Work Text:
And the universe said… One of many lines in the credits that Oli didn’t read. Instead he sat there in the darkness, thinking about his friends and how he missed them. He couldn’t do anything else, so he just sat there and thought. (He had left to get a snack.) No he hadn’t, he couldn’t go anywhere. (He had left for the day and was going to come back in the morning.) No, because he was trapped, he couldn’t leave. (It was the next day, and he had changed clothes, which ruined the continuity.) His clothes were the same and he had no way of telling time in this - he blinked. And blinked again. The sunlight was harsh after who knows how long stuck in those credits. There was a campfire with some chairs around it, and an enormous bridge in the distance. It was clearly player built, and the moment he saw it he knew he wasn’t alone in this world. He chose to ignore it and try to find his way to his megabase, for real for real megabase because Sausage was not here to show him up on the building front. But he wouldn’t actually mind if Sausage was here. After all, that’s why he went to see god in the first place. But Sausage couldn’t be here. This was a single-player world and not a server. (This was Empires and he knew it.) So when he stumbled upon a sign that said Dawn, of course he followed it. Maybe the villagers in this world were honoring him. (They weren’t, because villagers can’t make signs with writing on them. Especially not so far from a village.) He didn’t believe himself when he thought that villagers could make things like this, but the voice in his head wouldn’t stop him from hoping he was on his own. He couldn’t face anyone right now, including his best friend Sausage. Sausage was the reason he was in this mess in the first place, since he never would’ve left Afterlife if he hadn’t wanted to see Sausage again. Although god, whoever she was, had some blame too. (Pearl was nice and only wanted what was best for Sausage.) As he arrived in the town of Dawn, he looked for life and found a tavern. Since he liked playing music-(Hallelujah came to mind.)- he decided to pick up the horn and start playing for the people. (They were villagers, not real people.) They were real enough for him to bask in applause, so there, mysterious voice in his head. Eventually Gem - Gem! - showed up and he tried to wrap his head around the idea that he was on Empires SMP. (He’d been here the whole time, so it wasn’t hard to adjust to knowledge he already had.) Gem didn’t remember him, so he tried to not act too familiar with her. He probably failed miserably, but at least he tried, right? As he tried to find his way back to the Olipeligo, the ground gave way beneath him and he lost consciousness.
