Work Text:
The thing about Sharky and Kenny was that they’d built their relationship on pure chaos and excellent timing.
They’d never planned for it to happen. It just… did.
One late night after filming, everyone exhausted, Sharky had stayed behind in the living room scrolling on his phone. Kenny had flopped down beside him, head leaning against Sharky’s shoulder like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Sharky hadn’t moved away.
Kenny noticed.
That was how it started.
Now, months later, they were experts at stealing moments. A brush of fingers when passing each other in the hallway. Sitting just close enough on the couch that their knees touched. Late-night conversations whispered in bedrooms with doors locked and phones facedown.
To the rest of the Beta Squad, they were just Sharky and Kenny — loud, competitive, always arguing like brothers.
“Why are you always on my case?” Kenny complained during filming one day.
“Because you’re annoying,” Sharky replied without missing a beat.
Kenny grinned. “Say you love me.”
Sharky rolled his eyes. “Dream on.”
Behind the scenes, Kenny had leaned in and whispered, “You literally kissed me an 10 minutes ago.”
Sharky had to physically turn away to stop himself from smiling.
The rule was simple: no one could know.
Not AJ, who noticed everything. Not Chunkz, who lived for gossip. Definitely not Niko, who would never shut up about it.
So they were careful.
Until they weren’t.
The Beta Squad house was quiet in that rare, suspicious way — the kind that only happened when everyone had temporarily disappeared. Niko was upstairs "working" (scrolling on Tiktok) and Aj and Chunkz were out for food.
Sharky was in the kitchen, leaning against the counter, arms folded, hoodie sleeves pushed up.
Kenny paced back and forth, clearly wound up.
“That challenge was dumb,” Kenny said. “Why do I always get stitched?”
Sharky glanced at him. “Because you talk too much.”
“That’s literally my job.”
“You’d still talk too much even if it wasn’t.”
Kenny stopped pacing and turned to face him. “You love it.”
Sharky smirked. “I tolerate it.”
Kenny stepped closer. “Liar.”
The distance between them shrank. Kenny’s voice dropped, losing that loud edge he put on for everyone else.
“You’ve been staring at me all day,” he said quietly.
Sharky scoffed. “Have not.”
“You have,” Kenny insisted. “Every time I talk.”
Sharky looked away. “You’re imagining things.”
Kenny reached out and tugged lightly on Sharky’s hoodie. “You do this when you’re lying.”
Sharky’s smirk faded. “You do realise we’re downstairs.”
“So?”
“So… we said no risks.”
Kenny tilted his head. “Just one minute.”
Sharky hesitated. He always did. And he always lost.
Kenny pulled him in and kissed him, slow at first, like he was giving Sharky time to pull away.
He didn’t.
Sharky kissed back harder, hands gripping Kenny’s jacket. Kenny smiled into the kiss, laughter bubbling up before he kissed him again, deeper this time.
They were fully gone — no cameras, no rules, no Beta Squad — just them.
“AYOOOO!!”
Sharky nearly jumped out of his skin.
Kenny yelped and stumbled back.
They spun around to see AJ, Chunkz and Niko standing frozen in the doorway, takeaway bags in their hands.
Chunkz’s bag slipped and hit the floor.
AJ blinked slowly. “Nah.”
Niko squinted. “Hold on… rewind.”
Silence.
Sharky’s face went bright red. “This— this isn’t—”
Kenny cut in. “Okay, listen—”
Chunkz pointed at them. “YOU MAN WERE KISSING.”
AJ laughed, hands on his head. “I knew you two were weird.”
Niko gasped dramatically. “This explains EVERYTHING.”
Sharky groaned and covered his face. “I actually want the ground to swallow me.”
Kenny sighed, then stepped forward, shoulders squaring like he’d made a decision. “Alright. Yeah. We’re together.”
Another pause.
Then Chunkz grinned wide. “ABOUT TIME.”
