Work Text:
Sunghoon did not know how he had ended up in this situation with a certain pink-haired boy lying, face down, fast asleep on his chest. The boy's lips were red, swollen, and forming a pout that kissed the crane of Sunghoons neck with every slow, sleepy breath. His hair, still faintly curled from the night before, tickled Sunghoon’s jaw.
The morning sun spilled through the curtains, illuminating the chaos left behind from the party- red cups scattered across the floor, glitter clinging to the carpet and someone’s jacket draped over the desk chair. The faint smell of alcohol still lingered in the air, mixing with the boy’s perfume, making Sunghoon’s chest tighten.
He winced as a sharp pulse of pain shot through his head. He lifted a hand to his temple, groaning quietly, then let his gaze drift back down to the boy curled against him.
Sunoo looked peaceful. Too peaceful. Like last night hadn’t happened at all.
Right. Last night.
And suddenly it all came rushing back. The jealousy, the shouting, the tears, the confessions. And then the way Sunoo had looked at him like he still mattered, like he was the only thing that mattered.
Sunghoon exhaled shakily, unsure whether he wanted to smile, panic, or hide under the blankets forever.
24 hours before...
The sound of knocking (more like banging) on the door woke Sunghoon up from his deep sleep.
"PARK SUNGHOON OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR NOW." Sunoo shouts, his voice full of pure rage.
"Oh fuck." Sunghoon mutters to himself as he realised he had massively overslept and ignore every single one of his alarms. A pang of regret is all he feels as gets out of bed to let in the younger boy. He's exhausted, he should never have let himself talk himself into staying up and binging funny cat videos that are just so much funnier at 5am in the morning. Yes, he's lonely.
He opens the door revealing a very frustrated and angry Sunoo.
"About fucking time, Park. We agreed to meet today at 12pm. It is now 2pm. If you do the maths, that is a 2-hour difference you dick." Sunoo says, taking in a deep breath afterwards to calm himself down.
"Don't tell me you've been trying to wake me up for the past two hours..?" Sunghoon questions, slightly concerned although soon whatever concern he had was washed away with the thought of Sunoo waiting two hours, just for him.
That thought did not last long though.
"Of course not, who do you think I am. I went home and did my half of the presentation for tomorrow. I just thought I’d come and show you my part and make sure you do your part so you don't embarrass me tomorrow." Sunoo explains, still extremely pissed off.
"TOMORROW!? ISN'T IT DUE THE DAY AFTER?!" Sunghoon shouts a bit too loudly in shock.
"Yes you idiot. Tomorrow, and I intend on getting a good mark, so please, for the sake of both us, just start working." Sunoo says, opening up his laptop to show Sunghoon his work.
Sunghoon was not the least bit interested in what Sunoo was talking about. Their project was to make an in-depth presentation about human brain psychology and currently Sunoo was ranting on about the study of internal mental processes which would put Sunghoon right back to sleep if it wasn't Sunoo doing the talking.
You see, Sunghoons mind was occupied with other things.
Neither one of them wanted to be project partners but, unfortunately, they seemed to have had the bad luck of being paired up together.
Sunoo was in fact Sunghoon's ex and them sitting with each other, shoulders touching and knees knocking, was making the older boy absolutely insane. He was mad at the fact he could sit there looking so devourable, so perfect, so pretty. Sunoos lips were so plush, so pink and so glossy. Sunghoon was drooling at the sight of him, it was embarrassing. Luckily for him, Sunoo was so invested in explaining neuron anatomy he didn't even notice Sunghoon's major gay panic.
Truth be told, Sunoo wasn't wearing anything particularly special. Just an overside jumper, top and joggers. Sunghoon was just extremely whipped and had remained completely in love with Sunoo even after their breakup a few months ago, which he himself had stupidly initiated.
"That's everything I have done. I’ve left neurotransmitters, communication and the brain as topics for you to cover. Please e-mail me the presentation once you have finished it. By 6pm sharp." Sunoo says bluntly, getting up to leave Sunghoon to finish the project.
Sunoo stops walking when Sunghoon grabs his hand. He turns his head around, perplexed by Sunghoon’s absurd behaviour.
"Wait! Uhm, could you stay whilst I do the project...? I just think I’d focus and finish it quicker if you stayed so I don't get distracted." Sunghoon explains.
"You’re fucking annoying, you know that right?" Sunoo says, forcing his hand out of Sunghoon's grip. He closes the door and plops himself across from Sunghoon who can’t help but smile over the fact Sunoo had stayed.
