Work Text:

Isagi never learnt how to drive. It just wasn't in the cards for her.

She'd never trust anyone with her life like that, not even herself; even when she was a baby she used to kick and cry whenever she was put in one of those evil zooming boxes.

So her parents adapted, and started walking her anywhere she needed to go (maybe that's why she's so slim) as soon as her two little feet could carry her.

And thank God for that, because it was late evening when she met the love of her life whilst walking to a 7/11.

Isagi was always hopeless. She never truly grasped the weight of the word ‘love’- she heard it everywhere.

People screamed out I love you! at the man who got the book off the high shelf for them. They loved the stray cats that smelled of dead fish, and the lady down the street who watered their plants when they went to Morocco. They loved so many things, scents, and people.

She was raised in a loving home, where she had more often than not walked in on a cheesy romantic moment with her parents as the leading cast. So she loves a lot of things and people.

Or rather, she really likes a lot of things and people but feels like I love you is a kinder sentence than I think you're swell.

This certain event in her life, however, really turned things around for her. Because she could say for certain that the girl with scraped knees that just fell off her skateboard was the apple of her eye.

She looked slightly dazed, her eyes whirring around like a cartoon character that got hit by a brick. Her hair was partially askew and leaning left over her face, but even so, her cute skrunkled face was on display. She looked higher than five.

And don't get me started on whatever the hell she was wearing.

(I'll start anyway.)

A white tank top and the baggiest bright blue jeans you'd ever seen, adorned with a neon purple jacket, which was tied loosely around her hips, and ORANGE CROCS. As well as the beaten up red helmet which barely cushioned her head from the collision with Isagi.

The sun had just slipped over the horizon when Isagi (unpermittedly) left the house, so by the time he had to wherever the hell she was then (12 blocks away), the black and blue above was dark and ripe.

But still, even in that horrible lighting, the hunk of woman she held out her hand to was beyond breath-taking.

The Disney Chanel looking girl took one look at Isagi and laughed. Deviously giggled, even.

“How are you gonna help me up when you're on the floor, silly?” She breathed out, deliciously propped up on her elbows.

My dear God, Isagi (who must've been an exact colour match with a tomato) thought, that is such an adorable voice. I'm actively dying. No actually, I'm dying.

No, seriously reader, she couldn't breathe. Remember when I said she was hopeless? Yeah; single bisexual D average student who is afraid of moving vehicles. And horrible at speaking to pretty girls.

It's a shock that she goes to a girl-dominated school. You'd think she wouldn't last a day in the same field as girls such as Alexis Ness and Hiori Yō, but she's actually gotten used to seeing such gorgeous women that she's usually numb to it.

But this is entirely different because this girl is actually perfect, and Isagi won't survive long enough to eat her 7/11 ramen if she doesn't get her damn inhaler out of her back pocket.

It was now occurring to Isagi that she had fallen and was sitting pathetically on the floor having an asthma attack in front of a hood goddess.

“I…. I... aah… in…hal.. aah.”

Utterly pathetic dialogue.

But Isagi just kept winning! Her infantile babbling had been understood and translated to English (or rather Japanese).

The 30% bleach blonde came to crouch down beside her, skateboard long ago discarded. A look of worry shrouded her face.

Did every expression she had have to stab Isagi through the heart?

“Inhaler?” Impeccable, really. “Where do you keep it?”

She was holding her shoulders now. A warmth spread right through her fingertips and into Isagi's blood stream like she was cocaine. And boy was she addicted.

“p..cket.. po…” and that's where she stops.

“Your ass pocket, right? Are you sure this isn't a trick to get me to touch you?”

The speed at which Isagi shook her head was record worthy. A new shade of red took over her face as she tried to stammer out an apology sentence and get the damn inhaler herself.
The girl only giggled again, looking even more enchanting than last time.

She slowly took the inhaler out of her pocket, holding devilish eye contact all the while. But her touch was so gentle, that you'd think she was performing a surgery.

“Relax, I'm all for it. You know how to work this thing, yeah?”

The object of Isagi's affection shook the canister before removing the cap with one hand.

“Breathe out.”

After releasing all the air in her lungs at the command of this beautiful stranger, she ket her put her hands on the inhaler and hold it up to her mouth.

She pressed down.

“Breathe in.”

And it all came rushing to her.

The stars in the sky had never been so beautiful. The pavement below might as well have been her bed. The woman beside her was her oxygen, and her heart was finally steady.

After a few times more, the inhaler was rendered useless and Isagi able to speak.

“Thank you.” she smiled nervously. Not much, but apparently enough, because suddenly she was hauled up onto her feet and holding hands with happiness.

“What, did I make you all swoony and nervous?”

“Something like that.”

“Oooh, we got an admittant girl kissee over here!” she proclaimed whilst picking up her skateboard in one swift movement.

Isagi looked around dramatically.

“You mean we got two? Cos that is not a straight girl outfit!” she chuckled.

The girl tilted her head cunningly in response.
“And yours is?” she asked credulously.

For reference, she was wearing an ankle length beige and indigo floral pattern skirt with a green graphic tee and chunky brown boots. Not to mention the white, loose, teacher cardigan and wired headphones.

“Not really..” she toed at the floor and licked her lips in a smile.

“So, Mrs Girlkisser-”

“Isagi Yoichi.”

“So, Mrs Yoichi-”

“Wait why am I Mrs-”

“SO!! What are you doing outside at this time of day, Mrs Yoichi?” The bee-like girl flamboyantly asked (yes you can do that).

“ ‘M hungry. I wanted a ramen cup. What about you? Miss…?”

She smiled before performing a sloppy introductory song and dance. (A bit cringe, but it's Bachira so it's ok.) And we'll all be damned if Isagi didn't eat it up like it was her spicy chicken ramen.

“I am the talented, the amazing, the young and artistic Bachira Meguru! Hold your applause.” She grinned like a two year old.

“Does the talented, amazing, young and artistic Bachira Meguru like ramen?”

“I like all foods. Apart from sardines.” She made a truly disgusted face. “Yuck.”

“Roger that. I'll refrain from ever buying sardines in the future.”

“So considerate!”

And by the time Isagi was called by her worried mother asking where she was, it was 11pm and the hopeless 17 year old had scored a date with a magical being.

Notes:
