Chapter Text
VTIC as BTS
Probably the most obvious one for me. Their names are similar and they are both extremely popular after a decade of being in the industry. Their names are actually very funny since it both means things completely unrelated (BTS meaning behind the scenes and VTIC actually meaning Victoria Tourism Industry Council acc to google) They are both considered the groups that brought K-pop to the west or basically "paving the way" for future K-pop generations.
TeStar as Enhypen
Both are formed from survival shows and both contains seven members even if that's not rlly important. I also think Enhypen and TeStar are akin in the sense that both are from not rlly good companies (I think hybe was said to ahúse their trainees? Not too sure but that's what I heard) under a smaller label (which TeStar was able to get out of and create their own) with BeLift and T1 Stars. Both of their survival shows were brutal so I think they would find some similarities there.
Extra: not important at all but I think it's quite funny how niki and Raebin were both the maknaes and debuted at fourth place. (Not sure abt the other members)
TeStar and Miry-Nay as Enhypen and Illit
I'm not familiar with K-pop a lot but after seeing a video of Enhypen and Illit's sibling moments together I am fully on board with the idea of them as testar and illit. Their dynamic is very cute to me and I like how some members of both groups feel like a reflection of the others (Wonhee with jungwon and Moondae with Minha) all are also formed from survival shows using votes (not sure abt I-land).
Miry-nay as Illit
Both are formed from survival shows. Their concepts are also similar as from what I think when I read abt Miry-nay's debut song is that both are trendy and intense (as stated in the debut or die wiki)
Miry-nay was originally debuting with the song "Magical Girl" (basically "Magical Boy" testar's debut song with a twist) because the director wanted them to become the female versions of Testar. If they debuted with that song then it could be said that their concept would be akin to illit's dreamcore with a dark twist.
Spacer as Cortis
Not a lot of information is known about Spacer so I compare them with Cortis which is a trending boy group under HYBE which is the same company that owns Enhypen and Illit. Under circumstances, both groups lost a member before debut either because of a scandal or were cut (only speculation on Cortis's side no confirmation if there was originally a sixth member).
Both are popular boy groups with their own fandom even if it's not as famous as the more popular groups. Spacer started trending because of their debut song.
Extra: there's a member called Heesung in Enhypen who trained with TXT so it could be compared to how heesung from dod used to be in a team with members from testar
Onyx as Stray Kids
Onyx and Testar were compared to each other when the time came for the rookie awards. I am comparing it to how people argue online about which group is more fit to be the leader of their generation (testar winning by a huge margin in dod but no proper answer for skz or Enhypen).
When Onyx first debuted they could be considered nugu and wasn’t able to be considered testar’s rivals after testar rose more and more. However, they had a concrete fan base that I believe mostly consisted of western fans due to their debut song concept (gangster/bad boys which isn’t a concept that is very popular in Korea I think) which I think is similar to stray kids who holds a large global audience instead of just Korean audiences.
