Work Text:
Ryoshu stuttered forward, hand reaching out, words teetering from the tip of her tongue. She was kind of the reason why Kira had ended up here, if she was going to take responsibility. . .
"Yo. . . W.H."
Kira didn't turn to look up at Ryoshu, but her shivering became milder.
"I. . . 'm sorry. . . For what happened at the house. I know the scars from those spider bites hurt; I understand what being raised and tutored under that old man was like."
Kira's paced breathing started to gradually decelerate. She stopped shaking. Vespa's eyes lightened, he could see the unravelling thread.
"Superficial wasn't it?" Ryoshu gave her the answer. "The house of spiders. . . Nothing was supposed to escape it, not you, not I, and especially not him. It was a waste bin, something people go to be discarded, and you climbed your way out. Kira," She turned to look at Ryoshu kneeled beside her. "You're strong. You have so much room to become stronger than you already are; so much maturing to do that that O.D. didn't let flower."
At that critical moment, Ryoshu placed a hand on Kira's shoulder. "I.P.O.Y."
Sinclair's grin glimmered. ". . . proud of you. . ." He spoke under his breath.
"Forsooth! Will thou discard thost owns dreams for their siblings' when they care not of your well-being?" The other sinners began to ring out, starting with a resounding pep talk from Don Quixote.
"Family ain't a word you throw around willy nilly ya hear? True family won't shank you in the back for crumbs lass."
"When a big ol oligarch kicks you out like that, don't try worming back in. Cozy down in a nice foxhole you'll feel welcome in."
Seems as though the sinners have warmed up to the apprentices during their stay. It's as Ezra said, they were just victims.
Kira's eyes glimmered with tears, as if she was lacerated with deep needles. True kindness from the heart. Her eyes slowly moved across the sinners around her.
"You're. . . You're right."
She turned back away, looking down as she gripped her book of vengeance. With on jagged motion, she tore the chains apart and tossed the book to the ground. The literature toppled to the ground, ending up facing towards the sky.
"From now on, I'll have family that cares."
Ishmael's eyes widened as she spoke through her teeth.
". . . Do you know what happens now?"
Kira, with her hands on her hips chirped up, "Yup! I'll have one less home to turn to. . . And they'll likely be after me. . . But at least I'll feel belonging; love."
The pages on the discarded book unfurled as ink pressed into the empty sheets from thin air.
"Kira Shozoku - Turning ones back on family."
