Chapter 1: "Birth"

Chapter Text

The world was in many ways, endless.

Whether it be growing or withering, something would always persist. There would always come a constant flow. A permanent surrounding of stars to accompany the endless void. The creator, no matter how big or small reality seemed, would stay as the presence and maker of light– Forever in the middle to guide us anew.

To bring life, death, and for many, even rebirth.

To forever watch over and provide: to sow reward, to reap consequence…

“The Megabird

Our creator, our provider, our God in every way.

Though the past had failed to protect and truly worship the light they held, though rebirth was broken and unobtainable, still. It gave hope, second chances– The warmth and rekindlement the world needed post despair.

A small star, far away, yet nestled into the sea of reality found itself changing.

Being woken from deep slumber, and welcomed immediately to its mother's embrace.

For what some view as their god, the stars see a parent. A mother.

As the Megabirds’ warmth comforted and soothed the star's form, it also guided and gave to it more life.

Cradled in protection the star began to truly become alive. As its form warped from being just a mass of light, to a shape– No longer just a star, but a true body.

One to move freely, with their mothers gift of wings and form they could begin their journey.

They could feel themself starting to move, drift soft and slowly away from the Megabird, before increasing in pace as a path forwards is formed. It felt odd, but simultaneously it was right. A little one, finally now grown to move on their own and travel, though still before taking off gently guided by parental knowledge and safety…

There needed to be no more path as the little star felt itself falling into a new world, letting all movement forward be its own as soft clouds gently carried and formed what could be perceived to its own path. Its own created idea of where to go, though still with its goals and duty in mind.

To fly to wherever light is needed, to rebuild, rewarm, an empty world which so desperately needs a new start.

They had their goal in sight, the place which truly needed saving, and yet they fall short.

A little star, just barely having dawned into their world with wings which could only carry on so far… Shatter?

It falls, falls into fear and doubt when the thunder rumbles around. Panic wells up and all movements suddenly stumble from their smooth consistency as flashing lines of thunder crash around. It was light in its own way, weather that the star knew– But now feared.

It was safe, it was fine to continue and fly through… But not even a little star can avoid doubt and worry.

Something that acts similarly to rot. It overcomes everything in its wake, as does anxiety and doubt. There was a way around, there was a way to stop it, but the child simply didn’t know.

With doubt, its wings faltered, its cape shattered.

With fear; it fell.

Once a bright star, now falling into darkness.

But not left alone.

Before any harsh impacts could come, its mother reassured it.

This was not the end, this was not a failure either. This was the beginning.

The true beginning of the star's lone journey with this new body, the beginning of its own tale. It was okay, for this was the real start. With no early wing or guidance from the Megabird. This was when it was time to learn independence.

Learn… What it truly is, besides just one goal and path to bring light.

Notes:

This fic is being written on it's own pace and will have no consistency in posting.
This is a story however, that is being told in the order of events from a moth in sky. Not one-shots put together- like I am actually trying to make a cohesive story that is mostly written as canon.
Key-word: Mostly.
I enjoy dabbling in own thoughts too much to not get a little off canon.

[ This is Dawn's story, Dusk's is somewhere else :) ]
