It was lunch, the happiest period of the day, everyone was lining up to taunt to give her chocolates. After the line went away, she stood up and everyone stared after they realized again that Taunt actually had brought chocolate, waiting for her to make her move and give the chocolate to the lucky person that they definitely weren’t going to jump. After all, today is Valentine's day and everyone wanted Taunt's chocolate for she is cool and charming, plus it would be the greatest flex for the whole year.
“Hey” Taunt said, looking away a little while holding up a homemade chocolate bar.
“Hnm?” Caretaker said without looking up, still reading her medical textbook.
“Umm I uhh want to give…this to you…”
Caretaker looked up and saw her crush holding a chocolate bar that said “For Caretaker” and she looked very flustered.
Caretaker looked up and immediately got flustered and started stuttering while everyone in the cafeteria started filming the Tiktoks that they were going to post. She took the chocolate and ran out, very flustered.
Back at home, she decided to open up the chocolate, which also included a hand-written note and Taunt’s phone number and a little poem on her. At first, she thought it was a prank, but then after looking over it, it looked genuine. The look Taunt gave her was something she could never forget. She decided to go on Tiktok to see what had happened, only to realize a video of Taunt giving her chocolate had gone viral with millions of views and 2 million likes. Even worse, her brother saw this and showed this to her parents.
“Caretaker…”
“Yes…”
“Why didn’t you tell me that you had a girlfriend…We would’ve supported you"
“...”
This was not the reaction she or her brother had expected. They both looked at each other dumbfounded. Awkward…
Hey, it probably was the same for Taunt right? It was said that Taunt was in a regular home, so it would be the same, hopefully for her.
It was another day in her conflicting family environment. Taunt was in her room, listening to her ‘perfect’ family fight again and again, after the 5th fight she’d already forgotten how many times they fought this month. It probably started 3 months ago, she thought to herself how she had to care for herself since her family was always fighting and they wouldn’t bother to cook. She always had her eyes on Caretaker, since she always helped her, even though she made it look like it wasn’t her, she knew it was her who helped her and she always liked her. It wasn’t that she wanted to die, but she still was very depressed. She was under great stress and always tried to act fine, nobody ever noticed anything wrong about her, just as she was losing hope, an angel came down and asked if she was okay. It was Caretaker, she wanted to know if she was doing okay as she didn’t seem present. Suddenly at that moment Taunt had fallen in love and decided today was the perfect day to confess her love with chocolate she made. She then went to bed hungry as no one actually bothered to cook as they had fought and their ego forced them to not cook. She thought about how many times she went to bed hungry, at this point she was already numb to the feeling. She woke up feeling tired and she didn’t want to get out of bed. It felt pointless, until she got a text from Caretaker.
“Good morning!”, seeing this, Taunt got cheered up and replied with a voice message of good morning. She had to go to school, she wasn’t fine for sure, but she couldn’t let anyone know about her family situation or else she would be separated from her family that she loved dearly and if she told anyone about this, she’d have to move away and lose her love, Caretaker. It was something she could not hope to do, she wanted to see her in person and hear her melodic voice, maybe she should go to school today and act like she is completely fine and not dying inside. Maybe Caretaker could go on a date with her on the weekend since it is always the worst feeling staying at home with the fights that constantly go on.
Taunt thought that Caretaker has a much better life than her.
