Work Text:

Rays of sunshine appear on the window next to the bed of Dee, which makes the long haired man squint his eyes and groan, sitting up and looking outside of the window, after a few minutes he stands up and rubs his eyes, grabbing one of his many phones and checking for the spam for e-mails, scrolling through each one, trying to check if they had sent the most important one..

However, while scrolling, Dee received a message from a brown haired woman, Redd, his dear girlfriend, well… If 'dear' meant being a little annoying, since she was also sending message after message, clearly excited about something. Dee sighs and opens the chatting app, looking at what Redd had messaged him.

"DEE!" Redd - 7:11am

"DEE!" Redd - 7:12am

"DEE I GOT IT!" Redd - 7:12am

"THEY SENT IT!" Redd - 7:12am

Dee tilts his head and types in the chat box, wondering if it was that she was talking about.

"Redd, it's 7:12am in the morning you can stop spamming messages now…" Dee - 7:13am

Dee chuckles, how was he able to pull someone this stupid? Not that he minded, it was funny sometimes, silly and cute even…

"BUT DEE! I GOT THE E-MAIL!" Redd - 7:14am

A screenshot sent, with the the title being the e-mail of the college they were trying to get into. The name of the college, the details, everything was written on the screen, Dee's eyes widened and as he checks his inbox again, and he notices that a recent e-mail was sent, marked as spam, he opens it and the same text that Redd got greets him, but instead of her name being on the e-mail…

It's his…

Dee stares at the long paragraphs, his heart starting to beat slightly faster. He couldn't believe he was accepted into his dream college. But a sudden realization clicks when a message from Redd pops up on his notifications, they had both been accepted into the same college they have been trying to apply to for months.

Does that mean he would have to leave home? Sleep in some sort of dorm with her? To finally have a possible career in psychology?

To study and graduate from College with Redd?

The blonde man shook his head and screenshotted the e-mail, proceeding to open the text notification from Redd, typing in a semi-excited reaction in the chat box.

"I just got the e-mail too… we’re going to the same college.” Dee - 7:16am

"I’M SO EXCITED DEE!!! I got a dorm near campus with my scholarship!" Redd - 7:17am

Dee squints his gaze towards the phone, quickly swapping tabs and looking back at the e-mail, in which after reading for a little, the numbers and descriptions of the dorms don't match, which means that they wouldn't be in the same dorm, or even the same quadrant.

Dee quickly swaps back to the chatting app and starts typing in the chat box.

"I'm not in the same area as you." Dee - 7:18am

"OH YOU’RE NOT?" Redd - 7:19am

The typing bubble appears, Dee tilts his head once more.

"BRB I THINK I CAN CHANGE THAT!!" Redd - 7:20am

Dee lifts an eyebrow and types one last thing before shoving his phone into his pocket.

"I don't know what you mean but I'll tell my family about this. I'll get to you later.” Dee - 7:18am

"So…" Dee mutters, sitting on the table of the kitchen, grabbing the fork and eating a piece of omelette, while Glam looks at him and lifts his eyebrow. Dee takes a deep breath, hesitating to speak.

"You almost never call us for meetings, Dee…" Glam spoke while staring deeply into Dee's gaze, Dee took another bite and started, even with his mouth muffled.

"I got into the college I've been wanting to get into." The blonde man spoke, his voice muffled by the toast, Heavy's eyes lit up and he stood up, walking over to offer Dee a hug, and even though Dee didn't really want to, he still accepted the hug, somewhat reluctantly.

"Эх? ну поздравляю, ди! круто что ты поступил!" Heavy spoke, tightly hugging his older brother and unwrapping his arms, Glam whistled and he took a sip from his glass of juice.

"Impressive, Dee…" Glam spoke, Heavy sat back on his chair and Dee resumed what he needed to say.

"But… The thing is that I might have to move into the dorm that they gave me… Sabes?" Dee spoke, pouring some milk into the empty cup, Glam squinted and gave a wide smile.

"Well… You're eighteen now, Dee… I think you're grown enough to take care of your own." He spoke, taking another sip of his glass of juice, Dee hums and nods, taking one of the last bites of his toast and eggs.

"What about Mom?" Dee asked after realizing that his mother is not there, to know that he is going to his dream college, Glam cleared his throat and answered.

"I'll tell her, it's alright…" He spoke, Dee hums and finishes his eggs and toast, however he feels his phone vibrate in his pocket and he pulls it out, noticing that Redd is calling him, Dee starts feasting the last bits of his food and stands up, attending the call.

"Dee!" Redd's voice spoke excitedly, Dee sighed and started talking.

"What happened?" He spoke.

"I was able to negotiate! Now we can have the same dorm!" She spoke, Dee could almost feel the smile through Redd's voice, however a question surged, how did she do that? Dee shook his head and proceeded to ask Redd.

