Chapter Text
In front of Meredith laid food Addison had ordered for the party. The kitchen table had a spread of endless greasy, messy finger foods normally found in bars. Chicken wings, nachos, dips, jalapeño poppers, mozzarella sticks and even more chicken wings. Also in the fridge was a wide selection of beer and other alcohol beverages. Truly Meredith's wonderland which in turn surprised her when Addison agreed so quickly to hosting the party and even voluntarily getting all the supplies for it. One, Addison wasn't one for messy semi-unorganized parties and two, she has never even seen the woman see a football game. Whenever games of any sport were on, Addison was usually reading or playing with the kids. Most sport, she has seen Addison watching and paying attention to was soccer but that was due to Bailey liking soccer. Then again, Meredith had to admit that was one of the few times a day were she wasn't just staring at her wife's leggy beauty so if Addison did in fact like watching, she might've just missed the silent enjoyment.
Derek had taken the kids for the weekend and Jake was on vacation with Henry so for the first time in a while they were home alone. If that Sunday wasn't Super Bowl Sunday, they probably wouldn't be up for company. Then again, it's a miracle that no one who was coming to the party had work that day. What impressed her even more was the fact that Cristina was actually in Seattle for a conference that same weekend so it was lucky indeed. As Meredith goes to move the food to the living room in front of the TV making sure none of it dripped onto her proud Seattle Seahawks jersey yet, there was a knock on the door. There were too people who would knock without instantly stepping in, Alex since he once...several times has walked in on Addison and Meredith or Bailey since she was at least respectful enough to do so. Amelia would just enter through the back if the door wasn't locked in the front and Cristina wouldn't care and just enter no matter the noises being made.
"Addison! Someone's at the door!" Meredith shouts from the kitchen
"I'm getting ready honey, you answer it!" Addison shouts from upstairs
"I'm doing something!" Meredith replied picking up a wing to eat
"DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT MER!" Addison knew Meredith to well
"I'm not doing anything!" Meredith put the wing down and pouted. As she made her way to the door, Alex just opened it and let himself in before closing it again. "Where's Jo?"
"She and Link have a tradition of watching the game together" Alex shrugs as he brought a box of wing dips and beer in "One of the few things Paul didn't fuck up. Plus she's rooting for New England so there's that."
"Can you imagine rooting for New England?" Meredith scoff "That's the good thing about Derek, he wasn't one of those people. I mean, can you imagine being a Patriots fan?" Meredith felt Addison wrap her arms around her waist but ignored it for a second
"Have you told that to Addison?" Alex raised his eyebrow while attempting to hide his smirk
"No? Why would my wife decide to go for the worst team?" Meredith asked genuinely confused
"Because your wife's from Connecticut" Meredith quickly turned to look at Addison only to find that, apart from being extremely hot, was wearing a current New England Patriots jersey. Her expression of shock and disgust must've been evident because the bright and free laughter coming out from Addison damned her "I see you forgot that"
"I'm going to call Jo real quick" Alex left the kitchen laughing as he threw himself on the couch
"I thought you lived in Fairfield County!" Meredith loudly whispered
"I did? What does that have to do with anything?" Addison replied intrigued
"You're supposed to be a Jets or Giants fan not the Yankees equivalent of a football team" Meredith exclaimed quietly while pointing at the redhead's jersey
"First of all, the only way you are a Jets fan is if you are born into it. Secondly, you do know that Connecticut is divided into supporting the Giants or Patriots?"
"Didn't you live closer to MetLife then Gillete?"
"Yeah? Takes me like an hour and 30 minutes from Greenwich to MetLife Stadium and like 2 hours and 30 from Greenwich to Gillete Stadium" Addison scoffed while smiling "Are you really trying to make me see that the Patriots are a bad team?"
"I'm not trying" Meredith pointed out "I'm telling you there are better teams, Addie"
"Well then, I guess you're going to be sad to know that my family are actually benefactors of the Patriots" Addison kissed her wife on the cheek before going to the kitchen
"Ah, so you don't actually think they're good" Meredith sighed slightly "You don't actually think they're good"
"I think our strategy and games this season have been way better than anything else in the AFC" Addison grabbed a beer and started to drink it much to Meredith's surprise "Sure, the 49ers game was a brutal lose for them and massive win for Seattle but c'mon, Seahawks have only won 1 title. We have 6 under our belts. Plus, we've already beat you or did you forget?"
"I-I" Meredith was speechless, since when did Addison know about football?
"So I think, the one who has a generational bias towards a team isn't me but rather you Mer" Addison chuckled as she got closer to Meredith "Also to answer your earlier question, I am in fact, a Yankees fan"
"Who the hell are you right now?!?!" Meredith blurted out in pure shock
"There's a lot of me you haven't seen yet Grey" Addison kisses Meredith softly in the mouth while softly wrapping her arms around Meredith to pull her closer. A soft whine escaped Meredith's mouth as she melted into the redhead's arms. After a minute, they parted and Addison could see in all its glory how Meredith tried her hardest to resist looking at her wife with adoration. As if the fact that Addison was wearing the jersey change who she was. "Come on, tell me I'm not the best kisser you've ever had"
"You are taking advantage of me" Meredith groaned "Worst part is that I'm letting you"
"Good girl" Addison purred "Still hate that I'm not a Seattle's fan?"
"Oh, we are talking about this" Meredith puts her hand on Addison's chest "After my team beats your ass"
"You seem so confident" Addison smirked
"I am" Meredith remembered what Alex and Jo did "Want to bet?"
"Depends, what for?" Addison's intrigue was genuine
"I win, you get drunk with me and we act like how we were back when we met...I also get to make you do something embarrassing tomorrow on shift" Meredith's face redden a bit when talking
"You want Satan? Okay" Addison thought for a second "If I win, I get to make you do something embarrassing to you in front of your team and you have to eat whatever I want for a week."
"That's it?" Meredith asked confused "I get sexy wife if I win and you get me eating if you win?"
"In essence, yes" Addison put her hand out "Deal?"
"Of course" Meredith chuckled while grabbing Addison's hand
"I would wish you luck but at the end, I win from both deals" Addison leaned close to Meredith's ear "You'll lose in mine"
"Wait what?" Meredith smile disappeared as Addison made her way to the living room where Alex started to talk to Addison "What the hell did I just do?"
"MER! BRING THE FOOD TO THE LIVING ROOM! AMELIA'S OUTSIDE!" Alex shouted from the couch where he and Addison were now talking in
"Coming!" Meredith shouted just as Amelia entered the house in Seattle Seahawks jersey and makeup
"THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!" Amelia shouted back while laughing
"Aren't you a parent?" Cristina asked while closing the door
"Yeah, that's called experience" Amelia winked
"Amelia! Cristina doesn't want to know about you're sexual escapades" Addison corrected
"Chill Addie, she and me had the same husband. It's not like she doesn't know what's up." Amelia shrugged
As Amelia and Addison went back and forward all the while Alex and Cristina drank their beer, Meredith couldn't help but wonder what the hell Addison had in mind for the deal. All she knew was that she now really hopes the Seahawks win.
