Work Text:

Skateboard sat on a ramp at a skatepark. The cold air blew directly on his face, causing his cheeks to turn a light shade of red.

It was a day before Valentine's day, he already knew who he was going to ask. Though he didn't know if he'd accept it. Whatever happens, happens, and he couldn't change that.

Hopefully Slingshot accepted the offer, how would he even ask him anyway? Maybe call him over to somewhere in Crossroads, but where? That's when the best idea ever hit him, he could ask him here! This was one of his favorite skateparks, no, actually, his favorite.

The only issue is, he's not much of a romantic...well hopefully he could pull it off.

He quickly grabbed his Skateboard from beside him and started hitting tricks with it. Soaring off ramps, doing flips, the whole ordeal.

Suddenly Skateboard heard someone calling his name. He quickly stopped his board on the concrete and looked over.

Boombox was standing there, smiling.

"Hiya Skate!" Boombox greeted Skateboard happily.

Excitement bursted on Boombox's face. He looked like the happiest Inphernal ever.

"Hey Boombox, how you doing?" Skateboard asked Boombox, reaching his hand out to dab him up.

"I'm doing great! Just got back from DJing it was AWESOME!" Boombox responded to Skateboard, dabbing him up in the process of speaking.

"That's peak dude, glad you had a good time. I'm doing alright, just hitting some tricks over here." Skateboard told Boombox.

"Nice! You're always skateboarding." Boombox told Skateboard.

"Yeah, well my name is literally Skateboard, so it makes sense." Skateboard responded to Boombox.

"Anyways do you have any plans this weekend? Y'know since Valentine's day is this Saturday, afterall. We could maybe hang out or do something." Boombox asked Skateboard.

Skateboard had frozen up at the question, how the fuck do you just casually explain to your best friend you're going to ask a friend of yours out?

"Uh-well about that..." Skateboard told Boombox, his voice trailing off, his face turning an even brighter shade of red than before, but not from the cold.

"Are you planning on asking someone to be your Valentine?" Boombox asked Skateboard.

Skateboard knew he couldn't hide from the truth so he decided to tell Boombox, plus he'd probably find out anyway.

"Okay well, I'm kind of planning on asking Slingshot to be my Valentine but here's the thing, I don't really know how to and like I just don't know what to do." Skateboard quickly said, spilling the truth out quickly.

"Well...I say ya should go for it. Slingshot's a nice person and plus haven't you had a crush on him for Inpherno knows how long?" Boombox told Skateboard.

Ugh...how the hell did he even find out he had a crush on Slingshot for a while?

"How the hell did you even find out I had a crush on him?" Skateboard asked Boombox, obviously appalled by the fact he knew he had a crush on Slingshot.

"It legit is so obvious even someone who doesn't know you two would assume you like Slingshot!" Boombox told Skateboard.

"Okay, okay fair point. Thanks for the advice by the way." Skateboard said while also thanking Boombox for the advice.

"You're welcome, the least I could do as your best friend anyway." Boombox told Skateboard.

Boombox grabbed his phone and looked checked something before putting it back in his pocket.

"It's getting kinda late and I was just about to head home anyway. I was walking by here whenever I saw you and thought I might as well say hi." Boombox told Skateboard, explaining on how he got there.

"Thanks dude, it was nice seeing ya!" Skateboard told Boombox.

"No problem, cya!" Boombox exclaimed while walking away to go home.

Skateboard just stood there for awhile, processing how the Swords he would ask Slingshot to be his Valentine. At least now he knew that he'd ask him to be his Valentine, but how? How the hell would he ask Slingshot to be his Valentine without sounding like a total cornball?

Skateboard's phone buzzed in his pocket, he quickly grabbed it just to see it was some stupid notification from an app about Valentine's day.

At least he somewhat had a plan, definitely call him over to the skate park and ask him. Yeah, that sounded like a good plan. Just try to not say it in a corny way, hope things go well, and sound somewhat romantic.

Speaking of which, doesn't he need to finish his Valentine's gift for everyone? Coil, Boombox, and Slingshot. What could he even get them? The cards for them were done, but he hadn't bought any sweets for them. Well, he could just get them their favorite sweets!

Skateboard quickly hopped on his Skateboard and started skating the streets of Crossroads rapidly. He quickly stopped by a little shop that sold trinkets, sweets, and bunch of other stuff.

He walked down the shelves of products, scanning them carefully. He finally got to the sweets section and grabbed gummy worms, milk chocolate, and Oreos. The gummy worms were for Coil, the milk chocolate for Boombox, and the Oreos for Slingshot.

Shoving the items under his arm, he walked up to the register and payed. He hopped back on his Skateboard, with plastic bag of sweets under his arm, bolting off into the night.

He unlocked the front door and walked over to his bedroom. He sat the bag of sweets down on his bed. Now all he had to do was put the sweets with the Valentine's and prepare for tomorrow.

He gingerly put the sweets with the Valentine's. Then he signed the bottom in his horrible handwriting that could probably win an Oscar for how bad it was.

He set the cards on the desk in his room, when another idea struck him. Except this one was a lot more wacky and probably worse than the last. What if he just called Slingshot now and asked him? It would definitely be odd to call Slingshot to a skatepark in a gloomy part of Crossroads at night, but at this point he just wanted to know if he would accept his offer. Hell, he'd almost chickened out twice! Screw it, might as well ask him now.

He grabbed his phone from his pocket and texted Slingshot.

Skateboard: Hey Sling?

Slingshot: Yeah Skate wtf you want it is 9 pm at night

Well, he responded quick, but not in the friendliest way. Damn, this would probably be harder than what Skateboard assumed.

Skateboard: Highkey do you wanna like meet me up that one skatepark in Crossroads I love? I'm bored as hell

Slingshot: Bro you texted me for that

Skateboard: yes and? You finna do some random stuff with me or not?

