“Maybe in another life..?”
“I wish it was this one.”

“No, no, no! It’s titi.” Sam drawled, causing Bucky to chuckle. He was teaching the supersoldier the proper pronunciation of what he used to call his now deceased aunt.
“Yes, yes. Titi.” Bucky smiled goofily, leaning onto Sam’s shoulder. They were currently taking a bus to Louisiana, back to Sam’s boathouse for the weekend. To see Sarah and the boys.

As soon as they made it to the childhood home of the Captain America, Bucky grabbed his bag from the compartment under the bus. Sam carried his bag all the way from the bus, refusing to put it down.
“Uncle Buck!” One of the boys shouted, and Bucky recognized the voice to be Cass.
“Hey there!” Bucky opened his arms, catching the running boy. He picked him up and spun him, just to be met with AJ jumping into his arms as well.
Sam stepped back, watching the scene and laughing warmly.
“Long time, huh?” Sarah came down the dock, arms crossed as she stared down her brother.
“Hey, sis.”
“Hey, Captain.”

“Dinner was good.” Bucky hummed, unpacking his things.
Sam nodded. “Nothing better than homemade burgers.”
The older man thought for a moment before earnestly smiling and holding up a bottle.
Sam squinted his eyes and recognized the bottle to be some sort of skin product. A cleanser– no, it was some sort of liquid.
“Would you like to watch me do my nighttime skincare routine?”
Bucky was a 40’s man. He loved music from his time, and he enjoyed the simplicity of daily life back then. Before the war.
But living in the modern era wasn’t all bad.
Bucky discovered he had acne-prone skin and suffered from breakouts, whether it was from the weather or what he ate. Back then, there wasn't enough processed food to give him a breakout. But now, there were also cleanser, toners, moisturizers, sunscreens, and spa treatments to preserve his anti-aging supersoldier skin.
Sam’s eyes found Bucky’s and he grinned. “Sure.”

After Bucky brushed his teeth (gagging a little as he scraped his tongue), he called Sam into the bathroom. Shirtless and chest-naked, he explained he always took his shirt off so he didn’t accidentally get it wet if he splashed water on it. Then he put his hair back using a headband.
“Firstly, I use a cleanser from Face Reality. My whole set is from Face Reality.” He explained matter-of-factly, holding out a bottle of some sort of cleanser– possibly scrub– for Sam to look at.
The younger man merely nodded, paying attention even though he didn't indulge in any skincare. His skin always looked flawless.
After Bucky cleansed his face, he held up the bottle he showed Sam earlier. “This is my toner. I take a cotton pad and wipe it all over my face.”
And that’s exactly what he did. Sam watched as Bucky practically fought with the cotton pad, wondering why he did his skincare so aggressively.
Next, was the moisturizer. Bucky held it up. “Moisturizer.” He made eye contact with himself in the mirror, Sam watching him.
“And done.” Bucky exhaled a breath. “Usually it takes longer with more products, but I managed to file it down to the basics.”
Sam grinned. “That took forever. Are you finally ready to get into bed and cuddle?” Sam slipped in first, back against the wall.
Bucky nodded. “Obviously.” He crawled into the sheets, forehead meeting his lover’s.
“Want to go on a walk tomorrow morning? We have to wake up at 5 though.”
Sam nodded. “Okay.”
But when the alarm rang the next morning, they slept in. Holding each other close, like they did in every universe. But they didn’t.
Because in this universe, my dear readers, outside of this story, I lost my Sam.
