windforce held her son closely, holding him as he refused to cry.
ban believed he was too strong to cry, at least in front of windforce.
he never liked to show weakness in front of others.
"whats wrong ban..?" windforce asked uncharacteristically gentle
ban let out a small choked sob trying his best to stay strong, despite not needing to right now
"t-that.....they...they escaped....i finally caught them...but-but they escaped...i...i failed, momma..."
windforce moved a strand of ban's hair out of his face looking down at her upset son,
windforce wiped a tear off ban's distressed face
"who escaped?" she wasn't mad, she wasn't disappointed, just curious.
banhammer sniffled and then replied
"t-that damn cultist...."
windforce nodded understandingly
"those guys have been giving you trouble for a while haven't they?"
banhammer nodded,
"that's okay, you don't have to think about them right now."
she held ban close again,
"right now you don't have to be anything other then my son,"
windforce pulled banhammer into her lap, letting him rest on her,
"your safe here. you can rest now."
ban seemed to calm down and eventually fall asleep resting on his mother,
the wind howled quietly in the background as they both rested.
they were both warm, they were both safe,
they were home
