Crossroads, a place that was blooming with life as four fractions that were split among it made it what it was before. Now it's more so of a memorial of what it once was. The trees that were filled with delicate green leaves, reduced to an orange appearance that beg for death. The famous tower bending on its knees, as the light that sparkled over the place was nowhere to be seen. Replace by bright stars looking down upon me, in the night.
That's how I would describe it at most, seeing what I was fond of, be in ruins is such a devasting sight to see. Makes me wonder if siding with the blue team throughout this never-ending war was the correct decision.
Knowing that even after everything we went through before, we will have to do it all over again, but that whimsical charm that helped us get through it, was no longer with us anymore as it was now replace with dread and uneasiness. It doesn’t help at all what happen to Paintmaster, him turning into the ‘Terminator’ and his demise wasn’t pleasant at all. Seeing him explode into a red like-mist, leaving nothing at all. Feels like I am only on the doorstep of hell itself, now I am beginning to step inside towards the unknown.
Before I could process of what our destiny could be, a familiar voice called out my name.
“Hey, Rege! Check out this billboard that I and Grav found!”
I turn around, seeing red and blue colours in the distance, I knew by just looking at them. It was Speed and Gravity. If there was a competition about jumping to the moon, or running throughout the winds, these would be the people who would win it most of the time! However, I doubt they do those anymore knowing the circumstances of the world.
Without realizing I start to walk towards where they were, supposed I could have a good chat with them.
I raise my voice.
“Speed, you know this was always here, right? This is nothing new besides look at it, you can clearly see its outdated. I doubt the grass looks green nowadays!”
Gravity snickers "Bashing into the enemies may have made lost your memories, didn’t it Speed?”
Speed replies “Nuh uh! Not at all! I tell yah, I am great at remembering things and I swear this wasn’t here before!”
After walking for a while, I stop at where Gravity and Speed were, both having coils of different colours, two red coils were on speed arms, while Gravity had two blue coils on his legs. However, the confusing thing was his hair, unlike Speed who had a better helmet. Gravity’s light blue hair was bigger; it was like it was glowing with energy. He told me it was ‘Inspiration from a series he used to watch years ago’ But I haven’t figure out what. For I, my coils were in a similar position to Speeds, but mine were green with my flourishing hair and wizard hat on top of my head being the same colour. I always liked green. It resembles what I love about my surroundings, being able to see the beauty of nature. However, that was gone now.
I look up at the billboard, it was in fine condition with some pieces of the picture being torn apart. ‘Have you seen this tower? Well, you know have!’, how ironic that it was standing Infront of the tower, however the tower that is present in the billboard was taken a long time ago, as it was seen in its prime, as it was standing in its might. Now it will never strive in its glory as it did before.
Before, I could start a conversation Speed lift up his arm at the direction of the tower and with his hand pointing at it. What will he even say about it?
“Ay, ay, ay how about we race to get to the top of the tower! It would be fun!” Speed grins.
Does he know this is such a bad idea? Look at the tower, it could give Builder a run for his money trying to repair it! He thinks that racing to the top of it is not going to give us some injuries, if we accidentally trip and fall to the bottom who knows what could happen. Although it could be fun to watch them race to the top!
“Hm, yeah sure, let's see who will win! I will get there in a flash as my powers are above 9000, unlike yours Speed!” Gravity says beaming with passion
Why are they now looking at my direction?
“How about you Rege! Will you race us to the top or not?” Speed looks at me with his usual energetic expression. “I doubt he will! Besides Regen isn’t practically good on the physical side” Gravity says bluntly.
Hmph.
“I would’ve said no, but hearing what Gravity said, I may as well!” my eyes shifted to Gravity, instead of looking bewildered, he's smiling instead? I suppose he likes competition.
I may lose. However it will be fun to play with these two, we haven’t done that in a long time. Although, trying to travel to the top of the tower will be difficult. I doubt, I’ll be the first to the top, I rather be watching out for my own safety.
“YAY!!! Well, you are super super slowwwww,”
I gave Speed a judgemental look
“So, how about this I’ll help you reach the top with me! So, it's like a 2v1! Me and you against Grav!”
Wait what? But how would Speed even help me get up the stairs! Most of them are crooked, like they’re about to evaporate into gas if we step on it on the wrong area. Another thing is, I’ll be dead weight to him!
“That would be a bit unfai-”
My statement about this being unfair was overtaken by confidence itself.
“I am fine with it! I will help you win this race with pride and speed! You and I will win this! Don’t doubt the capabilities I have Rege! Anyways, let's get this race started as soon as possible!”
As soon as Speed finished his speech, he locked onto my hand and dragged me to the tower at the speed he usually goes at, my goodness he goes this fast? At one second, I was at the billboard, but now I am in front of the tower! Is this how the world looks for him whenever he's going this fast? I am going to have get used to this as my legs are a bit shaken up.
Following behind us, Gravity stops at where me and Speed were standing, as I turn to look at him, he had a smirk on his face. Taking a glance at the tower, made me realize that Gravity had a great advantage, he can just teleport at the top with one simple clap with his hands. I doubt Speed knows this at all, although looking at his expression and how excited he is, I decide to not tell him. I haven’t seen him like this for ages!
“On a count of three we will go!” Speed says not letting go of my hands, we really are just running to the top of this hazardous tower, are we?
“The best coil in the trio will win this! Good luck to the both of you, but you know who's clearly winning this!” Gravity boasts
“So, Rege! You’re ready?” Speed looks at me with gleam in his eyes!