AJ shook his head, laughing. “You lot thought you were slick.”
Niko clapped his hands together. “Shenny. Confirmed. I’m tweeting.”
“No you’re not,” Sharky said instantly.
Later that night, everyone was piled into the living room, the energy buzzing.
“So how long?” AJ asked.
“Months,” Kenny admitted.
Chunkz whistled. “That’s crazy.”
Niko leaned forward. “Who kissed who first?”
Kenny pointed. “Him.”
Sharky protested. “You leaned in!”
Chunkz laughed. “I love this.”
Eventually the jokes died down, and the room settled. Sharky sat next to Kenny on the couch, knees touching openly now, no pretending.
Kenny nudged him. “You okay?”
Sharky nodded, quiet for once. “Yeah. Just… didn’t think it’d feel this easy.”
Kenny smiled softly. “Told you.”
Sharky leaned against Kenny’s shoulder, the room warm and loud and too aware of them now.
It lasted about five seconds.
“So,” Chunkz said, dragging the word out, eyes sparkling with mischief, “do you man hold hands during scary movies or what?”
Sharky immediately sat up. “Relax.”
Kenny didn’t move. “Yeah,” he said casually. “Sometimes.”
Sharky snapped his head toward him. “Why would you say that?”
AJ burst out laughing. “OH MY DAYS.”
Niko slapped the arm of the couch. “I KNEW IT. I KNEW YOU WAS SOFT.”
Sharky groaned. “You lot are actually unbearable.”
Chunkz leaned forward. “Nah, nah, nah. I’ve got questions. Important ones.”
Kenny sighed dramatically. “Here we go.”
Chunkz pointed between them. “Who’s more clingy?”
Sharky opened his mouth instantly. “Him.”
Kenny gasped. “EXCUSE ME? You’re the one who gets mad when I don’t text back in ten minutes.”
“That’s because you disappear!”
“I’m BUSY.”
Niko cackled. “This is better than Netflix.”
AJ shook his head. “This explains why Sharky’s always in a mood when Kenny talks to other people.”
Sharky spluttered. “That is NOT—”
Kenny smirked. “It’s a little true.”
Sharky stared at him. “You’re enjoying this.”
“Immensely.”
Chunkz stood up, pacing like he was hosting a podcast. “Alright, next question. Who said ‘I love you’ first?”
Sharky went quiet.
Kenny glanced at him, then smiled softly. “Him.”
The room went *ooooh* in unison.
Niko clutched his chest. “I’M SICK.”
Sharky muttered, “I hate you all.”
AJ grinned. “Nah, you’re whipped.”
Kenny leaned over and whispered, “Told you.”
Sharky elbowed him, but he was smiling.
Chunkz suddenly snapped his fingers. “WAIT. This means… all those times you man disappeared during trips—”
AJ’s eyes widened. “THE HOTEL ROOMS.”
Niko stood up dramatically. “THE ‘LATE NIGHT TALKS.’”
Kenny covered his face. “Please.”
Sharky sighed. “We were careful!”
Chunkz laughed. “Clearly not careful enough, bro. Man got caught in 4K.”
AJ leaned back, arms crossed. “I can’t lie though. You two make sense.”
Sharky blinked. “We do?”
AJ nodded. “Yeah. Kenny’s loud, you’re calm. He’s chaos, you’re structure.”
Kenny smiled. “Aww.”
Sharky cleared his throat. “Don’t make it weird.”
Niko grinned. “Too late.”
There was a beat of calm — then Chunkz snapped his fingers again.
“So… are we allowed to make jokes?”
Sharky and Kenny spoke at the same time.
“No.”
“Yes.”
Sharky turned to him. “What?”
Kenny shrugged. “I think it’s funny.”
Chunkz clapped. “SAY LESS.”
“Oi,” AJ said, pointing at them, “no more fake beef on camera. We’ll know.”
Sharky groaned. “Great.”