"Thank you. On another, completely unrelated note.. I sort of, maybe am hosting a party tonight here and the house is kind of a mess so could you help me clean it up later?"
"So, you only wanted me to stay to help you with the cleaning. You've not changed one bit Park. I’m not even invited to your fucking party. What makes you think I’ll clean-up for you? Seriously, who do you think I am?" Sunoo’s voice was filled with anger, his face full of disgust. He couldn't believe Sunghoon could be so brazen.
"NO! I need you here to get this project done... I just thought, you know, in case you get bored of waiting or something. I know you don't like mess and can’t help but want to clean things up. Also, you are invited, your friends can come too. Tonight, 10pm, here." Sunghoon explains, trying to convince Sunoo to agree.
"Well, okay then. Just do the presentation and I’ll sort this mess out." Sunoo says, not really minding it because annoyingly, Sunghoon seemed to be good at reading him and new Sunoo wanted nothing more than to just clean his place till it was spotless.
An hour passed and Sunghoon had finished the project, much quicker than he expected although that's because Sunoo had snatched his phone from him and did five-minute check-ups on Sunghoon to make sure he wasn't doing anything other than work.
The pair went through the entire presentation, pleased with how it turned out aesthetically and with the information. They did a couple practice run throughs and decided to call it a day with the project.
The time was approaching 4pm meaning Sunghoon had plenty of time till the party began. Sunoo had done an immaculate job of cleaning Sunghoon's room and the kitchen. Now all that was left was Jays room which Sunoo had decided to save to do with Sunghoon.
"Wow Sun, you did a good job at cleaning this place!" Sunghoon says, admiring how spotless it was.
"Thanks, now we must clean up Jay hyungs room because it reeks." Sunoo says.
"Tell me about it. I think he has some old takeaway box moulding in there. I wish he would just clean up after himself, but he spends more time at you and Jungwon's place now, rather than being here with me." Sunghoon says, his tone sounding like he was a little hurt.
"It’s only because he’s in his honeymoon phase with Jungwon, the two are inseparable ever since Wonnie confessed. I love them but sometimes its insufferable." Sunoo says, making Sunghoon laugh.
The two decide to actually clean out the room which wasn't actually as big of a task as they thought it would be. Despite the stench and the overall mess you see when you first enter being extremely off putting, Jay was actually cleaner and organised than anticipated.
The duo finished tidying and eventually Sunoo left to go and get ready for the party.
Sunghoon had to go out and retrieve the essential party items including: party food consisting of basically just snacks, vodka and coke (lots of it) and of course the classic red paper cups. He also purchased a bunch of balloons and extra decorations for the occasion. The occasion in question? Well.. it's his dog's birthday (who lives all the way in Namyangju) so yeah, anything for a party and getting wasted.
Now all he needed to do was to get ready for the big night.
Meanwhile, Sunoo was in his room, mindlessly scrolling on his phone whilst he waited for Jungwon to finish doing whatever he was doing with Jay to help him pick an outfit for the night and also a plan for something very exciting and risky.
Finally, Jungwon entered Sunoos room to help the boy with his crisis. As he entered, Sunoo noticed how red and flustered the younger boys face was. He seemed pretty giddy and Sunoo thought he wouldn't ask because he’d probably be disturbed by whatever just happened.
"Wonnie finally!! Please, please help with my outfit choice. I need to wear something that makes me look cute and irresistible." Sunoo complains.
"And why do you NEED to look irresistible?" Jungwon smirks, noticing Sunoo had his scheming face on.
"So that everyone wants me and I make Sunghoon jealous! Duh." Sunoo laughs as he thinks about how irritated Sunghoon will be.
"Well okay then. Let’s get you an outfit." Jungwon says, opening up Sunoo's closet to search for an outfit.
Jungwon picks out a simple black cropped top and white trousers at first which Sunoo automatically puts a stop too saying that's the opposite of what he was going for. He then picked out shorter cropped top and a pair of tight shorts which did match Sunoo's criteria but was a bit too much for his liking. Eventually, Sunoo agreed on wearing a white, crop top that would be paired with an open knit cropped top with cut-outs in order to make him look cute but also reveal his toned waist along with some tight black skinny jeans, bound to get Sunghoon looking.
