“Don’t you think that this means we’re practically soulmates?” Ichigo chirped.
Aoyama canted his head, confused. “We are?”
“I mean… every Mew Mew had a piece of Mew Aqua that called out to them. That was meant just for them.” Ichigo snuggled against his body, pressing against his heartbeat. “And my Mew Aqua is all the blood that runs in your veins, isn’t it? It’s like you were made just for me! Destiny wanted us to be together!”
Aoyama ran his hands through her hair and pulled her closer. She could feel the vibrations in his chest as he hummed pensively, and she purred happily in response. “That doesn’t really track. Doesn’t that mean that destiny had set it out for you to either destroy me or die trying? Fate had it set out for me to die by your hand,” he said with a blunt nonchalance. “And bleed me dry and use the Mew Aqua inside me to save the world.”
Ichigo frowned. “Wait, really? So it’s more like we were star-crossed from the start?” She curled up even closer to Aoyama, wrapping her arms around him in a hug, finding comfort in the coolness of his body. She felt a buzz running through her as the Mew Aqua inside him resonated with the Mew Mew power inside of her. “Even if destiny wanted me to do that, I’d never, ever let you die. I’d protect you from destiny itself, if I have to!”
Aoyama’s arms wrapped around her as well. “I know you will. As if the forces of the universe could ever come anywhere close to the might of my girlfriend.”