Niko leaned in. “If you argue now, I’m assuming it’s foreplay.”
Sharky grabbed a pillow and threw it at him. “You’re disgusting.”
Kenny laughed so hard he nearly fell off the couch.
Chunkz wiped his eyes. “I can’t believe this. Beta Squad lore just expanded.”
Sharky looked around the room — his friends, the noise, the teasing — then glanced at Kenny, who was still smiling, still leaning into him like he belonged there.
“Worth it?” Kenny asked quietly.
Sharky nodded. “Yeah. Worth it.”
Chunkz pointed at them. “Oi. Stop being cute. It’s making me uncomfortable.”
AJ laughed. “Welcome to the family, lads.”
Niko raised his phone. “Group chat name change?”
Sharky sighed. “Don’t you dare.”
Kenny squeezed his hand under the blanket.
Too late.
Beta Squad was never letting them live this down.
***
The next morning, the Beta Squad house was buzzing in a very specific way.
The kind of energy where something had happened, everyone knew it, and nobody was mature enough to act normal about it.
Sharky came downstairs first, hoodie up, coffee in hand, mentally preparing himself.
Kenny followed a minute later, loud as ever. “WHO ATE MY CEREAL?”
Sharky didn’t even look up. “You did. Last night.”
Kenny paused. “Oh.”
AJ, already setting up cameras, raised an eyebrow. “You man share groceries now?”
Sharky choked on his coffee.
Kenny grinned. “Efficiency.”
“Efficiency,” Chunkz repeated, laughing. “Yeahhh.”
Niko appeared out of nowhere with his phone. “Don’t say anything. Just… act normal.”
Sharky shot him a warning look. “You’re the least normal person here.”
They all gathered for filming. Cameras on. Mics clipped. The usual intro energy.
“Yo what’s good guys—” Chunkz started.
“—we’re the Beta Squad,” AJ continued.
Sharky waved at the camera. Kenny threw up a peace sign.
Normal.
Very normal.
Until Kenny leaned slightly toward Sharky and whispered, “Your mic’s crooked.”
Sharky froze.
Kenny reached over and adjusted it for him, fingers lingering for half a second too long.
AJ made a choking noise off-camera.
Chunkz turned away from the lens, biting his lip. “I’m crying.”
Niko mouthed *focus* at them.
They started the challenge — some ridiculous competitive game that required teamwork and yelling.
Kenny, as usual, was yelling.
Sharky, as usual, was trying to keep things under control.
“WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO HIM?” Kenny shouted.
“Because he’s making sense for once,” Sharky shot back.
Chunkz pointed at the camera. “See? Lovers’ tiff.”
Sharky snapped, “We said we wouldn’t say anything!”
Kenny blinked. “You just said ‘we.’”
Everyone lost it.
AJ doubled over laughing. “CUT. CUT. I’M DONE.”
Niko clapped like a seal. “You man are TERRIBLE.”
They reset.
Second attempt.
This time, Sharky made a conscious effort to stand on the opposite side of the room.
Kenny noticed instantly. “Why are you so far away?”
Sharky hissed, “For the VIDEO.”
Chunkz whispered loudly, “Aw, long-distance.”
Kenny ignored him and wandered right back over, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with Sharky.
AJ sighed. “I’m not even mad. It’s just funny.”
During a break, Kenny flopped down next to Sharky, stealing his water bottle.
Sharky didn’t even react. “Don’t finish it.”
Kenny took a sip. “Too late.”
Chunkz’s eyes widened. “Nah. That’s intimate.”
Niko gasped. “That’s CRAZY.”
Sharky finally snapped. “YOU LOT DRINK FROM EACH OTHER’S BOTTLES ALL THE TIME.”
“Yeah,” AJ said calmly. “But not like that.”
Kenny smiled. “Like what?”
“Like you’re in love,” Chunkz replied.
Sharky buried his face in his hands.
The final straw came when they were setting up for the last round.
