"New Virus found in China"
I remember the first time I heard it on the news.
I was 7, so I didn't think much of it, but then my mom told me there was 1 last day before a worldwide pandemic was put into place. I didn't know what that meant at the time, but I said I wanted to go to my grandma's house, and I just played candy crush and other computer games on her computer, in a room known as 'the den.' it had these faded yellow walls and was cluttered with totes and boxes everywhere. It had about 7 windows, most of them near the roof. I was so unaware that day what was to come.
The next day, I woke up and looked out the bathroom window. The sky felt darker that morning, like the sun shined less bright. Hours blurred into weeks which blurred into months, I found myself staring into space and talking to myself for the first times, and I watched on my moms computer in real time how many lives were being taken by COVID-19, and I was in horror. I had also switched schools. 2021 was basically 2020 except a different year, the only difference for me was that I had moved from my first house into my aunt and uncles house with my mom. After my 9th birthday, however, we moved to my Grandmas house, and I watched as the house I spent the last day before the pandemic was actually becoming my home. It felt weird at first, but I adjusted.