Once Sunoo put on his outfit he decided to add some extra accessories including a black choker and some small, silver hoop earrings. He then proceeds to do his make up where he puts on some eyeliner to make his eyes even more shaper than before. Then he adds some silver eyeshadow and even draws a couple small stars on each side of his eyes. Of course, he had to put on his favourite tinted red lip gloss to make his lips looks even more kissable. Lastly he styled his hair by curling it just to make it extra fluffy. Sunoo had one goal for the night and that was getting Sunghoon back.
Sunoo checks his phone to see that the time was reaching 10:30 so the party was starting soon. He decided to cook himself and his friends some ramen to eat before going to the party knowing they most likely wouldn't have much to eat there. They eat up pretty quickly and soon it was almost time for the party to begin.
They left their own place to head to Sunghoon (& Jays) place. Luckily it was not far at all since it was just outside of their university campus. They arrived swiftly and were met with the sound of loud music playing on speakers, about five couples already just making out and a stressed Sunghoon who was stood making drinks for people. Jungwon and Jay both greet Sunghoon, checking up on him whilst Sunoo, being the social butterfly he is, immediately strikes up conversation with some tall, bunny-looking guy whose hair was the same colour as the sky on a beautiful summer’s day.
Sunghoon notices this boy, who goes by the name of Soobin, had made Sunoo laugh three times. Make that four times now. Sunghoon thought he wouldn't let it get to him but the mess he just caused when squeezing one of the cups out of anger said otherwise.
"Uhm.. hoon hyung, how about I take over from drink making and you sit down and have one yourself?" Jungwon says to which Sunghoon agrees to immediately, grabbing a drink from a random stranger and downing the liquid rapidly.
Sunghoon stared at Sunoo who had been joined by Yeonjun, who also matched him with pink hair. Sunghoon breathed out a huge sigh of relief when noticing that Soobin and Yeonjun did seem to be dating and that they weren't trying to hit on Sunoo.
However, that moment didn't last for long because soon Sunoo was talking to some other guy named Taki came over and started to flirt with Sunoo, making him laugh. Sunghoon was about to lose it and to make things worse, the two were now taking selfies where their faces were so close their cheeks were practically touching.
Sunghoon grabs himself another drink and stops the music to get everyone's attention.
"We're playing spin the bottle." Sunghoon announces. Then he puts up the music and makes his way into the living room where guests followed him formed a circle.
Sunghoon was sat beside Jake and Jay who were sat with Heeseung and Ni-ki. Jungwon had found his way beside Sunoo, who was the opposite end of where Sunghoon was sat, staring teasingly at the older boy.
The rules of the game were, one person would spin the bottle and whoever it lands on, they ask truth or dare. If the other player refuses to answer, they must take a shot.
Sunoo just had his third shot, and his face was heating up. It's not his fault that everything seemed to be against him right now. The bottle kept landing on him and every single time he would be questioned about his feelings or something else related to Sunghoon. A few goes had happened and now the bottle, once again, landed on Sunoo. The boy decided to risk it and ask for a dare.
"I dare you.... To kiss Ni-ki." Jungwon says, smirking as he sees Sunghoon's face drop.
"Sure." Sunoo says, knowing he can’t pass on another round, or he will look like a complete loser. And he can't let Sunghoon win. He needs to make him jealous and mad first!
Sunoo approaches Ni-ki who seemed quite nervous as all eyes were on them. Without warning, Sunoo quickly presses their lips together for a second or two before releasing again.
Despite the kiss really not being a big deal considering the two boys had always been close, almost like brothers, Sunghoon had had enough with the game.
"Okay, truth or dare is over." Sunghoon says, walking out of the room and grabbing himself a shot of just pure vodka.
‘I have to say Sunoo… your plan really is working. He looks pissed.’ Jungwon says, as the pair notice him glaring at Sunoo.
“I know right. I get he is staring at me like he wants to kill me, but why is he so hot?” Sunoo replies, licking his lips.
Jungwon smirked at Sunoo, who seemed to still have his eyes on Sunghoon.
“Hyung! I love this song, lets go dance with Jay!’ Jungwon said, to get out of the uncomfortable tension he was in the middle of.
Sunoo laughed and followed Jungwon to where other partygoers, including Jay, were dancing.
Drink after drink, Sunghoon's emotions became much more apparent. He sat, watching as Sunoo danced to the music along with Jungwon and Jay. The music was pounding but Sunghoon’s heartbeat was much louder. He was lost in the world of Kim Sunoo, and nothing could help him now, as he sat and drank some more.
