Chapter Text
The gentle classical music filled the theater room, soft padding along the stage set as Cosmo and Sprout danced. Razzle had urged them to be in one of his and Dazzle’s plays, which Cosmo happily obliged. It took a bit for Sprout to give in, but when Cosmo said he was going to Sprout finally said yes. So there they were. Dancing. Together. In front of other toons. They had rehearsed their part several times in the kitchen together and always ended up giggling. One part they never rehearsed? The kiss. They thought it wasn’t needed so they could skip over it, but if they want to get the act right they have to. It was nearing the end of the dance, and the toons in the crowd were intrigued as they watched the two best friends dance.
The final notes of the song rang out, and the choreography brought them closer than Cosmo expected. He faltered for half a second, unsure, eyes flicking up to Sprout’s face. Sprout hesitated too long, just long enough for Cosmo to think they might actually skip it. Before he leaned in. The moment caught them both off guard.
Sprout pressed his lips against Cosmo’s, hand in hand as the crowd cheered. The curtains rolled close and Sprout broke the kiss. He unraveled himself from Cosmo, and whispered a quick goodbye before heading to his dressing room. Cosmo did the same, walking the opposite way to his own. He took a deep breath, and exhaled slowly.
He kissed his best friend.
He kissed.
His best. friend.
Best friends don’t do that.
They don’t kiss.
So…why did he?
He knows it was apart of the act but Razzle said they could skip over it. But-... Cosmo was in utter shock. He sat down in his chair and stared at the ground, bouncing his leg as he pondered. Why would Sprout, of all people, be his first kiss? They’re best friends for heavens sake, why would your best friend be your first kiss? Cosmo groaned softly, resting his head in his arms. He needs a minute. An hour maybe? The play is over, he has all day and night to think about it. Getting up from his chair, Cosmo moves to change into his normal clothes. He exits his dressing room, planning to head back to his room.
He slams open the door to his room, shutting and locking it as he plopped down onto his bed. Cosmo groaned loudly into his pillow. This is bad. Really bad. Sprout, of ALL people, had to be his first kiss. And in front of a whole crowd?! His head was practically spinning with different questions and scenarios of how it would've went if they didn't kiss... Sighing, he pushes himself off his bed. He walks to his dresser, pulling out his favorite pajamas and swapping his normal attire out with them. He stretches, grunting softly before heading to bed. Cosmo pulls the blanket over himself, trying to get some sort of shut-eye for tomorrow...to face Sprout...to not question him...anything...
