Work Text:
Somewhere in the back of his mind Charlie knew that his husband was cheating on him.
But he'd never expected Ben to be caught out so publicly. Springing apart from a cuddle with his CPO (what even was that?) and then conspicuously sliding out of view of a “kiss cam”? There was no way to deny that.
To make matters worse it was a Coldplay concert. Ben had sneered at Charlie's suggestion that they go and there he was, looking carefree and loved up until the pair appeared on the big screen.
Charlie's phone pinged. And then pinged again. He glanced at it. It wasn't a grovelling apology, but was instead multiple friend requests on his private Instagram. The fucking vultures were already circling.
He had the presence of mind to change his social media avatars to something, anything, other than his and Ben's ersatz happily smiling faces. Then he turned his phone off.
He'd allow himself this evening to cry and wallow. Tomorrow he'd go home. His real home, his family who loved him and would help him through the next few months.
