It was a lovely day outside in the afterlife, with Smg0 tending to one of the many flower gardens that existed in the afterlife’s landscape. He always loved doing this on days like this, when the sun was beaming down upon him and the sky held little clouds and all was peaceful.
That peace would soon be interrupted when he felt a presence behind him, Smg0 turned around only to be faced with a black glowing soul, floating in place as it ‘stared’ at Smg0.
“Niles?” Smg0 sounded confused. It was in that moment several other glowing souls in various colours emerged from ‘behind’ Niles, all subsequently ‘staring’ at Smg0.
Smg0 frowned.
“Let me guess, you all decided to go fight that meme monster even after I told you it wasn’t a good idea and got beaten up, didn’t you?”
He didn’t need an answer to know that was the case, if their current forms weren’t an obvious indicator.
Smg0 sighed exasperatedly, but he couldn’t find it in himself to truly be mad at them. He found himself smiling fondly.
“Alright guys come with me.” He gestured for the souls to follow him as he started making his way towards his personal home. While on the way, most of the souls chose to stay close behind Smg0, while others- namely Niles and a salmon coloured soul- chose to rest upon his shoulders.
Soon enough they make it to his home, a big tall tree on a hill surrounded by flowers of all different kinds. While it seemingly had no entrance, with just a snap of Zero’s fingers, suddenly a door appeared and Zero let himself and the floating souls inside of his home.
Taking in the warm, homely scent around him, Smg0 got to work. He grabbed a large, spacious doggy bed and placed it on one end of the couch, and then he grabbed several comfy blankets and placed them on and around the bed, forming a cozy nest for all of the souls to sit in.
As soon as he finished, all the souls immediately gathered inside of the nest and made themselves comfortable, snuggling into the soft blankets. By the time they were all settled in, they looked like eggs inside a bird’s nest.
Smg0 couldn’t help but giggle at the utterly adorable sight before him and decided that he too should get comfortable.
So he went and grabbed an extra blanket for himself along with a book and sat on the other end of the couch, he covered himself before he cracked open the book and began to read.
After just a couple minutes of reading, Smg0 felt a tapping on his side. He looked down to see the salmon coloured soul hitting itself against his side to grab his attention.
“Yes Axol?” Smg0 asked. Axol ‘looked’ at the book in Smg0’s hands and back up again at him. Zero stared at him for a second before realizing.
“Oh! You wanna read with me?” Smg0 asked, to which Axol floated up to Zero and sat on his shoulder.
“Heheh, okay you can read with me.” Smg0 smiled before resuming his reading, occasionally looking between Axol and the other souls that sat in the nest and smiling warmly to himself.
An hour passed by before he was done with the book, sitting it down on the side before relaxing further into the couch. Axol kept himself sat on his shoulder, snuggling into the crook of his neck as he too relaxed. Smg0 chuckled at this, gently petting at Axol’s surface.
In that moment, he saw a handful of the other souls cobble out of the nest and over to Smg0. Some of them stayed at his side while some others sat themselves in his lap, Niles even sat himself on his other shoulder.
Smg0’s heart melted at the sweet display of affection the souls showed and he petted each of them in appreciation.
All of them would take a while to fully regenerate and get back to their original forms, but for now, in this peaceful moment, Smg0 would enjoy every single moment he had with them in these forms, for all eternity.