AJ checked the camera. “Everyone ready?”
Kenny threw an arm around Sharky’s shoulders without thinking.
There was a beat.
Kenny froze.
Sharky slowly looked up at him.
Chunkz gasped dramatically. “HE FORGOT.”
Kenny yanked his arm away like he’d touched a hot stove. “Muscle memory.”
Niko lost it. “Nahhh, that’s insane.”
AJ wiped his eyes. “This footage is unusable.”
Sharky sighed, but then laughed — actually laughed — because what was the point of stressing now?
“Alright,” Sharky said, hands up. “We’re bad at this.”
Kenny grinned at him. “Told you we should’ve just acted normal.”
Chunkz pointed. “THIS IS YOU MAN ACTING NORMAL.”
They wrapped filming eventually, somehow.
As the cameras turned off, Chunkz clapped his hands together. “Right. That’s enough teasing for today.”
Two seconds passed.
“So,” he added, “who’s spooning tonight?”
Sharky threw a cushion at him.
Kenny caught it, still laughing.
Beta Squad survived the shoot.
Barely.
***
Morning came way too early.
Sharky was half-awake, half-asleep — that perfect state where your brain was quiet and your body was heavy. The curtains were barely open, sunlight leaking in, the room calm for once.
Kenny was knocked out beside him.
Actually knocked out.
Mouth slightly open. One arm flung across Sharky’s chest like he’d claimed him in his sleep and refused to let go. Sharky had woken up earlier, clocked it, considered moving the arm… then decided against it.
For once, it was peaceful.
No shouting. No cameras. No teasing.
Just Kenny breathing softly and Sharky finally getting decent sleep.
Kenny mumbled something incoherent and tightened his grip.
The door flew open.
“GOOD MORNING LOVERS.”
The lights snapped on.
Sharky jolted so hard he nearly fell out of bed. Kenny woke up with a startled yell, sitting upright instantly.
“What the— WHAT’S HAPPENING?”
Chunkz burst in first, holding his phone up and already recording. AJ followed, laughing, and Niko came last with the biggest grin known to man.
“Rise and shine, Shenny!” Niko announced.
Sharky stared at them, horrified. “WHY ARE YOU IN HERE.”
Kenny looked around, confused, then looked down.
Then froze.
“…Why is my arm—”
“Oh.”
“Oh NO.”
Chunkz zoomed the camera in. “Nahhh, look how you woke up together.”
AJ was crying with laughter. “Man said ‘just trying to get some sleep.’”
Sharky scrambled backward, grabbing a pillow and throwing it straight at Chunkz’s phone. “TURN THAT OFF.”
“It’s not for posting!” Chunkz protested, still filming. “This is personal memories.”
“That’s WORSE.”
Niko leaned against the doorframe. “You man look like a married couple.”
Kenny ran a hand through his hair. “Bro I was ASLEEP.”
“And cuddling,” AJ added.
Sharky buried his face in his hands. “I hate it here.”
Chunkz panned the camera dramatically. “Let the record show: Kenny was the big spoon.”
Kenny’s head snapped up. “WHY ARE YOU EXPOSING ME LIKE THIS.”
Sharky muttered, “You literally drooled on my hoodie.”
Kenny gasped. “DELETE THAT.”
Niko wheezed. “THIS is what you man were hiding?”
AJ leaned closer. “Can I just say — you both look too comfortable.”
Chunkz nodded. “Yeah, no shame whatsoever.”
Sharky looked up, deadpan. “You broke into our room.”
Chunkz shrugged. “Unlocked door. Rookie mistake.”
Kenny flopped back onto the bed dramatically. “I just wanted sleep.”
AJ grinned. “You’ll sleep when we’re done bullying you.”
Sharky sighed, but then Kenny reached over and lightly nudged his shoulder, quieter now.
“You alright?” Kenny whispered.
Sharky nodded. “Yeah. Just… next time we’re locking the door.”