I gave him a nod.
“Alright then, do not let go of my hand, as the speed were about to reach will be light speed...Well not really, but it’ll be light speed! I tell yah!” Speed seems determined to win this race.
Speed starts to count down to one.
Three...
Two...
One...
GO!
As fast as he said it, we were already on the first layer of the tower, I could hear the stairs creak and move! It makes me anxious, but at least we haven’t fallen yet. My poor legs start to hurt, as we make it to the second layer of the tower...I didn’t know were already at this level! I look around my surroundings, all of it is a blur to me except for Speed’s hand, if that's the case then, Speed happens to know which area to ste-
“JUMP”
With no time to think of where the sound came from I jump, my legs land onto the yellow stairs, thankfully not landing on the edge of the stairs, as I look behind me there was no tile where the bottom of the stairs was, I suppose it was lucky that I heard that. It amazes me how we haven’t stepped on the wrong part and fell back down the tower...and were already at the top!?
If I had a watch to tell the time, it would probably take 20 seconds to climb up here with that speed!
Speed lets go of my hands and everything starts to slow down, as I began to catch my breath after that tremendous sprint. I look around to see Gravity idle next to the pole that the tower had, with his arms crossed. Speed's face shows disbelief seeing him here.
“You know, it was certain that I was going to win this, didn’t you? I am great at reaching the heights that most people cannot get to! Should've called it quits before it was too late, Speed and Regen!”
Yeah, knew it.
“Yes, you did win this race, however, did you do it with someone else?” Without letting Gravity answer “Because that's a no, as I and Rege here! Ran up the Tower in light speed, you should have seen us! We were running and jumping it was FUN!!! Wasn’t it Rege!”
Without me even noticing until it was too late, Speed suddenly turns to my direction, speed walks behind me and pats me on my back. I didn’t really do that much, so I don’t quite know why he's giving me credit and standing is killing my legs, I feel like I am about to fall apart!
“It was fun, I haven’t run that fast in my life before. I can certainly say it is quite chaotic” I tried to hide the fact I was smiling.
Standing on the top of tower, I look down below me, it felt like were giants. After that I look up at the stars. They were pretty, it felt almost like there was an eye being form by the stars, staring back at me. It felt like I wasn’t making it up and that's how I felt looking at the night sky, but maybe I was just tired from sprinting, I really need to have a rest.
“You know it was great to do some activities. we haven’t been able to do that since the blue and red teams started a war.” Gravity’s confident face starts to disappear, with a gloom expression appearing instead.
I’ve seen Gravity act like that was whenever he lost battles before, but now seeing him like that hurts to see.
“C'mon Gravity, the blue team will eventually win with the power of coil trio helping them! After that, we could play a lot more!” Speed’s cheerful view shines.
Does Speed really know what we would be able to play with after the war ends? Everything around us is being destroyed constantly, all that’ll be left is dust to be played with, no sports, no climbing trees, just nothing.
“It is certain that this war will end, however the consequences of it will be major. I doubt the world will return to normal ever again.”
I know that there could be a chance that everything will be back to normal after this war ends, but that’ll likely never happen as the chances of that is like winning the lottery, an illusion of what could happen, filled with lies and deceit as it never was possible to begin with, no matter how hard you try. Although, I bet Luckroll will stay try to win that chance by luck, even if his life is on the line.
Speed’s usual optimism seems to be wilting away like a flower dying. It’s sad to see him like this, but I had to say it.
“I will never get to experience jumping to see the sun sparkle, as I try to reach towards it. However, all I know is that we three will stick together as the coil trio, that's why we are here to begin with! We defeated coil fuse and his coil brutes long ago, no matter what we face we will strive, as together nothing is going to stop us!”
Gravity holds his fist in the air at the end of his speech; I can hear Speed shouting “YEAH!”
Never knew Gravity was great at encouraging people, we’ve made it through this mess once. However, are we able to do it a second time?
I think I know the answer this time.
I look towards the stars once again.
“You’re mostly right, even if what we once loved is now in ruins, we will make sure that the future will prosper and glisten for nature, trees, life itself. No matter what, I’ll protect what's left of what this world brought and if it's all for nothing, at least I tried.”
I look at the direction of both Gravity and Speed. Gravity had a determined look in his eyes, as Speed's confident smile was beginning to show again.
“Knowing that the future won’t reach us, the present is in shambles, and the past is long gone, at least I have both of you here with me, then I hope that we will return the world to a happier state, with our coils, we will create a path for a brighter future. No matter how ridiculous that sounds.”
My mouth starts to form a smile. My eyes start to tear up. Not of sadness, but hope.
“And that's true!”
Speed suddenly starts to speak, with his optimistic voice, as I rub my eyes.
“Without the coil trio, I would’ve never ever ever ever made it this far! I thought I was done for, but with you we made people know that we are the coil trio! And we mean business! If we defeated Jetrock and Doombringer before, then we can do it another time, as we did it with Paintmaster or so called ‘Terminator’! No matter what they are now! We and I mean WE. we are the COIL TRIO!”
Speed then raises his hand up the air waiting for us to clap hands together like we used to. I raised mine, Gravity raised his and then we clapped together, even though we mess it up as Speed’s hand didn’t connect with mines and Gravity’s hand was the only one that did.
It doesn’t really matter. If I still have them both with me, then maybe this hell won’t be as miserable as I thought it would be, as we are the Coil Trio.
