Work Text:
Zagreus dragged himself out of the river, groaning. Death was merely an inconvenience, immortal as he was, but it was a frustrating one nonetheless. Especially when he’d almost made it, that crisp surface air close enough to taste.
Then, a brief bit of carelessness and his journey was set back to its beginning.
But he would not be deterred. Each time had brought him closer, and next time would not be “almost”.
Zagreus spared a moment to check in with his friends, but he didn’t linger long; he was ready to set out again. As many times as it took.