Chunkz gasped. “NEXT TIME?”
AJ laughed. “Hear that? They’ve accepted it.”
Niko bowed. “Our work here is done.”
Chunkz finally lowered the phone. “Alright, alright. We’ll let you man sleep.”
They headed for the door.
Then Niko turned back.
“Oh — one last thing.”
Sharky groaned. “What.”
Niko smirked. “Shush.”
Kenny snorted. Sharky threw another pillow.
The door shut behind them.
Silence.
Kenny rolled onto his side, facing Sharky. “Well… good morning.”
Sharky sighed, then smiled. “Morning.”
Kenny hesitated, then pulled the duvet back up. “We going back to sleep?”
Sharky nodded and leaned in again, this time not even pretending he cared.
“Yeah,” he said quietly. “Let them talk.”
***
By the time Sharky and Kenny finally dragged themselves downstairs, the house was silent.
No shouting.
No laughing.
No Chunkz commentary echoing through the halls.
Sharky paused at the bottom of the stairs. “That’s… suspicious.”
Kenny yawned. “Nah. They probably went out.”
Sharky looked around the empty living room. No cameras. No phones. No people.
“…I think we’re safe.”
Kenny smiled instantly. “Finally.”
They wandered into the kitchen, still half-asleep. Sharky moved straight for the coffee machine like it was instinct, hoodie sleeves pushed up as he started filling it with water.
Kenny leaned against the counter, watching him for a second.
Quiet.
Peaceful.
Then he stepped forward and slid in behind Sharky, pressing chest-to-back. His arms wrapped around Sharky’s waist easily, hands resting low on his stomach like they belonged there.
Sharky froze for half a second.
Then relaxed.
“Thought you were tired,” Sharky murmured.
Kenny rested his chin on Sharky’s shoulder. “I am. This helps.”
Sharky huffed a quiet laugh. “You’re clingy in the mornings.”
“Only with you.”
The coffee machine whirred softly. Kenny rocked them slightly, slow and lazy, like they had all the time in the world.
Sharky reached back and rested his hand over Kenny’s. “If they come in again—”
“They won’t,” Kenny said confidently. “They’re probably not even here.”
Sharky hummed, leaning back just a little more into him.
Domestic. Comfortable. Private.
Wrong.
“OH MY GOD.”
Sharky nearly dropped the mug.
Kenny yelped and instantly tried to step back — too late.
Standing in the kitchen doorway were Chunkz, AJ, and Niko.
Again.
AJ had his hands on his head. “WHY do we keep walking into this.”
Niko wheezed. “Bro said chest to BACK.”
Chunkz pointed directly at them. “Nah, nah, nah. You man are TAKING THE MIC.”
Sharky stared at the ceiling. “I swear we checked.”
Kenny groaned. “WHY do you lot move like NPCs.”
Chunkz laughed. “Nah, because why is Kenny hugging him like rent is due.”
AJ smirked. “Morning cuddles? In MY kitchen?”
Niko leaned against the counter. “That was tender. That was soft.”
Sharky muttered, “We thought you’d left.”
Chunkz shook his head. “Left? Nah. We heard the coffee machine and sprinted.”
Kenny looked betrayed. “That’s insane behaviour.”
AJ laughed. “You man really said ‘finally some privacy’.”
Niko clasped his hands together. “Look at Sharky’s little smile though.”
Sharky snapped, “I did NOT smile.”
Kenny glanced at him. “You did.”
Chunkz gasped. “CLOCKED.”
AJ crossed his arms. “So this is how you act when no one’s watching.”
Kenny shrugged. “Maybe.”
Sharky sighed, then gave up trying to hide it. Kenny’s arms were still around him anyway.
“Happy now?” Sharky asked.
Chunkz nodded proudly. “Very.”
Niko grinned. “I’m learning so much.”
AJ leaned closer. “So who makes breakfast?”
Sharky answered without thinking. “Me.”
