The girl next door

Summary:

Katsuki had always watched from afar, the girl who took up her thoughts all the time also happened to be everywhere. She can’t help but bury her deep emotions for her and pray that she would soon disappear

Chapter Text

The girl in front of her was familiar. Tan skin, big eyes, long green coils down to her elbows. Her lips were plump and shaded pink and brown.

The look in her eyes made you feel guilty, the sheer emotion they held was excruciating. Especially for someone like Katsuki.

She kept inching closer, her doe eyes not leaving Katsuki’s face.

Those plump lips parted slightly as their proximity got closer.

The room was spinning, sweat dripped from every surface on Katsuki’s skin. Her mouth was dry while her palms were shaking and wet. Her stomach turned in disgust.

She stood frozen in place, feeling her body jerk forward before being torn from her dream, her breath sporadic and painful.

She blinked her eyes a few times before gaining full consciousness.

it was still dark when she looked out the window, peeking out towards the house of the very girl she had been dreaming about.

with a sigh she collapsed back into bed, not being able to fall asleep the rest of the night.

“Katsuki! get down here!”

Mitsuki called from downstairs, Katsuki still laying in bed, her eyes glued to the ceiling, still not dressed.

Her body wouldn’t move, she glanced at the clock: 7:45 AM

The yelling from downstairs only got louder the longer she laid, her patience shortening with every second that went by.

After a few more moments, she sprung up and slammed the door after her when leaving the house.

“you a little warm?” Kirishima asked as the blonde climbed into the car.

Katsuki glared sharply at him.

As much as she hated to admit it, Kirishima was one of the only people Katsuki truly felt comfortable around. He was loud, and obnoxious, but understanding and kind, annoyingly so. He pissed Katsuki off more times than she could count, like when he dyed his hair a week after Katsuki bleached hers and automatically made her want to dye it natural again.

Kirishima said it was fun to “match”. Katsuki couldn’t hold back a gag.

“dude, you have something under that, right?” Kirishima asked while nodding at the black hoodie Katsuki was wearing.

“i’m fucking cold alright?” Katsuki snapped as sweat dripped down her bare back.

“okay…” The tone in the red haired boy’s voice pissed Katsuki off.

“Hey, there’s Midoriya, we should give her a ride.” Kirishima pointed to the girl exiting the house next to Katsuki’s.

“No.” Katsuki said quickly.

“why not?” Kirishima asked, not picking up on the panic laced in Katsuki’s response.

“Her mom’s strict, she doesn’t want her taking rides from classmates.” Katsuki lied.

“oh really? …hm.” Kirishima shrugged before driving away from the house and towards the school. The hot tempered blonde stared out the window as they drove past palm trees and houses. The sky was clear and the air salty. The truth was she was hot, as hell. She hadn’t considered where she lived her whole life while rushing to get dressed this morning. Her mind was preoccupied these days and she fucking hated it, and the green haired girl next door was to blame for it.

She could tell Kirishima why. He probably wouldn’t judge her if she did, but she would have to unpack her ‘emotional baggage’ as he would put it. And Katsuki wasn’t ready to admit that Izuku affected her in any way.

“Denki wants to go to a party this Friday, you coming?” Kirishima asked as they drove.

“No” Katsuki replied simply.

“cmonnnn,” Kirishima groaned. “it’ll be fun I promise! everyone’ll be there. You don’t wanna miss out do you?”

Katsuki glared at him.

“I’ll tell him you’re coming” Kirishima said with a pointy grin.

Katsuki simply rolled her eyes but didn’t protest further.

When they arrived at school, dunce face was already waiting for them.

“Bakugou!” Kaminari walked up to the two as they exited Kirishima’s car and gave Katsuki a hug that she quickly pushed off.

“You seem charming as ever!” Denki commented sarcastically while putting his hands on his hips and grinning widely.

“where you waiting for us?” Kirishima asked as he got out the car and walked up to the two.

“only for a little while,” Kaminari shrugged.

“Kiri told you about the party right?” He smiled excitedly at Katsuki.

“I’m not going.” Katsuki scoffed.

“What?! Dude you don’t want to know what I’ve done to get us an invite, okay? Do you know who’s hosting? Yaoyarozu. She’s more loaded than the freaking president! If you don’t go you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.” Denki was out of breath as he finished his big speech.

“Dramatic much?” Kirishima chuckled.

“You’re going.” Katsuki rolled her eyes for the hundredth time this morning as dunce face pointed a stern finger at her, she simply pushed past him and started walking towards the school, her friends following behind.

“Hey what’s with the hoodie?” Denki asked as they walked to their first class, Katsuki turned the corner and ignored his question.

First period was literature in Mr. Aizawa’s, Katsuki took her seat near the front and unpacked her things reluctantly.

Aizawa sensei was strange, but Katsuki didn’t mind. He walked into class with sunken eyes and scruffy hair, barely acknowledging the class before starting the lesson. Katsuki scribbled down notes as the teacher spoke in the same monotone voice he always did, while resisting the urge to look back at the girl she knew sat behind her.

At the end of the lesson, worksheets were passed down the rows, Katsuki slipped the paper behind her without looking back, feeling a hand brush against her own and a shiver ran down her spine.

