jimin doesn't know how, but they've found themselves at the local dog cafe just a couple of blocks down from his university. in some twisted way, jungkook had convinced him to take him there during one of his visits.
"can we please go? you told me the other day your friend works there too! and I haven't met any of your other friends besides our mutual ones" jungkook is tugging his sleeve now. he's trying to pull back, one because he's not going to let jungkook stretch one of his favorite sweatshirts. and two being because he's really not in the mood to walk down a couple of streets in the freezing cold weather to pet a dog or two.
"stop lying, you've met my other friends before. remember that one day you skipped class and waited for two hours until my lecture was over? and ended up falling asleep on one of the benches and the security guy almost made you leave until he saw me approaching? everyone basically learned of your existence that day" jimin brought back the cringeworthy memory that wants jungkook want to crawl into the depths of earth and never come back. "plus it's cold, I'm not going to walk in that weather." he points to the window that displayed the snow falling outside.
"i'll drive! and when you see those puppy eyes, you'll be warmed up inside" jungkook is poking him again. and jimin simply cuddles further into the blanket spread on the couch as jungkook talks. he frowns when seeing that jungkook wants to pull it away from him.
"come on! I have to leave soon. I want to spend our last few hours visiting the dog cafe"
"wouldn't you rather cuddle instead?" jimin gives no effort into fighting back because jungkook has pulled the blanket past his torso and now he's just reaching his arms up towards his boyfriend like a child. jungkook rolled his eyes, a habit he's learned well from yoongi.
"yeah, cuddle with the animals"
they have a staring contest for the next five seconds, until jimin blinks.
"ugh I give up, I really hate you." he grumbles, heading to his bedroom to grab another coat, his third layer because mid-january is fucking cold.
jungkook claps excitedly, following behind until jimin is stopped in front of his closet before scooping his smaller boyfriend up into his arms.
"i'll still drive if you let me" he mumbles into his neck. jimin pushes away due to the fact that jungkook's breath against his neck was tickling him and also because he really wants to just grab his jacket and get this thing over with.
"uh, how about no?"
"jiminnie! look at this one, he's so cute" jungkook exclaims loudly, pointing at the rottweiler hiding himself behind the leg of the chair placed next to him. the puppy looks back at jungkook with wondering eyes. the boy reached his hand out, in which the puppy took a step back before slowly approaching jungkook and coming to sniff his hand. jungkook giggles and jimin watched their interaction.
"I think he likes me" jungkook proudly concludes.
jimin laughs, nudging his boyfriend. "you say that about all of them."
"only because it's true"
"i like you" jimin says. he leaning in for a kiss. but jungkook is oblivious to that because of the puppies that were all making its way towards them now.
"i know" jungkook replies with a small smirk on his face, before getting up and walking further down into the cafe to find his next favorite puppy.
he sends a snapchat to taehyung, out of boredom and also because he thought it was funny.
it doesn't take long for him to get a reply; two actually.
time flies when jungkook is too busy fawning over the puppies, because now it's gotten dark outside without neither realizing.
"we should leave before it snows again and actually settle" jimin says, pointing out the glass doors where the couple could see the lit streets.
"but it's only 7pm" jungkook pouts.
"i kind of have to drive to your dorm and back to mine, it's going to take an hour" jimin reminds his boyfriend in a soft tone. he mirrors the pout as he's running a hand through jungkook's hair. "i'm sorry, babe"
the younger boy heaves out a sigh, finally following the older to the exit. he gives a final wave to the animals, promising to make a return visit before they are hit with the cold air.
it doesn't take long for their hands to find each other.
"promise we will get a dog when we live together?"
"what the hell, jungkookie?" jimin laughs, almost missing the buckle to fasten his seatbelt.
jungkook frowns. "i just really want a dog, I mean, did you see...?" his voice trails off which caused jimin to miss the last few words.
"i did see, baby, and although they were absolutely adorable, we cannot afford to get a dog yet. hell, we don't even live together yet. plus, think of all the cost and time we need to put it. it's a lot of commitment"
"i know. i just..."
"yeah and i know you think you can right now, but let's just wait it out okay?" jimin smiles. jungkook looks at him for a while before sliding on his own seatbelt. jimin places a quick kiss on his lips before turning on the road to leave.
"hey, too bad we didn't see your friend today" jungkook suddenly noticed when they are a couple of miles away from the coffee shop.
"i guess we'll have to come back soon" the comments wants park jimin the 2nd groans, and jungkook quite satisfied that he'll be seeing the dogs again soon.
