Work Text:
There were four people on the hill that night. The sun was starting to set, the sky a vivid crimson as Maya Fey and Franziska von Karma watched two kids play happily.
"Look at this, Pearl!" Trucy yelled, sitting on a grassy hill next to a tree. "Three... two... one!"
*poof!*
"Trucy?" Pearl called. "Where did you go?" "Why, hello, fine lady! I am Mr. Hat!" Mr. Hat said.
"Oh, hello there! I am looking for a girl named Trucy. About this tall, wearing a blue cape..."
"They're so cute!" Maya commented. "Aren't they, Franzy?"
"I suppose they are... somewhat adorable." Franziska replied.
"Not more adorable than you, though!"
A soft pink flooded Franziska's cheeks at those words.
"M...Maya?"
Silence. "You weren't supposed to hear that..."
"Maya Fey. What was that about?"
"..."
"Maya. You can tell me... If something's wrong, I--"
Suddenly, Maya hugged her so tight, she could barely move.
"For so long. Ever since that bridge case... I looked at you and I got this fluttery feeling everywhere in my body. I couldn't help but smile every time I was around you. It's only now I'm realizing what that truly was..." Maya began. "What I'm trying to say is..."
"I love you, Franziska."
Franziska could feel Maya shaking as they embraced, both of their hearts pounding.
"Maya Fey... I have been waiting so long for you to say those words."
"...Really?"
Franziska nodded.
"I love you too, Maya Fey."
Right then, they heard Pearl calling to Trucy. "Look at Mystic Maya and Miss Franzy!"
Though they could feel the two children's eyes on them, they didn't want to pull away...
"Maya! Franziska! Look at what we made!"
They stopped to turn to the two kids, who had made a drawing of two people holding from a soiled napkin.
"It's you guys!"
The two girls laughed at the gesture.
"We'll treasure it forever." Maya laughed.
At that moment, the crimson sky washed over the two lovebirds, their hearts speaking louder than words ever could.
