Jonathan was a nice boy. He was polite and very kind and smart. Until he started to fall in love with Nancy Wheeler. His little brother's best friend's older sister
But she was dating Steve Harrington. The douchebag of the school.
One night, Jonathan was making popcorn for a movie that he was going to watch by himself since it was prom night. And nobody had asked him to prom. Until he got a knock at the door. And he answered it to see him. Steve.
"Hey, Jonathan! Um... I was wondering if-"
"What do you want."
"You to be my prom queen?..."
Silence.
"I'd rather die."
The door slams. Steve is shocked. And frustrated. He scoffs, stomping over to his car. Then a thought popped into his head.
If I can't be yours, nobody can.
Jonathan the next day looked for a tree to study for science class. Just to see each one had the initials 'H + B' carved into every single one. He was confused, trying to figure out what it meant.
He invited Nancy over, then leading her to the trees. She almost immediately got it.
