Chapter Text

“Jaekwan-ah.”

Meow.

A puffy, fluffy paw touches his cheek, exclaimed by an even softer meow.

“Wake up~”

The same paws that are being held up by Choi’s hands as he plays with the kitten’s front limbs.

Sol-nya, between the teasing Agent Choi and dozing off Ryu Jaekwan, could only meow pitifully, his cries remain unheard as he’s puppeted around with his torso outstretched comically like a pasta noodle.

His poor, overworked hind legs are growing numb the longer he remains compliant with Choi’s shenanigans.

But what can he, a simple black cat, do in the face of these towering, overpowered agents?

Simple.

Meow louder, more pitifully, more adorably, more spitefully.

Sol-nya has these simple-minded baboons wrapped around the tip of his claws.

Just one look and they’ll remember their place. Like loyal, dutiful servants, they’ll heed to his every call.

Hungry? An entire salmon, decorated in its pearly eggs, served on a golden platter, piece by piece prepared to fit his meouth, piece by piece fed to him by hand.

Tired? Full body massage from the tip of his ears to to the tip of his claws. They shall let him rest on their lap until their legs grow numb, and the sky becomes as dark as his fur.

Except, they don’t…!

‘These monkeys…!’ Sol-nya thinks to himself, Servant#1 (Agent Choi) (the annoying one) continues to ignore his distressed calls.

Servant#2 (Ryu Jaekwan) (the well-mannered one) remains fast asleep, ignorant of his lord’s current predicament.

These two have lost their minds, it seems. For now, they have forgotten their purpose, to serve him!

‘Preposterous…’

Utterly preposterous.

He remains with a single option left. One that he’s reluctant to choose, as it’ll lead to him eating peasants’ food portions, something Sol-nya deems himself far above.

However, punishment is due.

“Meow!” (tl: Servant#0, bring me far off from these losers’ abode!)

Agent Choi suddenly feels cold sweat dribbling down his neck, passing the long scar and seemingly seeps into his very body.

A violent, dreary aura encompasses the Hyunmu Team 1 office.

‘Freedom, at last!’ Sol-nya celebrates, all four feet touching the glass surface of the table, and ignoring the way both (the other one finally woke up!) of his servants readies themselves for what was coming.

Ryu Jaekwan woke up silently but instantaneously the moment the room temperature suddenly dropped far below 0.

His senior, Agent Choi, in a panic had rushed to arm himself with his Jakdu, placing himself in between the couch and the table in an instinctive attempt to shield his junior.

However, Jaekwan himself felt that Choi had no need to do so.

This feeling of dread and somberness, resonating within him as if the Mask of Tragedy had been worn, was familiar.

The same feeling that had led him to meeting Hyunmu Team 1’s newest member, Sol-nya, in Looky Mart.

Ryu Jaekwan speaks silently, but loud enough for his very-much-so high-strung senior to hear.

“It’s fine.”

Agent Choi turns to face him, not entirely, but enough to expose his rapidly stirring pupils, focusing and unfocusing faster than the audible thumps of their heartbeat in the silent space.

“What is…?”

“...Hey…”

Stare.

Agent Choi stares at the source of the sudden call, an intruder, one that he couldn’t sense, even as he feels all of the nerves in his body working overtime.

“Ah…Don’t mind… me.”

A man with pale, unkempt hair, a face of utter apathy.

He’s wearing a uniform all-so-familiar to Choi, or more specifically, Lee Kangheon, that of Baekilmong's security team.

Oddly, the man spoke carefully as if not wanting to cause trouble. His predator-like gaze is directed, not at the armed individuals, but at…

Their rookie!

And Sol-nya, completely unbothered, stares at the man with the same affectionate gaze that (previously) were directed only at Choi and Jaekwan!

His bleak eyes highlighted by blood-red pupils widens comically, adorably, even.

“Hello, Soleum…” The man greets, and Choi already wants to punt his stoic face twenty football fields.

‘His name is Sol-nya! Where the hell did something as fitting horrendous as ‘Soleum” come from?!’

However, the black kitten responds with excitement, clearly unaware of the sentiments that Choi, and probably Jaekwan, probably shared.

He raises a black paw, accompanying it with a heart-melting meow, like a lost puppy that finally found its way back to its owner after a long and fortuitous adventure.

(Agent Choi could never comprehend that it was the opposite way around.)

And the man gives the slightest hint of a smile, one that Choi would gladly wipe clean off his face if not for the fact that their, no, his and Jaekwan’s Sol-nya is also giving a similar smile, albeit crooked on his obviously feline face.

“...Soleum…” He spoke quietly, both arms outstretched invitingly, wanting to bring the black kitten into his arms. “...Donuts?”

“Meow!” (tl: This ■■■ has lost it.)
