Work Text:
"Jisung-ssi! Are you done with that essay yet?" shouted a sharp voice from the opposite corner of the office. Jisung's boss, Lee Minho loved yelling useless shit across the office for everyone to hear, especially Jisung.
Jisung felt a hand squeeze his. "Don't listen to him. He's just trying to make you angry." whispered Hyunjin, Jisung's best friend.
"I guess so..." Jisung trailed off.
"I asked you a question Han!" shouted Minho's voice again, snapping him out of his thoughts. "I need that essay!"
"It's almost done!" Jisung snapped back angrily. "God, why does he have to do this to me?" he whispered again to Hyunjin.
"No clue. You should probably continue working on that essay though. Just to be safe." Hyunjin suggested.
Jisung sighed. "Yeah I probably should."
It was hard not to be jealous of Hyunjin. A perfect life, a perfect boyfriend named Felix, a perfect job as far as he was concerned.
And then there was Jisung. The misfit. The weird kid in high school. Multiple failed relationships. He tried not to think about that too much. A perfectly annoying boss. This job was pure hell.
Jisung was off work the next couple of days. He decided to visit Hyunjin and Felix in their perfect apartment together.
Since their place was only a couple blocks from Jisung's, he decided that he was going to ride his bike there in the perfect autumn weather if he had nothing better to do.
The fastest route was under construction at the moment, so what should have been a short 15 minute commute turned into a 2 hour long.... Situation.
The tire popped. Not just a small hole, but actually exploded. Jisung turned the bicycle around and started walking it back home. He would have to cancel meeting Hyunjin and his boyfriend.
Muttering to himself and not paying attention, he accidentally ran the tire over Minho's foot. He looked up in horror, only to see Minho slightly smirking at him.
"Sorry Minho! Shit, sorrysorrysorrysorry!" Jisung apologized.
"It's fine. I promise. You don't need to apologize." Minho said gently. "I can help you fix that tire, if you want."
"Su-sure." Jisung stammered, caught off gaurd by Minho's change in personality.
Minho lifted the bike slightly off the ground. "Well, come on. Are you just gonna stand there?"
Jisung started to follow, then stopped. "Where are we going?" he asked.
Minho laughed. "Just my apartment. I'm pretty good at fixing things."
------------------------------------
Minho's apartment is nice. That's the first thing Jisung notices. Sure there's cat fur on the couch and there's a couple dirty dishes in the sink, but it's large and spacious. Almost perfect.
"So you have a cat?" Jisung asks trying to make conversation.
"I actually have two. They're staying with my mom at the moment, but you'll probably get to meet them later." Minho laughs. He has a nice laugh.
Minho takes the bike to a spare room filled with tools. Jisung just follows him around awkwardly.
When Minho has put a new tire on, it's already noon. He asks Jisung if he wants to stay to eat lunch and Jisung refuses, still confused about his boss's sudden change in character.
"You sure? I make pretty good food." Minho tries to convince him.
"Yeah. Anyway I told Hyunjin I'd join him later." Jisung explains.
"Well, text me if you change your mind." Minho winks and Jisung's heart flutters.
------------------------------------
When Jisung gets back to work, Minho is different. Nicer than before. Hanging out with Jisung on lunch breaks.
Jisung has changed too. He's smiling more, laughing more, and, most importantly, talking with other people at work other than Hyunjin.
One day, Minho came up to Jisung's desk. "Jisung. Can I talk to you in the hall for a sec?"
Jisung nods and follows him out.
"I can't stop thinking about that day in October!" Minho says as soon as they're out of the room.
"Me neither." Jisung admits. The truth is, ever since that day, Jisung has been imagining Minho's laugh before he goes to bed every night. He has been denying the fact that he has a crush on his boss.
"I really want to kiss you." Minho whispers softly.
"Me too."
Leaning in, their noses bump accidentally. Not perfect but Jisung giggles. Minho smiles. Their lips meet. Minho holds the back of Jisung's head to pull him even closer.
Jisung knows Minho wants more, so he ever so slightly opens his mouth, tilting his head to the side.
Minho's tongue slides in, licking the back of Jisung's teeth. Their tongues slide against each other, Jisung feels like he's melting. He feels like he's waited forever for this moment.
They break apart. "Thank you Jisungie. That was perfect." Minho sighs. "I've been waiting so long."
"Same." Jisung gasps, still breathless from the kiss.
"Come on, I want to show you something." Minho starts dragging him to the elevator.
"But-"
"Come on!"
------------------------------------
They probably look weird in public. Minho and Jisung are still in their work attire. Not the type of thing you typically wear to a cat cafe, Jisung thinks.
"What do you want to drink, Jisungie?" Minho asks gently.
"I don't know? What do you like?" Jisung whines.
"I mean, I usually get a iced americano but they have a special today. Strawberry matcha latte. Do you want that?" Minho tells him.
Jisung pretends to think for a moment. "Sure. Yeah, I'll get that I guess."
Minho walks up to the counter. "Two strawberry matcha lattes, please."
Jisung steps up to pay, but Minho stops him.
"Jisungie, it's fine. I can pay." Minho says, grabbing Jisung's hand.
"O-okay..." Jisung steps to the side to find a spot to sit.
------------------------------------
Minho finds Jisung petting a fluffy ginger-and-white cat.
"Minho, do you see this kitty it's so cute and fluffy! It's nametag says his name is Doongie! Isn't he so cute?" Jisung babbles.
"He definitely is." Minho agrees. "You know... You can adopt some of the cats here." He hands Jisung his drink, joining him in the hanging chair with the cat.
"Cool." Jisung murmurs, glancing at Minho's lips.
Minho notices him and immediately smirks. "Do you want to kiss me again?" he teases.
"What happens if I say yes?" Jisung asks.
"What do you think?" Minho pulls him closer. Jisung's breath catches in his throat as Minho kisses him for the second time that day.
Jisung feels happier than he has felt in months, maybe years.
------------------------------------
Jisung gets a text from Minho two weeks later. 1:43 AM
Lee Minho ꨄ:
Jisungie.
What would you say if I told you that I got that cat that you really liked?
Me:
I would probably run to your apartment to go see him.
Lee Minho ꨄ:
So you're coming?
Me:
Yes.
