What are you doing?

Summary:

Basically Edward Kenton gains sentience for a bit and becomes aware of the player's actions. (Player has a bounty)

Notes:

So first time posting here, hello. I just thought it would be funny how Edward reacts to us doing crimes he'd definitely won't tolerate. I hope I got the character's personality right, even if this is not serious.

Work Text:

There's a familiar island up ahead, it's Windrow Island. Edward becomes confused. They were near the boundary between the Bronze and Nimbus sea. He sees his captain and the crew awake, ready to sail. Shouldn’t they be in Sameria resting after the recent battle with Keraxe?

"44 ships? That's gonna take a while." The player complains. "Well, I do want those chests."

Edward looks at the player whose hand seems to be reaching something. Unbeknownst to him, the player was looking at the UI of the weekly and daily quests.

Confused about his captain's behavior, he inquires "Captain, what are you talking about?... What are you doing?"

The player, looks at him briefly, and ignores him. The player orders for the ship to move.

Still confused, and concerned, he brushes it off. "Sails down!"

The player then stops the ship. "I might as well do this first."

The player went inside the brig's quarters and brews throwable bleeding potions.

"So, 10 sea creatures? this is definitely enough." the player looks at all the bleeding potions that they crafted

Edward is once again confused, eventually becomes worried when the player starts throwing the bleeding potions at the sea, summoning sharks.

"Captain!?" he exclaims, as the player fights off the sharks.

The player continuously leaps in the ocean trying to fight the sharks and recovers by going on the ship. "They give so much damage, what the hell."

Edward looks around the ship, neither the crew nor Enizor react at this situation.

Eventually the player kills off all the sharks, and the sea around them had a the sight of a tomato soup with sharks floating around.

The player is severely injured, only having 20 health left. Because of this, Edward runs to their side. "Gods, what were you thinking?"

The player once again looks at him confused. "Is this part of the new update? That's neat."

"Update?" Edward doesn’t know what to say about the player's bizarre and nonchalant behavior. "Captain, you need to rest. Go in the ship's quarters and lie down"

"I'll be fine, I'll heal in a few minutes."

The player runs to the ship's wheel moving, as if they weren't injured.

"Hey! where are you going?" Edward shouts. "You can't move in that state!"

"Hmm, yeah I guess I'll wait a bit. Might get killed by an NPC."

"NPC? Nevermind, now go inside the ship's quarters and recover, I'll take care of the ship."

Edward waits until the player moves, even offering to carry the side of the player, but the player just stands and looks at the sky.

"...Captain?" He thinks that the injuries has left the player confused and begins carefully move the player inside the brig.

A few minutes passed, and the player looks to be in a better shape.

"Alright, Let’s hunt some shi-" The player moves around. "How'd I get here?" They walk towards the wheel and commands to move the ship.

"Ah, I'm glad to see you are well, captain." Edward has become more relieved to see the player healed of the injuries. He questions in his mind how the player's wounds are perfectly healed. It doesn't matter to him now, at least his captain is still alive.

The day continues as the player and his crew defeats a few pirate ships looting them. Though the looting stopped, as they continue to sink a few more pirate ships.

All was well, until the player rams into a merchant's sailboat.

"Surely this was a mistake?" Edward says to himself.

The player ignores the destroyed ship and continues to ram and sink several ships from merchants, and the navy to assassins, and pirate ships, all without looting.

"Finally, I just want to finish this quest and log out already."

During the sinking of ships, Edward looked around to see the crew and Enizor who continue to ignore the situation. The victims of the sinking ships themselves acted odd. If they didn't attack the player, they stood still, as if they weren't in a sinking ship.

They stop at Palo town to unload the ship, and whatever sealed chests the player collected.

Edward becomes to be lost in thought, thinking he was dreaming. His thoughts get interrupted when a navy ship moves toward the town, and its crew begin to disembark their ship. "Shit."

He takes out his weapons and readies himself to fight, thinking he would be arrested, not only because he deserted or because of infiltrating Silverhold for his stuff, but because of his captain's actions. Despite, the navy marines, and other high-ranking navy members, clearly seeing him, they focus on fighting the player.

Edward is conflicted. He wants to help the player, yet, the player has been inexcusably sinking innocent ships.

The fight in Palo town was horrific to Edward, many citizens run and scream, and some, even killed. His mind begins to go back when he was a captain, and was ordered to fire at civilians. He turns away at the sight, but the screaming was haunting.

When everything became quiet, he sees the player and the destroyed buildings of Palo town.

With the knife of the player, an NPC was killed, "Woah, you can kill these guys?"

"What?" Edward becomes angered, as the player massacres the citizens of Palo town. "What the hell are you doing, Captain?!"

The player stops, and focuses on Edward. "Huh, what?"

Edward begins to attack the player, "How could you have done this?" He can't take it anymore. He can't standby, as the player kills the innocent civilians.

"Okay, this is just weird, why is Edward attacking me bruh."

Edward knows he couldn't stand a chance against the player, after all they had faced several opponents, such as king Calvus. In a few moves by the player, Edward lies on the ground and closes his eyes.

Before he closes his eyes, he sees the player looking over him and hears their words. "Uhm... Why can't I find anything about this online?"

The player is honestly creeped out, they couldn't find anything about Edward Kenton's behavior online. So, the player closes the Roblox window with Arcane Odyssey.

Though, they decide to once again open the game again, and spawned on the bronze sea.

They went in front of Edward Kenton and tries to speak to him again, but nothing happens. They play for a few minutes sinking ships and killing NPCs once again to see whether Edward would react, but nothing happens. They wonder if they were imagining the whole thing or that their game got hacked.

"I have been playing too much of this game."