"Wait… How did you do that?" He asked, Redd's tounge clicked and chuckled nervously.

"Well… I had to almost- ALMOST! Give up my participation on the football team…" Redd spoke, Dee eyes slightly widened in shock, and proceeded to ask about this.

"Redd.. what the hell?" Dee spoke, however Redd giggled and replied.

"Don't worry, I’ve still got it secured.." She spoke, Dee sighed and chuckled, however if he was going to move out of his house into  campus, maybe he should start packing stuff now.

"Well, at least we will be together-" Dee was going to hang up but Redd suddenly cuts in.

"Oh I forgot! We’ll be sharing the room with three other roommates, by the way." She spoke excitedly, joy filling her voice, Dee stood there in silence, staring into the void as he tried to process what she had just said. Roommates? He supposed it was too hopeful to think that it was just going to be them alone, after all, but three roommates?

"Excuse me what?" He asked.

"I have to go now! I'll see you there in a few weeks? I’ll be out of town until then on a trip, so don’t plan on meeting up." Redd spoke, Dee sighed and rubbed his eyes.

"Fine.. I'll see you there, take care." Dee spoke and took the phone off his ear, hanging the call up and shoving his phone back in his pocket and walking towards the closet, eyes scanning over his clothing to mentally calculate how much he would need to take.

"Ok Dee.. no going back now." Dee mutters to himself, as he walks through the hall of dorms near the campus and eventually finds his room, he grabs the keys sent to him from his pocket and unlocks the door, opening it.

Inside, instead of finding only Redd, he finds her hanging out with 3 other people. Laughing, sharing.. banter. He closes the door behind him.

Must be the roommates that Redd mentioned… He thought.

Redd looked towards his direction and waved, standing up and walking towards his direction for a hug. Dee backed up a few steps before giving up and letting her hug him. Humiliating, but he would suck it up for now. After all, they were official. It was about time they acted like it.

"Dee! You're here!" Redd spoke, everyone in the room waved and greeted Dee, who wrinkled his nose and squinted at the roommates.

"So… Those are our roommates?" Dee asked Redd, not directly addressing the two men and one other woman, however before Redd could answer one of the guys in the room spoke for her instead.

"Why would we be here if we weren't?" He teased, Dee rolled his eyes and grabbed the bag and suitcase to unpack his stuff in his room, but stopped for a second when realization hit once again…

"Redd, which one of these is my room?" Dee spoke, however once again… One of the roommates spoke, this time, being another girl.

"I still haven’t chosen mine! So either two of the ones that are left!" She spoke. Dee sighed and brought his bag and suitcase to one of the first rooms, starting to unpack his stuff, starting with the textbooks he preordered, then his clothes, and finally his hygiene kit.

As he finishes unpacking, he grabs the calendar and pins it on one of the walls, marking the day that the psychology classes start with a pencil. He sighs, and walks towards the hall, peeking to see what Redd was doing.

As he watched, he noticed that Redd was still interacting with thir new housemates, eventually standing up and grabbing a few drinks from the mini fridge that was nearby and sitting down.

Maybe she’ll come back to me later.. Dee thought, walking back down the hall and entering his room, closing the door behind him and laying on his bed, looking at the ceiling.

"We’ll get some time alone soon enough…"

As Dee walked through the halls of the campus the next day, observing each small group of people, his gaze softening a little when he remembered the times that Redd and him would interact one on one. It had been a while since he had spent time with her.. The first few weeks of class have been a little struggle, his schedule wasn't really matching with Redd's… And to add more struggle, she was very interested in hanging out with her new friends…

He walks into the cafeteria and grabs a plate to start serving himself with whatever current leftovers are being served. As he grabs his food, he notices in the corner of his eye a brown haired woman.

Dee gives a quick glance and sure enough, it was Redd, however, his other 3 roommates were there with her. Dee sighs and keeps loading his plate paying the cafeteria workers for the food, walking towards one of the tables.

Redd notices this and waves over to Dee, clearly wanting him to eat with them, however Dee glances away and keeps walking.

"Dee…" Redd mutters to herself, a little sad that Dee has been a little abscent, however she quickly goes back to talking with her friends. She would probably have a talk with him later after the last few classes..

"The hell do I write for this.." Dee mutters to himself as he writes his notes on borderline personality disorder for the psychology class. The professor clears his throat and asks for the attention of the whole class.

"Okay, class… We will go back to the borderline topic after this quick analysis on why isolation can affect the human brain permanently." The teacher spoke and everyone looked up, a few people still wrote their thoughts on their notebooks but Dee paid attention.

"What happens when a person stays alone for a long time period?" The teacher spoke, everyone started to think on what could possibly that mean, Dee hums and also thinks on the possibilities.