Kenny added instantly, “I help.”
Chunkz slapped the counter. “COUPLE ROLES CONFIRMED.”
Sharky finally turned in Kenny’s arms. “You lot are unbearable.”
Chunkz smiled at him. “You love us.”
“…Unfortunately.”
Chunkz raised his phone again. “Don’t worry, not recording.”
Sharky squinted. “Put it down.”
Chunkz laughed and lowered it. “Relax. We’ll let you be cute.”
A beat.
Then Niko said, “Just not in front of us.”
AJ nodded. “Yeah. Take it upstairs.”
Kenny groaned. “THIS IS OUR HOUSE.”
Sharky shook his head, coffee finally done. He handed a mug to Kenny without even looking.
Kenny took it, smiling. “Thanks.”
Chunkz pointed. “See? That. That right there.”
Sharky took a sip. “I hate all of you.”
But he was smiling.
And Kenny’s hand never left his waist.
Because apparently, in the Beta Squad house, being adorable was a full-time hazard.
And they were failing spectacularly.
***
By the time breakfast was finished, the teasing finally died down.
Not because anyone matured — but because Chunkz got distracted by food, AJ started talking about logistics, and Niko wandered off to annoy someone else. The house slowly settled into its usual rhythm.
Sharky and Kenny ended up back on the couch.
No cameras. No filming schedule. Just background noise from someone’s phone and the quiet clatter of dishes in the kitchen.
Sharky sat with his legs stretched out, coffee balanced on his knee. Kenny slouched beside him, shoulder pressed into Sharky’s like it had always been that way.
For once, no one said anything.
Kenny broke the silence first. “You good?”
Sharky nodded. “Yeah. Just… thinking.”
“Dangerous.”
Sharky smirked. “Shut up.”
Kenny laughed, then grew quieter. “This week’s been a lot.”
Sharky glanced at him. “You mean getting exposed, bullied, filmed, and walked in on every five minutes?”
“Yeah,” Kenny said. “That.”
Sharky exhaled slowly. “I thought I’d hate it.”
“And?”
“And I don’t.”
Kenny’s smile softened. “Told you.”
Across the room, Chunkz clocked them from the kitchen.
“Why are you man being calm,” he said suspiciously. “I don’t like it.”
AJ looked over. “Don’t interrupt. This feels like character development.”
Niko whispered loudly, “This is the quiet before they start holding hands again.”
Sharky didn’t even look up. “We can hear you.”
Kenny shrugged and laced his fingers with Sharky’s anyway.
Chunkz gasped. “BRAZEN.”
AJ laughed. “They’ve evolved.”
Sharky shook his head. “You lot have bullied us into confidence.”
“Growth,” Chunkz replied proudly.
Later, as the day slowed and everyone drifted off to do their own thing, Sharky and Kenny found themselves alone again — this time in the hallway, light streaming in through the windows.
No sneaking. No checking corners.
Just them.
Kenny leaned against the wall. “So… no more secrets.”
Sharky nodded. “No more.”
Kenny smiled. “Good. I was bad at hiding.”
“You were awful.”
“Still worth it.”
Sharky stepped closer, resting his forehead against Kenny’s. “Yeah. It was.”
From the other end of the hallway—
“OI.”
They both sighed at the same time.
Chunkz leaned out of a doorway. “Do that upstairs. Or at least warn us.”
Niko popped his head out too. “I’m emotionally invested now.”
AJ added, “I give it two weeks before this becomes normal.”
Kenny laughed, loud and easy. Sharky laughed with him.
“Come on,” Kenny said quietly, taking Sharky’s hand. “Let’s go.”
Sharky squeezed it back.
They walked off together, unbothered, unhidden, still getting roasted — but solid.
No more sneaking around corners.
No more stolen moments.
Just Sharky and Kenny.
Shenny.
Beta Squad chaos included.
And honestly?
They wouldn’t have it any other way.
