Work Text:
Blaze had been at the side of Sonic for a while, they had shared quite a few laughs and memories together. Silver stood there watching Sonic's every move. Silver clenched his cup a little tighter each time HE made her laugh. He took a deep breath to help him calm down. But it was no use, eventually he got to fed up and stormed off to the balcony.
Blaze and Sonic barely noticed he left, or that he was staring at them in the first place. "So how was your time with Silver?~" He began.
Blaze smiled at the thought. "It was quite a lovely time together, Silver told me multiple times about how much he enjoyed spending time with me." She smiled a little bigger.
"Oh? Just lovely huh? Nothing... ROMANTIC?" Sonic smirked stupidly.
Blaze sighed and rolled her eyes. "No Sonic. There is nothing going on between me and Silver. So stop assuming." She huffed.
"Aww c'mon Blaze! I'm only messing with ya! I mean can you blame me?" Sonic shrugged
"What do you mean... 'blame you'? For what exactly?" Blaze questioned suspiciously.
"Well its just that.. you and Silver are always together. You're so open with each other a-and you understand every little detail. It's like you two are always in perfect sync. I'm honestly jealous."
"J-Jealous? What for?" Blaze blushed a little.
Sonic sighed as he leaned back on the wall. "I wish I could be like that... Every time I try to... I just feel like... like I'm pushing her away.."
Sonic said, his face saddening. He looked in the direction of Amy. The pink hedgehog laughing, having a good time with her friends.

.
"Her..?" Blaze whispered to herself, until she realized.
.
"Oh..."
.
Her heart shattered into two. "I-I see then..."
.
She said holding tears back. Sonic was too distracted to notice her leave. She opened the outside door to the same balcony Silver had been staring out into the night sky. His head flung up as he was startled by the noise of the door. But once he saw who it was his eyes lit up, without thinking he spoke.
.
"Blaze?"
.
.
She flinched a little at the sound of his voice, not expecting him to be there but her face softening a little once she saw who it was.
"O-Oh... Silver... I'm sorry I'll leave." She began out the door.
"W-Wait..." He loosely grabbed her hand. "Stay... Please." He begged, not wanting to let her go.
Her heart fluttered a bit. "...Okay."
Both of them leaned on the side of the balcony railing, Blaze felt a little confused but safe in his presence. She looked to him and saw a unreadable stoic expression on his face as he stared into the moonlight. The night sky tracing his features beautifully. She felt her heart beat a little faster but quickly shook of the feeling. She looked away and he spoke.
"You looked... upset earlier... Did something happen?" He questioned carefully.
Blaze sighed and looked at the moon. "I suppose it's my own fault that I fail."
Silver looked towards her, cocking his head to the side confused. "How so..?"
Blaze shook her head and huffed. "Perhaps... It was.. Because I wanted to be seen."
Her words echoed in his mind for a second and then it clicked. He looked to her for a second and looked back at the moon.

"They way you want someone to see you, yet it's like everything you do isn't enough. But even so... In every right... You want them to be happy... They deserve happiness.."
"Their happiness... at the cost of your irrelevance..."
.
.
.
.
She looked to Silver, her face softened at his words. Silver looked to Blaze, this time with a face obviously pained and melancholic.
.
.
.
"I know how much you admire him."
.
.
.
Blaze's heart skipped a beat at his words, she was taken aback by how he knew. She had nothing to say.
"But I also see the way he leaves you behind." He clenched his fist. "The happiness you want will never be found in him. Even if you tell him he'll just keep running, leaving everything behind." His tone a lot more stern now. He took a breath and looked away.
"S-Silver... I-.." Blaze sighed, and Silver turned back to look at her.
"It's your decision. But... He'll never care about you the way I do!"
.
.
Then it clicked.
Blaze's face flushed at his comment, something about this all made sense. He was jealous, insanely jealous. "Jealous of Sonic..?" Blaze thought to herself, this whole situation becoming amusing.
A little smirk played onto her face. "Silver... Y-You're not jealous are you..?!"
Silver's face turned red as he avoided eye contact.
"I-I'm simply looking out for you.. I'd barely call that jealousy.."
Her tail flicked in amusement as she observed him up and down.
"Look at you Silver! You're all tense, you have an angry tone, and you always act a little sour every time I bring up Sonic! You have jealousy written all over your face!" Her smirk turned fully into a smile as she giggled to herself.
"Again! I-I'm just looking out for you! That’s all! A-And who even cares if I am jealous?!"
He looked away. "It won't change anything..." He sighed.
She laughed a little to herself. Blaze put her hand over his, turning his chin so he would be looking into her own amber eyes. Her hand slowly fell to her side, she spoke with a soft smile.
"You're so naïve.. Who said things couldn't change..?" His breath hitched a bit at the contact, His face growing redder but relaxing.
"Maybe.." She moved a little closer to him. "Change is what someone needs..." She moved a lot closer the gap between them becoming smaller and smaller. Silver's heart began to race, but he didn’t move away. In fact he took a deep breath, closed his eyes and moved his face closer, leaning his head to the side. Right as their lips almost made contact:

CREAK
The balcony door flung open. Both of them jumped in surprise from the noise and turned to see what the sound was. Shadow stood there for a second observing what he'd just walked into.
SLAM
Shadow quickly closed the door.
.
.
.
.
.
Both of them stood there a little confused and very flustered. Silver cleared his throat, not making direct eye contact with Blaze.
"It's getting cold out here... No?"
She snapped out of it, still flustered but calmed herself down enough to respond.
"Y-Yes... Shall we go back inside..?"
He nodded briefly. "Let's go."
Silver gestured out his hand to her. Her expression softened as she looked up to him and took his hand.
"Lead the way." She smiled.
"As you wish." He joked with her as they went back inside.
THE END!!!

"He almost... Kissed her..!" Shadow shook, holding his red party cup in his hand.
Rouge laughed at him, patting his back.
"Ah Shadow you're so immature.."
