After finding Reiko outside the Kowloon ruins and dragging her with them to Hong Kong, Xiaohei felt very relieved. Both at not having to kill Reiko, surviving his employer, helping Yaomay stand on her own two feet and finding Reiko hale and healthy in front of the abandoned wreckage. All of his immediate worries taken care of, he felt a bit unmoored with his place in the world. Not to mention the future. However Yaomay acted as a good distraction in that aspect, because she dragged both him and Reiko around and entertained them with different kind of activities and chatter.
He was immensely grateful to her for that. Reiko was too, though she was more vocal about it than him. "Now, what do the two of you want to do today? Do you feel like sightseeing or maybe we could go for some bar hopping?"
Yaomay and Reiko started to go through many possibilities back and forth, while the only boy in their trio piped up sometimes to either agree or disagree with a certain idea. It was an engaging past time, unfortunately it didn't keep his attention firmly, because a cute piece of fabric caught his eye. He unconsciously stopped to peer at it, and marvel over the cut and decorations. "Xiaoheo! Why did you stop?"
Both Yaomay and Reiko ran over and watched him with concerned eyes. "Everything is alright. I just saw something I liked nothing more," the boy tried to brush off their concern, but when Yaomay turned around and saw what he was looking at, she squealed in delight. "Is this what you saw and liked? Oh my God it is so cute!" Xiaohei found himself confused for a bit, because most people especially of male-presenting variety did not agree with him, and woman usually found him weird for liking some of the same stuff they did. However, he should have known Yaomay and Reiko were not like that, although expecting the worst in people is a hard habit to break.
"Let's go and try it on!" Yaomay exclaimed excitedly and power walked them to the shop. After trying and buying the size that fit, all of them exited the shop with big smiles. "Damn! You found a gem, Xiaohei! That shop was awesome. Reiko and me also found some good hauls!"
Reiko and Xiaohei both agreed and started to plan the rest of their day. "Wait! I have a wonderful idea," Yaomay enthusiastically shouted out and cut their path with her bulk. "Let's go on a shopping tip for Xiaohei! Now that he is more confident in himself and his choices, we can totally refresh his wardrobe with some new clothes that fit his liking more!"
While Xiaohei tried to wrestle his emotions under control, Reiko readily agreed, so their shopping trip started with a swing. After the fifth store, Xiaohei stopped counting and lost the number of stores they visited and researched in a lookout for all the things Xiaohei would like. It was one of the most fun days he had in his life and by his friends enthusiasm it didn't seem to be stopping soon at all. However time was still passing and the day was waning so unfortunately they had to stop with their shopping spree, when the sky became dark. They returned to their hotel rooms and excitedly did a fashion show to show each other what they bought and how it looks on them.
That night passed with a hundred compliments and shouted out encouragements like: 'Wow, that is awesome, Reiko!' 'That looks so good on you, Yaomay!' 'That fit really fits you, Xiaohei!' and many more similar to that. When they showed everything, Xiaohei picked up his bags and went to his room with a spring in his step. He put the bags in the closet and fell on the bed exhausted, but satisfied nonetheless. It really was a nice day out. He hoped they would repeat it again.
