Chapter Text
This had to be Eggman's last stand. He had taken a break from attacking for years, at least, anything with much scale or him going onto the battle field. He did send out the odd Eggpawns to harass people, but it hasn't been a large mech in a very long time. Luckily, almost everyone Sonic knew was here; Shadow, Rouge, Knuckles, Blaze, Amy, Silver, Surge, the polycule consisting of Tails, Kitsunami, and Stardust. There was a lot of firepower on the battle field... for both sides.
The polycule was told to go after Eggman's adds to ensure that nobody was getting attacked from behind as the rest fought the mech. The thing was, Ivo was playing dirty this time. Unsuspectingly, he shoots a beam from his mech directly at Tails. At first, Stardust had no idea what was going on. They just heard a sound and saw a flash of light. Then, they see Tails start plumbiting to the ground.
"Tails- No!" They scream.
Sonic hears them, looking back to see the same thing. Kit catches the fox gracefully in his watery tails, setting him on the ground. He dashes over, seeing that Tails is unresponsive.
"Get him to a hospital quick! We'll be able to keep holding Egghead off!"
Stardust's hearing was blurry. They could only just barely hear Sonic's order. They lift up their critically injured fox and start running him to the hospital. The only thing giving them strength was adrenaline and the direness of the situation. They'd never been able to take charge like this before.
"Kit, you should go too."
"No. I'm gonna stay here and keep bashing these bots," he says, bumping his fists together, invigorated by rage.
Sonic gives him a nod of understanding before running back to his position.
Stardust found themself starting to be covered in Tails' blood. The fox's right arm and left leg looked bad. Really bad. Luckily, the fight was happening near a city, so Stardust could run there and find a hospital hopefully soon enough to save their mate.