When the bell rang, she dashed out of the door before she could get another glance of the girl, avoiding her was the only way to keep her sane.

Next was history, then math, PE, and science.

The blonde waited outside the building for Kirishima to come out and bring her home so she could finally get some sleep, staring at her phone by the car, her head perked up when she heard the obnoxious voices of her friends getting closer. She spotted the usual suspects, with a few extras tailing behind them as they laughed boisterously.

“Hey! were you waiting long?” Kirishima asked as he walked ahead of the others and towards Katsuki.

“No.” The blonde lied.

“Okay good!” Kirishima smiled and put an arm around Katsuki’s shoulder as the others approached them.

“You finally in a good mood now Bakugou?” Denki teased as he walked next to Jirou, a girl in their grade.

“You finally get a brain?” Katsuki snapped.

Denki just let out a laugh, Katsuki could tell he wanted to impress the girl next to him hard.

He kept talking very loudly and animated that Katsuki started to just tune him out, waiting for him to finish so she could go home.

“Hey, Midoriya!”

Katsuki flinched.

The curly haired girl turned around a bit surprised, her messenger bag hanging from her shoulder.

“You doing anything fun this weekend?” Denki asked as the girl walked up to them.

“oh, uh not really,” Izuku chuckled and answered politely.

She was always like that, polite. The bow on her uniform was tied incorrectly, her skirt exactly the right length, just at her knees, and her smile was sweet and welcoming.

“You wanna go to Yaomomo’s party on Friday? Bakugou’s going aren’t you?” Denki smirked as he looked at the blonde.

“go die.” Katsuki muttered.

“oh, well my friends don’t really like to go to parties I guess,” Izuku replied, glancing at Katsuki before looking back at Denki.

“You can hang with us!” Denki replied enthusiastically, his eyes nearly shining.

“She doesn’t want to go, take the fucking hint.” Katsuki spoke up with irritation. The stunned look on Denki’s face pathetic.

Izuku looked frantically between the two, stuttering before speaking again.

“uh, yeah! yeah maybe I’ll see you there.” she smiled again, Denki forgetting about Katsuki’s comment and brightening up again.

“Okay! see you!” He waved as Izuku started walking to her bike.

“See you,” she glanced one time at Katsuki before muttering at the end, “See you there Kacchan.”

“Kacchaaaannn, ooh Kacchannn, hey can I call you that from now on?” Denki moaned as Kirishima drove them both home.

“Go kill yourself.” Katsuki’s face was burning as she sat in the front seat, refusing to look at Denki’s dumb face.

“Hey quit it man,” Kirishima said over his shoulder. “I’m trying to drive here.”

“Sorry, sorry, It’s just that Midoriya is so cute. Did she call you that when you were kids? Before you were corrupted,”

Denki smiled cheekily.

Katsuki stayed silent.

“Hey, how come you guys don’t talk much anymore? Did you piss her off so much she ghosted you?” Denki kept going.

“Dude, just drop it.” Kirishima warned, glancing at Katsuki with a hint of sympathy that the blonde hated.

Just before He was about to say another comment, the car came to a stop.

“Oh, guess i’ll see you guys tomorrow,” Denki smiled as he grabbed his bag and opened the car door. “see you, Kacchan,” He laughed before running up to his house before Katsuki could deck him in the face.

“Just ignore him Kats, he’s trying to get under your skin.” Kirishima said softly as they drove off.

“Yeah, well, his girlfriend looks like a dyke so,”

Kirishima stayed silent.

Katsuki knew it was rude, but whatever.

When they pulled in front of Katsuki’s house Kirishima stopped the blonde before she could get out.

“wait,” he grabbed Katsuki’s arm as she pulled on the door handle, stopping reluctantly and looking back to see what he had to say.

“I know Midoriya is kind of a…. touchy subject but just try to keep an open mind, okay?”

What the hell was he talking about anyway.

“Yeah, okay.” Katsuki replied dryly before swinging her bag over her shoulder and trudging to her front door.

Kirishima simply sighed before waiting for her to disappear inside and drove off.

Katsuki ignored her parents as she stomped upstairs and collapsed into bed, her tiredness suddenly nonexistent.

She groaned dramatically in bed, finally ripping off her hoodie and trudging to the bathroom to take a shower, needing to clear her head.

She scrubbed her skin raw, the boiling water steaming up the mirrors in the room, only finishing when her mom screamed at her to stop wasting water.

After drying off and changing into an old t-shirt and sleeping pants she went downstairs to eat dinner and tune out the mundane conversations her parents were having.

After washing the dishes she snuck back into her room and sat at her desk, glancing at the window right next to her bed.

She chewed at her pencil as she stared at Izuku, the view into her bedroom was almost perfect, creepily so.

She was also at her desk, probably studying. Her hair was tied into a messy bun while a barrette laid on the top of her head, keeping her bangs out of her eyes.

After a few more seconds of staring hopelessly, Katsuki got up and closed her shade aggressively.

She finished her math and history homework with much reluctance and fell back into bed. When she checked the time it was only around eight, but it would be a while for her to fall asleep.

That night was filled with more dreams of tan skin and glossy eyes.
