Chapter Text
Their fight was getting complicated. Night was Blood Wing's domain, and with one of his attacks, he had managed to destroy the surrounding lights, plunging Blue Cop and Blaion into darkness and putting them at a clear disadvantage.
Without the lights illuminating their surroundings, Jun and Solei couldn't recklessly command Blaion and Blue Cop; they might destroy something and get into trouble with the police or the mayor.
Meanwhile, Blood Wing took advantage of the situation to launch swift attacks. They would leap into the air and descend rapidly, striking Blaion with their scythe-staff and inflicting a deep wound.
From the wound, a greenish liquid began to spurt out "damn it" Blaion cursed under his breath, only to be struck again, this time more noticeably, on his leg. Blood Wing's attacks were dangerous and potentially lethal if they weren't careful. Blaion quickly aimed his cannons at the sky, but he missed everything.
Meanwhile, Blue Cop was also firing into the sky, providing cover for Jun and Solei, who, with the help of Garrison (Solei's robot servant), were trying to repair the wiring of a lamp that had been left undamaged after Blood Wing's attack, hoping to get some light back.
Just as they were about to succeed, Blood Wing attacked from above, plunging their scythe into Blue Cop's left shoulder. Blue Cop let out a cry of pain, startling the children and alerting Blaion, who tried to get there as quickly as possible.
After plunging their scythe into Blue Cop, Blood Wing began to drain his energy, gradually weakening him while growing stronger.
Blood Wing approached Blue Cop's neck and whispered in his audial in a mocking tone "Oh my, what a sweet taste".
Without wasting any time, Solei summons Blaion's weapon card and, despite the darkness and the probability of failing, orders him to attack "Blaion! Fire Roar Blaze" Trusting Solei completely, Blaion attacks in the darkness, and luckily for him, the blow hits Blood Wing.
Blood Wing is sent flying by Blaion's attack managing to free Blue Cop. "Argh!" Blue Cop lets out a small groan of pain after being freed.
But he quickly recovers, staggering slightly "Blue Cop, are you alright?" Jun asks worriedly. "I'm fine," he replies, though he lies slightly.
Blood Wing had managed to steal a considerable portion of his energy; his fuel levels were very low, and exhaustion was beginning to set in. Blue Cop shakes his head, forcing himself to wake up and be alert again.
Blood Wing had taken flight, and they lost sight of them once more. If only they had the moonlight, but that night was cloudy.
Blood Wing took advantage of this, soaring high into the air and then diving down, ready to deliver another punch.
Just as Blood Wing was about to land another punch on Blaion, Garrison managed to repair the lamp's wiring, illuminating their surroundings.
The sudden appearance of the light irritated Blood Wing eyes. They quickly used their servo to shield from the light, which hurt their eyes, leaving them slightly disoriented.
Blaion swiftly raised his sword and aimed it at Blood Wing. Despite being half-blinded, they managed to position their scythe in front of them.
Blocking Blaion's attack and struggling against him, Jun quickly seized this opportunity to attack.
"Blue Cop set up!" Jun quickly activated Blue Cop's weapon card, ready to provide support to Blaion. "Thunder Howl Smash!"
Blue Cop approached Blood Wing swiftly, ready to strike. Seeing him coming, Blood Wing used all his strength to send Blaion flying with a powerful kick.
Now aiming their scythe at Blue Cop to block his attack, Blue Cop growled, "Surrender, Blood Wing, you don't stand a chance," as he continued to struggle with Blood Wing.
Out of the corner of their eye, Blood Wing saw Blaion slowly recovering from the blow and beginning to rise. "You're wrong, I haven't played my secret card yet!"
Blood Wing managed to throw Blue Cop off balance and push him away. Just as Blue Cop turned his gaze back towards them, Blood Wing placed their scythe-staff in front of him.
The bat eyes on their staff and Blood Wing's own eyes lit up, paralyzing Blue Cop. "Argh!" A cry of despair escaped his vocalizer, and he fell to his knees.
"Blue Cop!" Jun screamed in despair as he watched Blue Cop tremble and growl softly. The sight brought back memories of when Blue Cop first contracted the beast virus.
Both Jun and Solei were worried. What could Blood Wing have done to cause Blue Cop to revert to such a state?
Blue Cop slowly stood up and looked towards Blood Wing. The tension was rising. Blaion quickly moved to the side of the children to protect them from any attack. Suddenly, they saw Blood Wing approaching Blue Cop.
