Chapter Text
"I swear to god I can't stand you anymore" Mark said almost shouting "Can you leave me alone for a while?" it's been a short time since he entered SM, training was exhausting and meeting the people who he may have to debut with was difficult. He started being close with this Haechan boy who seemed nice... but honestly he was such a menace, deeply he is such an enchanting kid, but there was a problem. Mark couldn't stand Haechan's skinship all of the time, it was just not his vibe so they both argued often about that matter. "Why are you like this hyung? Whatever, I just know you like me too much to hate me" Haechan laughed and Mark rolled his eyes, he wondered how Haechan could be so carefree about every damn thing, meanwhile Haechan doesn't really care about much other than debuting and living peacefully while kinda having a mark brainrot. But it's just normal, he thinks, he's pretty much the only person who sees everyday and also talks to, Mark was also his roomate so he couldn't escape him. Practice kept going for a couple of hours, they were tired, thirsty and just wanted to go to their dorm. Haechan was so hungry and Mark was just wasted, not sleepy just phisically exhausted, lately he was so emotional, he missed home, his family, the food and more things. It has been 3 months since he moved here, Seoul was totally different from Canada, the ambience and lifestyle, it was like two different dimensions but what Mark didn't know was that the warmth from home and company was much closer than he thought, in fact , it lived with him, he just didn't know the path he has yet to walk to find the soul he has to live with.
"Hyung you're so pale, you seem sick, next time don't overwork yourself that much" Mark was sweaty and he didn't wanna wake up from the couch, but he had to shower. "And please go shower your gonna get the couch dirty." Haechan threw a pillow at Mark and then went to lay on his bed to rest. Haechan normally practiced singing after practice but today was a dance only practice and he didn't have the energy to follow the routine. After 30 minutes Mark got out of the shower, he saw Haechan asleep with his phone on his hand "Cute" Mark whispered and he went to prepare some instant ramen, he knew his roomate didn't eat too so he made dinner for two and added an egg to Haechan's ramen dish, as they always had dinner together Mark noticed Haechan liked his ramen with soy boiled eggs, so he added it. "Hey" Mark shaked him a bit to wake him up "I made dinner, come eat" Haechan rubbed his eyes and woke up, oh god the light was so bright for his poor tired eyes. "Thank you" He said and smiled, Mark wasn't the overly caring person, in fact he didn't really like expressing himself like that but Haechan noticed that Mark's love language was acts of service, he wasn't very good with words of affection in which Haechan was an expert, but somehow they fitted together and Haechan was glad because living like this is easy, no bad vibes. "You're welcome, I saw that you didn't eat, not that i really care, but well." Mark giggled and Haechan shaked his head "Whatever". They started eating and they've noticed how much they needed this meal, "I was so hungry for real I can't believe we survived today's practice, it was insane" Mark said while getting another noodle knot through his chopsticks, "I almost collapsed I was so hungry, Thank you for the meal hyung, even though you say you can't stand me, you still boiled a soy sauce egg for me. Cute." Haechan smiled happily and ate the egg, it was so yummy. "I still can't stand you don't get happy that easy, I'm just being nice" Mark rolled his eyes and Haechan laughed, "Has someone ever told you that you roll your eyes so much? I've seriously never seen such an expressive person" What? Mark knew his faces and expressions were sometimes obvious but were they really THAT obvious or did haechan just analize him too much.
They were supposed to go to sleep but Haechan was in a game night kind of mood, so for him, it was game night one way or another, even if the manager can enter the room, a round won't hurt anyone.
"Hyung"
"What?"
"Let's play"
"Haechan it's late already and the manager is gonna wake up, we are NOT gonna play games. It's already too much that we are talking"
"You're so boring hyung, anyways I'm gonna play"
"Haechan"
"What?"
"Haechan" Mark said with the let's not do it tone
"Come on hyung, practice tomorrow starts at noon, let's just play for an hour."
"Okay fine. BUT just an hour"
In fact, it was not just an hour, round after round after round, it was a never ending gaming session "Oh you're awful it's seriously inspiring how much you love games when you're so bad at it." Mark laughed and haechan just gave up after losing like...10 rounds "It's because it's been a while. I'm really not that bad hyung" Mark was cracking up at Haechan's excuses but also admiring the pout that he has on his face, wow seriously, he was so cute and his face was so round it's giving him cuteness agression "Seriously sometimes you are so cute." Mark said out of context, Why did he even say that? he thought, and Haechan was shocked, in the 3 months that they have lived together it was the first time Mark has said something heart shaking to haechan. "Huh?, What's wrong with you?" This was weird "Nothing, you're cute that's it. Don't think about it too much" Mark was trying to act non-chalant but something inside him was racing "I hate you" Haechan sighed.
It was already 3AM and they had to wake up at 9, but Haechan was a night owl and he couldn't sleep, Mark was trying to sleep but he was just staring at the wall. "Do you miss it?" Haechan asks hopelessly waiting for Mark's answer "Miss what?" Does he want me to talk or is he gonna say shit?- Mark asked himself. "Canada silly. Do you miss it?" And then, Mark faced towards Haechan from the other bed "So much. Seoul is so different, you know?"
So different. What was so different?
"How much difference is it?"
"The lifestyle, the vibes, but I think I miss what I've never missed that much before because now that's a part that's missing, I miss my family and friends, well the ones I made along the way because I've always been moving around, but I feel that's just a one-sided thing, I miss them but they don't, because I've never had real friends, like a best friend. Besides that I miss my routine, my home, pretty much everything that surrounded me before moving here, I think I just miss the ordinary life. And we are so young, I fear being alone and never finding people who'd really care about me or even care to know me."
"Then, i'll make Seoul special for you. And I care, just for your information you're already my friend, but maybe you're just the dumb type of person that asks people to be friends."
Mark chuckled, because it was true and he hates this, Haechan can already read him like an open book. Maybe he can fix the folded pages.
"Can we be friends?" Mark looked at Haechan and he just bursted out laughing. What a dumb roomate he had.
"We already are, silly" Haechan faced to his side of the wall and Mark too. Both smiled.
"Good night hyung" Said Haechan, turning the desk lamp off
"Good night" What a conversation this was, he thought "And thank you."
An "Hm" was the last thing Haechan said before going into dream world.
And everything was silent, even Seoul city or maybe soul city in a while.