Slingshot: Fine I'll meet you up there I guess

Well, mission success. Surprisingly easier than he originally assumed, Slingshot did get a bit pissed whenever he was tired. Well whatever, he should probably head over to the skatepark now. And he'd have to well, confess to Slingshot.

He quickly summoned his skateboard, unlocked the front door, and bolted down the streets of Craterdust Capitol.

After a bit, he finally got out of Playground and into Crossroads. He skated some more until he arrived at the skatepark he had been at earlier in the day. Skateboard stopped in front of the skatepark and hopped off his skateboard.

He saw a person sitting on top of a small skate ramp. That had to be Slingshot, his friend who he liked and his friend who would soon learn that.

Soon the moonlight started to shine on the person, there his friend sat. The moonlight shining off his horns causing a faint cyan glow to emerge on them in the dark. His headband lined his horns, while his shirt and jacket complimented every other detail of the outfit. His jeans and shoes finishing off the outfit.

Skateboard had on a dark red hoodie with black accents. A red helmet was tightly strapped to his head that also complimented his red horns. His outfit also had some grey baggy jeans and a pair of messed up black Converse that were holding on for dear life.

Skateboard walked over to Slingshot and climbed up the concrete ramp and then sat beside him. The two just stared at each other before Slingshot decided to speak.

"So uh, what do you wanna do?" Slingshot asked Skateboard.

"I don't know, maybe look at the stars? Afterall they are pretty and visible tonight, or we could do some random stuff." Skateboard suggested, pitching a few ideas to Slingshot.

Slingshot thought it over for a moment before deciding what he wanted to do.

"Why don't we look at the stars, I find stargazing calming and I like it. Plus looking out for constellations is pretty sick too." Slingshot replied to Skateboard before deciding to ask one quick question. "You do know some constellations, right?"

"I think so, I mean I'm not too familiar with stars. But I do know a spot where ya can see the stars pretty clearly, follow me." Skateboard told Slingshot, walking over to a patch of concrete that looked somewhat clean.

Skateboard sat down on the concrete, Slingshot sat down beside him. Skateboard then layed down and put his arms behind his head, looking up at the sky. Slingshot also laid down.

"Hey you see that?" Slingshot asked Skateboard, pointing to a cluster of stars. Skateboard looked over at the stars, it looked like some sort of constellation. "That's Orion." Slingshot told Skateboard."Do you see how the stars connect and make up shapes and lines?" Slingshot asked Skateboard.

"Yeah, when you look long enough you can actually start to see things." Skateboard responded to Slingshot, staring directly at the sky in amazement.

Skateboard continued to look around for more constellations, maybe he could make a competition out of this? Though it seemed a little too relaxing and calming to make it into a competition, Skateboard would rather keep the peace. For a bit Skateboard completely forgot about what he was going to tell Slingshot, then he remembered. Well, definitely was going to be hard to say that now.

"Y'know..." Slingshot started speaking, causing Skateboard's head to turn to look at him. "The moon is beautiful tonight."

Skateboard obviously had no idea what that meant and just said "Yeah it is pretty beautiful, but what does that have to do with the stars?"

"Honestly I thought you would've known what that meant but alright then." Slingshot told Skateboard, nodding his head in disproval.

"What does it mean though?" Skateboard asked Slingshot.

"Figure it out yourself." Slingshot replied to Skateboard, obviously not giving him the truth, well that was until he just blurted out the truth afterwards. "Saying 'The moon is beautiful tonight' means I love you."

Skateboard just paused for a moment, he could've sworn he felt his heart stop. Oh Inpherno, he was probably blushing so bad right now. Well, now he had to tell him.

"Would it be a bad or good thing if I said I think the same?" Skateboard asked Slingshot.

"No, not at all, after all any Inphernal would appreciate having a mutual feeling of love with someone." Slingshot responded to Skateboard.

Skateboard couldn't help but blush at that. "Well, I love you too." Skateboard told Slingshot, a warm smile spread across his face. "Speaking of love, will you uh...be my Valentine?" Skateboard asked Slingshot, already knowing what the answer was most likely.

"Obviously it's a yes, especially if I just confessed my love to you." Slingshot told Skateboard, teasing him for being oblivious.

"Okay, I know I'm oblivious, alright? But you don't gotta make me seem even more dumb!" Skateboard replied to Slingshot jokingly.

"Well atleast you're self aware now!" Slingshot told Skateboard, while also starting to laugh partly.

Skateboard just lost it and started laughing super hard to the point tears were coming out of his eyes. Slingshot attempted to not laugh but soon started laughing just like Skateboard.

The two were now laying on a patch of concrete laughing their asses off for no apparent reason.

"Why are we even laughing?" Skateboard asked through laughs.

"I don't even know!" Slingshot responded to Skateboard, now laughing even harder.

It looked like the two were just hanging out and had not just confessed their love for one another a few minutes ago.

"Man, do you wanna kiss or something at this point because I'm still bored as hell!" Skateboard said jokingly to Slingshot, not expecting him to actually do it.

Before he knew it Slingshot just kissed him randomly before pulling away and acting like nothing happened.

"Well, didn't expect you to actually do it but alrighty then!" Skateboard told Slingshot, he obviously didn't care that Slingshot just had kissed him, after all maybe he wanted to kiss him.

"Hey look, you asked if we wanted to kiss and I gave you my honest reaction." Slingshot responded to Skateboard.

"That's true." Skateboard told Slingshot, adverting his gaze to the stars above them.

There sat two stars glowing bright right next to each other. The two were definitely in love, it was undeniable!

"Tomorrow is going to be awesome isn't it Skate?" Slingshot asked Skateboard.

"Yep." Skateboard responded to Slingshot.