A simple command came from Blood Wing's voice "Blue Cop..." Upon hearing his name, Blue Cop tensed and froze. What happened next would leave everyone astonished.
"Sit," Blood Wing ordered.
At their command, Blue Cop assumed a posture that made it seem as if he were sitting on all fours, while a bark escaped from his vocalizer.
Jun, Solei and Blaion simply couldn't believe what they were seeing, already having an idea of what Blood Wing might have done, as they continued to give orders.
"Paw," Blue Cop quickly placed his servo on Blood Wing's.
"Chin," Blue Cop raised his face to reveal his chin, which Blood Wing gently scratch.
"Lie down!" Blue Cop quickly lay down on the ground.
"Roll over!" Blue Cop obeyed, rolling on the asphalt.
This act was observed by both children and Blaion. "This guy can't be..." Blaion said in an irritated tone.
"Speak" Blood Wing continued.
"Bark!" A prominent bark came from his volcalizer.
"Good boy~" they said mockingly. Who would have thought they could reduce a Star Guardian to this?
While this scene continued to be observed by the children and Blaion, Solei decided to take advantage of Blood Wing's distraction so Blaion could charge at them.
Because Blood Wing was distracted mocking Blue Cop, they didn't notice Blaion's fist heading towards their face with such force that it sent them flying several meters backward. Now Blaion charged with his sword, and Blood Wing blocked the attacks with their scythe.
While Blaion distracted Blood Wing, Jun and Solei approached Blue Cop. "Blue Cop, why are you acting like this?" Jun could see Blue Cop still lying on the floor, his arms in a position that reminded him of a dog's paws, while making small whining sounds.
"Come on, Blue Cop, this isn't the time for that, wake up!" Jun pleaded desperately, trying to shake Blue Cop to get him to react.
Feeling Jun's hands on his stomach, Blue Cop barked again and turned around, getting on all fours while wagging his aft. He seemed to interpret Jun's actions as if he wanted to play with him. More barking followed.
"No, Blue Cop! This isn't the time for that, please wake up!" At this point, Jun begged him to come to his senses, but it seemed that Blood Wing's hypnotic effect was strong. Jun moved his hand in front of Blue Cop's face to wake him up.
But Blue Cop jumped forward while barking, again interpreting this action as some kind of play. Blue Cop's slight jump startled the children, who took a few steps back while shouting in surprise.
Hearing the children's screams, Blaion turn his head towards them. "Damn it! Blue Cop, what the hell do you think you're doing!" Blaion lowers his guard to look in their direction, and Blood Wing quickly takes advantage of Blaion's distraction.
When Blaion turned his head back toward Blood Wing, they had already positioned themselves in front of him, pointing their scythe at his eyes. Again, a pink glow shone directly toward Blaion, who let out a cry of surprise, "Argh!"
"Blaion!" Solei shouted, seeing him fall to the ground, trembling for a few minutes, digging his claws into the pavement, trying to resist Blood Wing's hypnotic effect.
"It's useless, there's no point in resisting, hahaha," Blood Wing laughed malevolently. After a few seconds of struggling, Blaion gave up. The children were starting to worry.
Dealing with a Blue Cop dog wasn't a problem, but how would they deal with a Blaion lion? Luckily for them, they had been wrong.
"Mreeow," a meow came from Blaion as he sat down on all fours, but with a more 'elegant' posture than Blue Cop.
"Mreeow," Blaion meowed again, licking the back of his servo and then running it along the back of his audial, just like cats do when they lick their paws and clean behind their ears.
"Good, now that you're both under my control" Blood Wing glanced at Blue Cop, who was still with Jun. *Whistle* Blood Wing whistled to get Blue Cop's attention.
Hearing the whistle, Blue Cop quickly raised his head toward Blood Wing "Look little doggy, a new friend has arrived to play" they said, pointing with one of their digits at Blaion, who was still grooming himself.
Blue Cop moves away from Jun and runs on all fours toward Blaion. As he gets closer, Blaion gets on all fours and bristles, hissing at Blue Cop. "Hisss!" Blaion's pupils become sharper as Blue Cop runs around him.
When Blue Cop gets a little closer, Blaion raises one of his servos, "Hisss! MEEOOW!" and hits Blue Cop's head several times before running off on all fours, again, Blue Cop thinks this is a game and runs after him.
"Blaion! Blue Cop!" Both children screamed as they watched the two bots walk away, Blaion trying to get away from Blue Cop and Blue Cop happily running after him.