"They yearn for someone to be with?" A women classmate spoke, the teacher something on the whiteboard as he speaks, Dee gives a quick glance towards the girl and lifts his brow.

"Exactly! And whenever it's temporary it can take time to heal, however for long terms… It can become chronic… That is called…" He stops writing and shows something that is written on the whiteboard.

"Chronic loneliness!" He spoke, Dee suddenly stops and starts thinking. Maybe he was being too rude to his new roommates and Redd. Sure, he wasn't really 'neglecting' her, he wanted her to come on her own and he didn't have interest in making new friends or even getting to know his roommates…

However… He also was having some discussions with Redd, his schedules weren't matching and she tried to confront him about not hanging out with her and their roommates.

"Dee, you've been avoiding your roommates too often!" She exclaimed, while Dee was trying to not discuss with Redd, he was starting to get a little impatient with her, Dee rolls his eyes and exclaims.

"I AM FOCUSING ON MY MAJOR, Redd!" Dee also exclaimed, it was good that their roommates were not present in the dorm at the time, otherwise it would be extremely awkward and weird…

"I think CERTAIN PERSON should also focus on her major!" Dee spoke, implying that Redd should stop socializing too often and start focusing on her football activities and major, Redd gasps in shock and slightly shoves Dee away, in which he flinches but stays still, with a angered expression on his face.

Dee however before the fight goes any further, notices that Redd loosens her shoulders and her gaze turns into a unreadable expression that switches to a small sad frown.

Fuck, he probably did something wrong.

"Look, Dee… I just-…" Redd mutters, struggling to get to say what she wants, caressing her arm, Dee squints and listens to Redd, regardless if he's mad or not, he sometimes gotta give a listen to whatever Redd has to say.

"You need to have… Fun, sometimes…" Redd spoke, after a few minutes of silence she walked away from the living room and opened the main door of the dorm, opening it, walking through it and closing it behind her… Leaving hanging a slightly mad and frustrated Dee.

"Now… Dee!" The teacher spoke, Dee's thoughts are interrupted by the teacher calling for his name, he shakes his head and his glasses almost fall, adjusting them.

"Uh- Yes?!" Dee spoke, the teacher pointed at the stuff written on the whiteboard with his marker, the stuff written on the whiteboard were questions about loneliness and neglect, but one question stood out for him…

'Did you ever stop socializing because of negative reasons?'

If he was honest, he wouldn't consider it a negative reason, he really had priorities other than hanging out but… He did indeed stop socializing after he moved into the college, it was first no interest in his new roommates, then it was his classmates… And finally…

It was Redd. He stopped talking to her and was instead discussing with her… It was a long time since they both discussed but after waiting for her to come, fights were a little more often.

Maybe i should talk to her friends- well- my roommates…

As Dee walks out of his shared dorm, he pulls out one of his many phones and looks for the contact of Redd, in which finds it and starts texting on the chat box.

"Hi Redd…" Dee - 7:22pm

He doesn't expect Redd to answer quickly so he places the phone on his pocket right away, closing the door behind him and walking down the hall of dorms, as he passes by he feels his pocket vibrate, indicating that it was probably Redd who answered his message, he grabs his phone and checks the notifications, noticing that it was indeed Redd.

"Dee? What happened?" Redd - 7:24pm

Well… Here comes nothing i guess…

"I was wondering… Where are y'all to…" Dee - 7:25pm

Dee struggles to type the words, he doesn't really want to hang out with his roommates, but he can't also stop hanging out with her girlfriend, deeply he loved her, and they have been fighting too much, maybe it would be good to remedy it with hanging out with all of them…

"Where are you all?" Dee - 7:28pm

The typing bubble appears, Dee chests tighten.

"DEE! YOU REALLY WANT TO?" Redd - 7:28pm

"I guess… I don't really want to be an asshole to you like that…" Dee - 7:29pm

"Hey" Redd - 7:29pm

"It's alright… I know you wanted to focus on your major…" Redd - 7:30pm

Dee sighs in relief and his thoughts start to calm down.

"We are in the football area!" Redd - 7:31pm

"Coming, stay there…" Dee - 7:31pm

Dee gives a warm smile to his phone and places his phone back on his pocket, walking towards the main area of outside of the college, directing himself towards the football camp, thinking on the warm smile of Redd, who probably was going to be so happy for him trying to hang out with her friends…

As Dee walks out of the college, he turns a corner to find the area of the football camp, in which from a distance, he spots Redd and his roommates, walking towards them.

Redd notices Dee and waves to him, calling for him.

"Dee! Hi! We're here!" Redd yelled from the distance, Dee sighs in relief when he notices the joy on Redd, waving back and sitting with Redd and his 3 other roommates.

Maybe it won't be so bad…