Sunoo also found himself consuming more alcohol than he had intended, with it tugging at his balance as he moved across the dance floor. The heavy mix of alcohol, heat, and sweat were starting to make Sunoo overwhelmingly lightheaded. He started to stumble, watching as figures around him became hazy shapes in the distance.
He drops his cup onto the floor, spilling the alcohol onto Sunghoon's carpet and he falls.
Into someone's arms.
Before Sunoo can say anything, Sunghoon props up the boy and carries him to his own bedroom. There were a few couples doing who knows what in his room, which made Sunghoon question why on earth he decided to host this party. He kicks them out quickly and then lays down a tired and drunken Sunoo. The older boy sits beside him and messes with his hair, thinking about how he shouldn't have had so much to drink because now the pair will be hungover tomorrow during their presentation.
Sunoo starts to giggle causing Sunghoon to divert his attention from his thoughts to the latter. He watches as Sunoo starts to shuffle his body so that it engulfs Sunghoon in an awkward hug. The older boy admires Sunoo and how perfect he looked. His beautiful face, his fluffy hair, his glossy, so very kissable lips. Sunoo really knew how to get to Sunghoon and it was definitely working. Sunghoon could not stop thinking about how toned Sunoo’s waist is. How someone could be so perfect inside and out. He wanted this boy more than anyone or anything else and he would never let anyone else have him.
"Yah, Sunoo why are you so cute today?" Sunghoon says not caring that this was his ex and blaming it on the alcohol.
"Hmmm... well I could say the same thing to you. Although, you're kinda hot. Such a shame we broke up." Sunoo sighs, staring back at Sunghoon.
"I hate seeing other guys talk to you, you're still mine in my eyes." Sunghoon says, rolling his eyes as he remembers Sunoo dancing with Taki earlier and even worst, kissing someone who isn't him.
"Yeah well, complain all you want, you ended it first and I can't stay heartbroken forever." Sunoo says. A shift of tone in his voice causing a thick tension to appear in the room.
"And I regret it more than anything."
"Then why did you do it."
"Because I was so fucking jealous of everyone wanting you that I couldn't bear the thought of losing you." Sunghoon's voice was trembling.
"What the fuck did you just say to me?"
The room fell silent.
"You caused me so much pain for a whole fucking year because you were jealous." Sunoo said furiously.
"I don't- I just couldn't deal with .. I-" Sunghoon began as he choked up on his words.
"Just stop. You broke up with me. You stopped something we were both so happy in, because you couldn't handle your own emotions?"
Sunghoon just sits there wishing the ground would just swallow him whole.
"DO YOU REALISE HOW SELFISH THAT IS?" Sunoo shouts, his voice full of anger and pain.
"Sunoo, please-"
"No. I was hurt. I have been hurting for so long now. It took me months to be able to even look at you without feeling like my heart was being pulled from chest. I felt like I wasn't good enough, I became so fucking insecure that till this day I feel like I don't deserve to eat. When we got paired up to do the psych project together I begged to be paired up with someone else. And then, I felt like how we used to be earlier today. The same kind of joking we used to do, the same feeling of peace when I was around you.
I felt like we were moving on from this rocky patch we were both in, or at least, I was. I felt like, for the first time there would be some hope that things could be normal between us or maybe even more than that... but I can't when you're acting like I'm some prize to be won. I can't when you get so jealous of me talking with someone who isn't you. Why should I isolate myself for the sake of your happiness, Sunghoon? You're selfish." Sunoo was furious, he was upset and he couldn't help but let all his tears out when he had finished speaking.
Sunghoon had no words. He too was tearing up, brushing his hair from his face as his face started to heat up.
"Ah, shit, Sunoo, Look I’m sorry. I really am so sorry for making you feel like this. I don’t deserve any forgiveness or anything. I just want you to know that... I never stopped loving you. I will never stop loving you. I know I am selfish, I know I don't deserve you but please, don't give up on me."
"I would never give up on you." Sunoo says, his voice breathless. Then he pulls Sunghoon closer to him and levels their faces close to each other.
Sunoo doesn't know why he is giving into Sunghoon so easily, but this is what he had been craving all night anyway. He bites his lip as he stares into Sunghoon's eyes. He looks down to the older boy’s lips, lips that were so perfect, so pink and so very kissable.
"Sun... what are you doing? I think I should get going." Sunghoon says, swallowing as he noticed how dry his throat was.