Their antics were funny, but given their current situation, it became a nuisance. No matter how many times they were called, the two didn't return.
"Well, well, well, it seems you two are the only ones left now," Blood Wing's voice echoed behind them. Without hesitation, Solei acted quickly "Phantom Hornet set up!" followed by Solei. Jun decided to do the same, "Tigun set up!"
"Jun, Solei, let us take care of this guy." Tigun quickly aimed his cannons at Blood Wing, who rose into the air to dodge them.
"Venom-espia!" Phantom Hornet shouted from behind them, Blood Wing barely manage to dodge her attack by a hair "You two go after those two and bring them back to their senses!" Phantom Hornet exclaimed.
Jun and Solei nodded and headed towards Blue Cop and Blaion. Somehow, Blaion had managed to climb a tree, and despite being almost bent over, it was still able to support his weight.
He had climbed up there, trying to get away from Blue Cop "Hisss," Blaion hisses, while Blue Cop ran happily around the tree "bark, bark".
"How do we get him down from there?" Solei looked at Jun "First, we have to find a way to get Blue Cop away from him. It's clear that Blaion won't come down if Blue Cop is nearby."
Jun looks around, searching for something. His gaze falls on a stick lying on the ground. He picks it up and thinks 'Well, if he's acting like a dog then...'
"Solei, when I get Blue Cop away from here, head carefully towards Blaion." Solei nods and watches as Jun slowly approaches Blue Cop.
"Ooooh, Blue Cop!" Jun calls to Blue Cop, who stops and looks at him. "Do you want this?" he asks, waving the branch in his hand. "Do you want it? Do you want it?"
Seeing the branch swaying, Blue Cop starts waving his aft. "Go for it!" Jun uses all his strength, and Blue Cop runs swiftly toward the branch.
While Jun deals with Blue Cop, Solei approaches Blaion, who is still up in the tree. "Come here, Blaion, come here," she calls weakly, unsure how Blaion will react.
Blaion watches Solei approach. At first, he hesitates to come down, but seeing that Solei doesn't have bad intentions, he decides to jump from the treetop, landing just centimeters away from Solei.
Solei steps back a few centimeters and remains still for a few seconds, looking Blaion directly in the eyes. Then, she raises one of her hands and leaves it there, motionless, for a few minutes.
Blaion seemed to sniff her for a few seconds, and then, after a few seconds, he brought his head closer to Solei's hand. She began to pet him, and as she continued petting him, she felt a slight vibration followed by a "purrr" sound. Blaion was purring.
Solei was surprised, she had never seen or heard Blaion do such a thing. While she continued petting him, Jun approached her. "Solei, you managed to get Blaion to come dow-" Before she could finish, Jun saw that Solei had managed to calm Blaion.
Before continue, Blue Cop returned with the branch in his hand. Just moments before, Jun had watched as Blue Cop tried to pick it up with his mouth, but realizing he couldn't, he simply took it with his hand and ran back to Jun.
Seeing Blue Cop approach, Blaion reared up behind Solei, assuming a bristling posture as he began to hisses again. Blue Cop stopped and moved behind Jun.
"Now what? What do we do with them?" Jun asked, trying to prevent Blue Cop from getting any closer to Blaion. "There must be a way to wake them up, but how?" As Solei pondered this, a scream was heard in the distance.
It seemed that Blood Wing was somehow managing to take down Phantom Hornet and Tigun. "Jun! Solei! We'd appreciate it if you hurried!" Phantom Hornet pleaded desperately. Meanwhile, Blood Wing had grabbed Tigun, lifted him into the air, and dropped him, causing him to hit the ground hard.
"Argh!" Tigun let out a cry of pain, lying motionless on the ground. The fall had left him badly injured. "Tigun, take back!" Jun shouted, sealing Tigun again. "Rest, friend," he whispered softly.
Without Tigun's support, Phantom Hornet could barely keep up with Blood Wing. "Guys, help!" she cried desperately. Meanwhile, Jun was still trying to figure out what to do. Blue Cop and Blaion didn't seem likely to break free from the hypnosis anytime soon, so what could they do?
While thinking, Jun noticed Blaion's hand start scratching the ground. His attention was caught by a glimmer, the lamp's light seemed to be reflecting off the pendant on Solei's necklace, and Blaion appeared to be trying to catch it.
Then Jun's gaze shifted to Blue Cop, who was passing him the stick he had 'caught while wagging his aft.
