Chapter Text
Clearsight, the dragon of too many threads, the seer of all outcomes, knew the chances of her falling into that river unconscious was small.
I’m getting close, from the futures I have scoured, those dragonets should likely be around this area of the river. Although, It is a displeasure that I have to risk myself around this river.
She also knew that if she fell deep enough into the river, the futures stop for her. Not in that she dies no, it’s that she could never see herself past the point where she swam too deep.
Still, it is only a small chance and even then if I die the Pantala is already stable enough.
Sadly for her, this time her luck ran dry.
The tree! It’s falling must-
In this edge case: a thunder strike caused a tree to fall and caused her to fall into the river unconscious. Then she sank deep, deep enough to where she saw the futures stop.
Then she began to float up for no other reason than magic.
Eventually she could think, and from the moment she could visions filled her head. She watched the infinitum of possibilities of a path seer play in her head. Then it stopped, allowing her to momentarily glance at a reflective shard seeing another version of herself who simply smiled and waved.
In that single moment where she saw the shard, a connection was made.
The visions started again, but this time she washed as the possibilities collapsed into a much thinner stream. She would see herself talking with Dragons from both Pyrria and Pantalas. Each discussion taking place between had a specific mirror she would gaze into. And each time she gazed into that mirror she would hear a single greeting: “Know All Outcomes, Know All Clearsight, Know All Things” she then blacked out.
…
“GASP!”
Clearsight woke up suddenly, unfolding her wings as she looked around frantically. She found herself in a wooden infirmary in a forest that was very unfamiliar to her. But, before she could look around more she heard the sound of 2 dragons .
“Lily, one of the patients has woken up suddenly! We have to hurry!”
“Ok, ok, ok… coming Lifehealer.”
A few seconds passed until 2 more dragons entered the room. It was a nightwing and a rainwing.
“Are you ok nightwing? Did anything happen?” the nightwing spoke
Out of everything that she could have woken up to, this was by far the most absurd. She was dumped into a river during a storm! Not an ocean. Sure, her fates always seemed to end when she tried to dive deep into it, but she always assumed it was death.
Why is a nightwing here? Why is a rainwing here? Where am I? Why didn’t I see this in the paths? Am I dreaming? I only fell into a river? No wait, it was that river! Did this river always lead to here?! I need to see the paths! She thought frantically.
“Lifehealer, can you slow down? They’re clearly not completely lucid yet.” The Rainwing followed
That was her cue to calm herself down.
“Just… give me a moment” Clearsight responded.
Calm down, just focus on the present… I should ask questions. Would help me make sense of the futures when I look at them. I hope none of them are mind-readers.
A few moments passed then Clearsight asked her first question.
“What’s today's date?”
“Oh! It’s 5020 A.S. The 2nd day after new year. You really missed out on the new years celebrations especially for the end of the decade!” The rainwing blurted out.
5020 A.S.?! Going into that river made me time travel 2000 years from now?!
“Lily, you were just speaking on how… nevermind. Anything else you want answered” the nightwing responded back.
Clearsight took another moment to calm herself.
I should probably not reveal much until I have a look at the futures… I can still get more information on what happened in the… 2000 years I was gone.
“I would like to know more about this world when I wake up actually. I don’t… recall much about this world and I don’t think i’m from here to be exact…” Clearsight answered.
The rainwing and nightwing then looked at each other for a moment before whispering something she could not hear. Then, once they were done, the rainwing then looked at her with a grin clearly excited to spout the events of the last few years to her.
“Well then, the past few years have been insane for this world, you know. Like, 5012 a 30 year war ended and a few months later some 2000 year old animus dragon nearly enslaved the continent. Then, barely a month after there was this other content with 3 new tribes Hivewings, Silkwings and Leafwings suffering under a mind control crisis with some crazy plant being used by some crazy queen and was stopped soon after. Also apparently, the Hivewings were born after that 2000 year old dragon’s girlfriend?”
“Honeslty, the train does not even end there. Like 2 years later the entire world discovered that magic exists. Like, we had animus magic before which kind of did everything you wished but only a few dragons were born with this. This new magic is apparently available to everyone but like, it’s much weaker and complicated? I think that's all for the brief rundown.”
Upon hearing what the rainwing said one thing be became clear to Clearsight:
I’m going to spend a long time using my visions to adapt to this new world.
“I think that's enough for now. Let me rest, we can talk more about what happened later.”
With that Clearsight rested on the bed once more. Ready to glance into the futures once again.
…
She did not have control of the first visions she saw.
The first vision was of her staring at a veiled mirror bracing herself for the moment she pulled off the cloth. Then, when she pulled it off she got a glance of herself and a splitting headache. The vision suddenly shifts to 3rd person ending with the sight herself staring into the mirror watching her expression shift as if she heard something. The vision then ends with her saying with confidence “Yes, I accept”.
The second vision was of her going about her day yet always staring at the ground feeling a sort of dread as if looking ahead put her in danger. Suddenly, she heard the sound of glass and before she could react she saw the shards each having a reflection of herself and causing that same splitting headache. The vision shifts to the 3rd person once again as she sees herself looking into the glass shards with a look of displeasure forming on her face. The vision then ends with a much more displeased “Yes, I accept”.
The 3rd vision was of her looking at someone getting ready to write on a sheet of paper. She saw herself writing a draft for something called “Changes to the article ‘Similarities between the futures of worlds where the future-future river is present’”. Then, the visions skips to a future moment where she sees herself locked in a trance where she was staring directly into the mirror. The vision then ends and she regains control of her future sight.
She spent the rest of her time “sleeping” tracing futures. She found that most of the futures led to a scenario similar to the first vision or the second. Then, from beyond that point the futures were immediately cloudy only granting her small glimpses at most.
She also found that dragons and places were gaining magical abilities. To her it was like they were randomly enchanted one day to have these abilities. Although, animus magic is believed to be dead and this new magic was complex. Case in point, the way they talked about ‘magic’ differed from the moments she viewed: some treated it as a process they use to wield, others an abstract art that is used on instinct, some a place to draw from, others a gift to show their heart to the world. Whatever this ‘magic’ was immediately prioritised for her to study.
Right before she wakes up Clearsight suddenly found herself in a large circular dome observatory. The place was surprisingly well lit despite being in a void. Looking up, Clearsight could see golden stars each connected with a golden line to make a network. What it was for? Clearsight could not tell at this moment. Finally, in the center of the dome she could see a dangling golden line orbited by hovering glass shards.
She tried to walk closer, but when she got near she felt a barrier preventing her from touching the glass shards. She touched that barrier and when she did her world went black.
Then, a single voice, her own voice, broke the silence.
“If Clearsight knows all outcomes, and if Clearsight knows all Clearsight, then Clearsight knows all things.”
She then woke up shortly, in the middle of the night, after touching the barrier. Clearsight then decided to get some actual rest for the night.
…
It was almost mid-day when Clearsight woke up and when she did it was her top priority to find Lifehealer or Lilly. Thankfully, their office was located on the same pavilion.
“Good morning Lifehealer” Clearsight greeted as she walked in.
“Yes, good morning or well, afternoon to you too. Did you have a nice rest? It’s almost suntime” Lifehealer asked in response
“Yes, well, I’m rested enough to listen to all the changes that happened recently.”
“Good, where do you want to start? I have prepared a much more in depth summary of everything from magic to history for you.”
