Work Text:
Law enjoyed a quiet morning. Silence through the home, crew still fast asleep, coffee hot. The perfect morning. He was an early riser, not by choice, just habit. He set his mug down on the counter and took a glance at the baby monitor on the counter. His son was staring up at the camera, chewing on his hand.
Law smiled as he walked down the hall to his and his girlfriend's room. Y/n was fast asleep still, starfished on their bed. He silently made his way to his son's crib, where the baby had rolled over onto his stomach and was face down on the mattress.
“Morning, buddy,” Law gently said as he rubbed his son's back.
It was hard, raising a baby on a submarine as a pirate. But they made it work, with help from the crew. All his uncles and aunt practically fought to the death to help out.
Law watched his son pop up, then smile at him. He knew he didn’t get that from him. Law picked up the baby, hit him out of the sleep sack, and changed his diaper after his morning stretch.
“Come on, Cora. Let’s let mommy sleep,” Law said as he took his son out of the room and made him his morning bottle. Acting like he knew what his son was saying as he pointed at things in the ship’s kitchen.
“Yes, that’s the fridge,” Law said, “and that’s the stove.”
Law gave his son his bottle and took him to the control room. Sitting dab and watching the fish go by as he drank his coffee and his son had his breakfast. Though his son was more amused by the buttons than the fish.
“Cap— oh, wittle Cora!” Penguin said from behind with Sachi
“Someone’s up early,” Sachi cooed
Cora just smiled before thrusting his half full bottle at the feet of the two
“Something wrong?” Law asked
“No. Just letting you know we should be arriving on land soon.” Sachi said as Penguin grabbed the bottle from the floor
“Let’s surface then,” Law said
“Aye aye, captain!” the two said, then ran off
“Let's go get mommy up,” Law said
The baby just drank his bottle as he looked up at his dad. Content in the captain's arms as they walked through the ship. Law quietly opened the door, finding his girlfriend still asleep, now hugging his pillow.
“Mamamamama,” Cora said as he pointed to his mom on the bed
“Mama sleeping,” Law said as he walked over to the bed and sat down next to her, and their son crawled out of his arms
Cora crawled over to hug his mom, which made her stir as Law set his son's bottle on the bedside table. “Mamamama,” Cora babbled
“Morning, baby,” Y/n said as he opened her eyes to her son, trying to stand, using her body as an anchor
“Morning,” Law said as he leaned down and kissed her forehead
“Morning,” Y/n said as Cora pushed him away from her, shaking his head no at his dad.
Law glared at his son while Y/n giggled and wrapped her arms around her son, kissing his cheeks. Even as Law glared at his son, there was no harm in it. It was these mornings that Law loved. His girlfriend and son cuddled up in the bed as their sub rocked on the waves of the ocean. The doctor lay back down next to them as Cora was grabbing at Y/n’s lips and the t-shirt she had slept in.
“We’re going to be docking soon.”
“Okay,” Y/n sighed. “He finished his bottle?”
“Little bit left,” Law said as he handed the bottle back to his son.
Cora happily took it, tilted his head back, and finished off the milk. The two laughed before the baby set the bottle down and clapped. Proud of himself as his dad ruffled his hair. “He’s getting so big,” Y/n sighed
“Still meeting all his goals though,” Law said
“Okay, doctor,” Y/n said, then wrapped her arms around her son, “I just want him to be tiny again.”
Cora cuddled into his mom as Law held both of them. “Don’t tell me you want another one.”
“Maybe if we weren’t on a submarine on the run from the government. I’m perfectly content with just the three of us.”
“Me too.” Law smiled
