They hunt and run with lanterns
While we scramble in the dark
Their body’s trained and ready
While we are from generations of fear
We are kept in the dark
Until we see the lanterns light
And then that is all we see
As others scream the lanterns are ok
But the dark is warm and welcoming
While your lanterns are harsh and harmful
You never say sorry
For ruining my night sight with that harsh light
I will keep my daughters safe
And pray to nothing that my son does not pursue
That he shall never take a lantern and cross
And that he will run with the others, safe in darkness
For the darkness is safe
And the moonlight shall guide us
The traditions are harmful
But those who speak up are found and blamed
‘The light was bound to touch them’
They cry to excuse their taking of night vision
‘They didn’t say no’
But they didn’t say yes either
Let them hunt in the darkness
For it is their home
And mine too as we keep our darkness pure
From your horrible orange light
