The War has settled finally. After months of fights and losses, Dark Enchantress was defeated and killed, however it almost killed White Lily who’s currently going through some medical care at the moment to ensure she can recover well. Of course having Silent Salt standing by her most times in support.
Thankfully the vanilla kingdom had some of the best medics around, especially since their leader specialises in healing magic and now Mystic Flour stays there to further help with after the war. The war had forced an alliance between the beasts and ancients, hell even with the Guardians of Nature because it was for the better of Earth Bread. And hell, and they’ve taken in those three young ones that we were being used as living weapons. That was because they were technically White Lily’s children as much as they were Dark Enchantress’. So naturally she’d vogued for them, ‘children of war who didn’t know any better or why what they were doing was wrong’ was what she said about those three.
Venom Dough wasn’t quite fond of this arrangement. It was the new environment full of bright colours, constant noise as the city was being repaired bit by bit. Though they didn’t see anything because Mold Dough and Pom-Pom seemed fine with this arrangement. Anything was truly better than those dark hallways and damp laboratories that smelt too much like rot and blood and too strong chemicals.
But they were still on edge.

Silent Salt places a plate full of fresh food on the bedside table; steamed vegetables, cut of steak, and some gravy. Nothing fancy. But definitely good enough for a meal.
”It’s not much,” he says, eyeing over Venom Dough who’s sat on their bed. They have been for a few hours, just quiet in here trying to adjust as best they could in this strange situation. When dinner was ready and he had yelled upstairs, they didn’t come down unlike the other two so he’d brought some food upstairs just to make sure Venom Dough didn’t go hungry at least. The least he could do when White Lily is unable to care for them at the moment even if he isn’t exactly liked by the oldest of those poor souls. “You don’t have to eat it all, but something is better than nothing.”
Silence stretched between them as Venom just simply looked at the plate. Hunger panged at them like their chronic pain did, but they didn’t really want food at the moment. “Not hungry.”
”Okay.” Silent Salt nodded. It wasn’t like he was going to push for them to eat, it wouldn’t help them in the slightest so he’d let them eat at their own pace.
Venom tapped fingers against their own thigh. The clothes are soft and less harsh on their skin, better quality than the bullshit scraps that their Mother once gave them.
Truthfully everything was better here. But there was this unsettling feeling still in their stomach. This change was sudden and a lot so maybe adjusting wasn’t so easy.
”How’s mum?” Venom asked. Scarred hand grabbed the plate and fork, picking at the food on the plate until they decided to eat a few bites. Not particularly hunger like they’d said before hand.
”She’s,” Silent Salt started. A little taken back by the question but then again the question was going to come up at some point. He just expected Pom-Pom to ask him that question, she’s definitely curious. “She’s doing fine. Recovery is going fine.” He sounds a little unsure, mostly out of surprise. “Pure Vanilla and Mystic Flour are helping take care of her, she’ll be home in a few days.”
Venom nods.
The door slammed open, scaring both of them just because the pure force put behind it was so unexpected. Pom-Pom stood in the doorway, wearing a shirt far too big for her small body, and Mold stood behind her looking baffled by what’s happening.
“Matcha’s trying to kill her boyfriend.” Pom-Pom deadpans. A perfectly timed scream of frustration came from downstairs followed by Butter Roll trying to calm down Matcha whose probably trying to stab an eye out with a kitchen knife.
God, what family has Silent Salt been pulled into? Witches help him.
”Right.” Silent Salt sighed, straightening up. Feeling a headache come on when Red Velvet joins the fighting downstairs because of course he takes any opportunity to try and kill his sister’s boyfriend. “I hope Lily knows her children as fucking psychopaths.”
