Work Text:
Some random words may hide their brutal nature
with a facade of innocence and temperance.
The trust and patience you had years to build and nurture
can be destroyed with lies and crude irreverence.
The wounds caused by some thoughtless words are hard to mend,
they may keep bleeding sluggishly for years with no bother:
the one who hurt you so may be your bestest friend,
but in your hearts you won't forgive each other.
Despite their plainness words are easy to abuse –
for some they are enough to be demure and nervous:
just one wrong word and then there is no use
to seek exoneration with your hasty «sorry»'s.
Don't waste your words if there's no sense in idle chatter.
Don't let some gossip rule your life:
your innocent intention doesn't matter,
if your untoward wording has become a source of strife.
Don't waste your words to blame without proof.
Don't waste your words to pat somebody's feelings.
You can't change (when they're done) the things you do.
You can't take back your words past their delivery.
