Will has always struggled with accepting his feelings for his best friend, he hated himself for it, he wanted to confess to Mike so bad, but Mike has a girlfriend and he definitely doesn't like guys, he was a bit jealous of El but he could never hate her. She was pretty, kind, a perfect girl for perfect Mike Wheeler.
When El became his sister he saw how amazing she was, Will soon actually bonded with her and they became the most amazing siblings, but deep down Will was still so jealous, so, so very jealous
One day Will and El per usual, were on the couch watching the babysitters club when they heard a knock on the door
“I’ll get it El”
When Will opens the door he sees Mike, the long curly black haired, puppy eyed, Mike Wheeler. Will immediately melts.
“Hey uh is El here?” Oh, of course Mike wanted to see El, its never “oh hey Will could me and you hangout” no never that, its always “Wheres El” “Els the best” “i love El”
“Oh yea she’s here, we were just watching the babysitters club” Will steps away from the door to let Mike in.
“Ok uhm i’m gonna go to my room, you guys can finish the movie without me, i need to finish a painting” that last part was a lie, he just wanted to get away from them because he knew they would just end up making out.
“Ok bye Will!”, oh El, El was perfect for Mike, so sweet and kind. As soon as Will got to his room the tears started, hot, steamy tears. He felt ugly, disgusting ‘why cant it be us’ he thought, he loved El like a real sister but he was still so jealous of what she had.

POV switch
“Hey Mike!i actually wanted to talk to you about somethi-”
“El i don't love you”
“Im sorry El, i just don’t get the click anymore, you know?”
“Oh ok well thats actually what i wanted to talk to you about, I don't love you either, im sorry to, and i actaully like Dustin”
“El im sorry i didnt tell you sooner, i- i think i like Will, if you are uncomfortable with me dating right now because we, you know are breaking up, thats totally fine i can tell Will in the future”
“Mike, its ok, i already told Dustin i like him anyway, we're not together we both obviously wanted to wait until me and you were broken up to date”
“So your ok with me asking Will out?”
“Of course! And dont tell Will i told you this but- you definitely have a big chance” El knew Will liked Mike and She was totally fine with it because by the time he told her, she didn't like Mike anymore.
“Wha- what do you mean”
“Youll find out soon enough, anyway im gonna go to Dustin's house to talk to him now that we are broken up”
When El leaves Mike heads to Wills room, but as he starts to to knock, he stops, he hears Will crying
“Will is- is everything alright”
“Yea Mike i’m fine, please just go…”
“Will please, i have to talk to you”
Will opens the door to let Mike in, Mike immediately sees Wills tears.
“Will…what happened”
Will doesn't know what to say
Mike just gets straight to the point “Will i don't love El, i love you, me and El broke up..” Will cant answer
“Mike i-” Mike cups Wills face to wipe the tears away “Will im sorry i didn't send you letters i- i wrote but couldn't send them i was too honest in them and i thought you didn’t like me..or wouldnt accept me..”
“Mike”
“Will i love you, so much”
Wills is crying harder now, not sad tears, but happy.
Mike closes the space between them and connects their lips together, it was soft at first like a ‘is this ok?” kiss, Wills cups Mike's cheeks, Mike sees this as a yes so he deepens the kiss, it wasn't sloppy, it was a ‘finally’, finally they both accepted themselves and got to love each other. Will pulls away from the kiss and leads Mike to his bed to sit down.
“So, how long?” Will starts laughing “what?”
“I've liked you for 3 years, so how long have you liked me?” Mike says in a playful tone
Will flops on the bed “10 years”
“Wow” Mike flops next to Will, its silent for a bit until, they both start laughing like their kids again, just in the moment, being them, being Mike and Will.
“I love you Will Byers”
“I love you Mike Wheeler”