Sunoo smirked cunningly, prying at him with a slow, teasing tilt of his head. "I don't hate you, hyung."
"But-"
Sunoo crashed his lips onto the older boys, satisfying his thirst for Sunghoon's lips. Sunghoon, at first, is startled. Baffled. He really didn't think Sunoo, of all people, would forgive him so easily. Sunoo was still kissing him, his lips only taste of the coke and vodka Sunoo had previously consumed.
What is happening right now?
Oh right, they're both incredibly drunk and all Sunghoon wants to do is kiss Sunoo back.
Sunoo pauses and looks at Sunghoon confused.
"Why won’t you kiss me back? Do you even love me? I thought this was the whole point of you inviting me, to get me back. are you even interested in me?" Sunoo cried out, his words were slurred and tears started to pour down his face.
Sunghoon, panicked, wiped the tears streaming down Sunoo’s face. He hushed the boy to make him calm down. Then he stroked his hair and engulfed him in a warm hug.
“Sorry baby. I want nothing more than to kiss you and have you all to myself. It’s just, are you sure? Because once I start kissing you, I won’t be able to stop.” Sunghoon whispers into
Sunoo’s ear.
“I’m sure. I want you, so, so badly.”
Sunghoon smirks at Sunoo and leans forward. He feels Sunoo’s shaky breath on his mouth before closing the distance, their lips landing softly against each other. Sunghoon moves his lips tentatively, his shaky breath hot against Sunoo’s face. Sunoo melts into the kiss, pushing into the older boy, prompting a soft groan from his lips. Their tongues fight for dominance, teeth clashing at intervals, punctuating their gratification.
Sunghoon nips at Sunoo’s bottom lip, sending the smaller boy feral, his head hazy with no thoughts and no words, but Sunghoon.
Sunghoon pulls back, tiliting his head and giggling at the mess he has made of this boy already.
“You’re so beautiful, Sun. So, fucking perfect.” Sunghoon mutters, brushing a strand of hair from Sunoo’s eye.
“You’re not so bad yourself. Oh, and you don’t have to be so gentle.”
And Sunoo does not need to tell him that twice.
Sunghoon climbs on top of him, knees either side of his hips. Their mouths connected disjointedly and hungrily as desperation fills the two of them up until there is nothing left apart from the pure desire to devour each other completely.
It’s slow and hungry, deep and desperate. Sunghoon pulls back for a moment to slowly run his tongue, upwards, over Sunoo’s bottom lip and then the top, which immediately makes him push up again, then pull Sunghoon until comes crashing down against him, both refusing to take a moment to separate for a breath, as if to make up for the last year, without each other. Open mouthed, they kiss each other over and over, tongues and teeth grazing until Sunghoon finds himself trailing kisses across Sunoo’s jaw and down the side of his neck, earning a moan from him.
Sunghoon must have spent too long divulging himself in the soft, scarlet smudge flesh of Sunoo’s neck because his head is being tilted up again and his mouth meets Sunoo’s once more, like he needs him more than anything, which he does.
He never wants to lose Sunoo again. He never wants to be the root of Sunoo’s sadness or anger. He wants Sunoo to be a constant in an uncertain future.
‘I love you, Sunoo. Thank you for giving me a second chance.’ He says, pulling back, flustered and emotional.
Sunoo smiles widely at the older boy. ‘I love you too, hyung.’
The younger boy pulls Sunghoon into a gentle and chaste kiss, before wrapping his arms around him.
“I was so stupid for ever letting you go.”
“You were. But I’ll always be here, hyung. You have my heart, you always have.”
Sunghoon smiles, before pecking Sunoo’s soft cheek.
As the pair emerged from Sunghoon’s room, they notice the apartment had fallen quiet. Jay and Jungwon were curled up together on the living room floor, fast asleep, and the last of the music had faded into a soft hum from the speakers. Red cups littered the carpet, the faint smell of alcohol hanging in the air.
Sunoo swayed a little, rubbing at his eyes. Sunghoon reached out instinctively, steadying him with a hand on his waist.
“Come on,” he murmured, voice low with exhaustion, “you’re barely awake.”
Sunoo didn’t argue. He just nodded and let Sunghoon guide him back toward his room. The moment the door closed behind them, Sunoo climbed onto the bed and tugged Sunghoon down beside him, curling into his chest like he’d been doing it every night for years. Sunghoon let his eyes fall shut, Sunoo’s breath warm against his neck. He didnt know what tomorrow would bring, but for now, this was enough.
