“James.”
“Mm?”
The couple was currently laid in bed, Julia had a bad day at work and just requested for cuddles and nothing more. It was her way of easing everything to avoid the conflict and an attempt to forget the nonsense of dealing with idiotic people.
“Would you love me if I was a cherry?”
James snorted out a soft laugh, his breath hot against Julia’s neck. “A cherry?”
“Yes. If I turned into a fruit, would you still love me?”
“Julia, you’re very silly. But yes, I’d absolutely love you if you randomly turned into a cherry.”
“Alright.” She smirked, gently shimmying out of James grip. “I gotta use the bathroom.”
James moved his arms, allowing for her to get up as he laid on his back, stretching his body as he sighed. It took a few minutes for Julia to even return, and James soon heard giggling from the doorway as he looked up, seeing Julia with a cherry costume hat.
“I turned into a cherry, James.” She lowered her head, the leaf part dangling as Julia laughed. “Do you like my leaf?”
All James could do was shake his head, not surprised by Julia’s typical antics. Plus, seeing her smile was honestly quite nice. “When did you get that?”
“Cassie and I went to go get costumes.” She shrugged, “Do you like my leaf?” She asked once again, watching it slowly move down as she smiled like a dork.
“I do love your leaf, it’s very dangly though, I thought it would be more upright.”
“It matches my mood.”
“Does it really?” James sat up, feeling Julia settle on his lap as he cupped her face and kissed her cheek. “My cherry is quite sweet.” Hearing her giggle made him smile as he started to nibble on her cheek. “Your stem isn’t going up, my dear.”
Julia grabbed it, slowly lifting it up as she looked at James. Soon erupting into giggles as she leaned forward against him and settled her head against his shoulder. “You’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