Suddenly, something clicked in Jun's mind. "Solei, I have an idea." He quickly approached her and whispered something in her ear. Solei seemed to understand his plan and nodded. "Okay."
Meanwhile, Blood Wing managed to land a powerful blow on Phantom Hornet's propellers, causing her to lose her balance and crash to the ground. "Ugh," she groaned in pain.
Looking up, she saw Blood Wing plummeting towards her at full speed. She tried to dodge the attack, but unfortunately, she couldn't. Blood Wing slammed Phantom Hornet into the ground, leaving her nearly unconscious.
"Poor little wasp, looks like you lost, haha," Blood Wing laughed as they approached Phantom Hornet. They slowly pointed their scythe at her, ready to hypnotize her, but just as they was about to activate their technique, a voice was heard in the distance.
"Come on, Blue Cop, find it!" Jun shouted, pointing his finger at Blood Wing's scythe. Blue Cop quickly crawled on all fours toward Blood Wing and jumped on them, trying to bite and snatch the scythe.
"What the...?" Blood Wing quickly struggled with Blue Cop, trying to throw him off. "You damned vermin, get off!" Blood Wing pushed Blue Cop with all their might, but Blue Cop managed to hit their hand, causing Blood Wing to drop their staff.
Blue Cop quickly grabbed the staff and ran back toward Jun. "Get back here, you mutt!" Blood Wing started chasing Blue Cop, unaware that a point of light was pointing in their direction. "Blaion, go!" Solei shouted.
Before Blood Wing could react, Blaion tackle them. Trying to grab the point of light, Blaion unintentionally hit Blood Wing. "G-get way from me, you stupid cat!" Blood Wing put their hands up in front of them, trying to dodge Blaion's attacks.
"Uarhg!" With all their strength, Blood Wing managed to throw Blaion off and, in a swift movement, snatched their scythe from Blue Cop "I'm fed up with you all!" Blood Wing prepared to counterattack.
But something caught their attention. In the distance, they saw rays of sunlight beginning to appear. "damn it!" they said irritably. "This isn't over!" Blood Wing vanished their card weapon and transformed into their alternate mode. "This isn't the last you'll see from me! You'll pay for this!" And after shouting their threat, Blood Wing fled the scene.
Jun and Solei stood frozen, disappointed that Blood Wing had escaped, but they were definitely ready for their next encounter.
The instant Blood Wing disappeared into the distance, the hypnosis effect vanished instantly.
"What? What?"
"Where?"
"What happened?"
Blue Cop and Blaion asked simultaneously. Jun and Solei exchanged glances, then looked back at Blue Cop and Blaion. "It was a crazy situation," Solei began. "You won't believe what happened to you," Jun continued.
But before they could explain anything, a faint voice was heard in the distance. "g-guys, don't forget about me," Phantom Hornet said weakly before completely collapsing. "Phantom Hornet!" both children cried as they ran worriedly toward her.
-***-
Sweat trickled down Blue Cop and Blaion, both frozen in place as laughter echoed in the background. "No way, pfft, no, haha, I can't believe what you're saying is serious," Edo said between laughs. "Who would have thought Blood Wing had such an ability?" Theo commented. "Who would have thought Blaion and Blue Cop could behave like that?" Anna continued.
"I-impossible! I-I would never do such a thing!" Blaion replied, embarrassed, refusing to believe a single word Jun and Solei were saying. "But it's true! You and Blue Cop acted that way," Jun responded.
"I-I'm sorry, Jun, but I agree with Blaion," Blue Cop said, lowering his head, trying to hide his embarrassment. "A-besides, without proof, we can't confirm it," he finished.
"Oh, but there is proof," everyone's eyes turned to the source of the voice. "Vera?" They all said in unison, "That's right, did you forget I was there too! I just hid behind some bushes when that strange bat/vampire/robot ambulance appeared."
Vera approached the others and pulled out her phone. "Look, I recorded the whole thing!" Watching the video again, the whole place erupted in laughter. Blue Cop and Blaion's faces were burning with embarrassment.
"V-Vera, would you be so kind as not to show that video to anyone else? And delete it too, if possible?" Blue Cop asked, mortified. "Too late, I already shared it with our friends," Vera replied, showing Blue Cop and Blaion the group chat.
Apparently, everyone else also found Blaion and Blue Cop's behavior hilarious. "Oh deus…" said Blue Cop. "Please earth swallow me up," Blaion added.
