Work Text:

As Itachi’s eyelids slowly opened, he saw nothing around him but white. Endless, quiet white. It felt like a room without walls—no ceiling, no floor—just himself, floating in stillness.

Then, a figure appeared.

A woman.

You were beautiful in a way that felt achingly familiar.

You stepped closer and crouched beside him, your presence warm despite the emptiness around them.

“You’ve awakened,” you said softly. “I’ve been waiting.”

Confusion washed over him. Where was he? Why did this place feel so unreal—and yet so calm?

“My name is Y/N,” you said, placing your hand over her heart.

His eyes widened instantly.

“Y/N…!” His voice cracked as he sat up and pulled her into a tight embrace. “My goodness…” He held you as if you might disappear. Then, realizing himself, he loosened his grip. “Sorry… it’s just— I’ve missed you so much.”

You smiled gently. “I know. I’ve been waiting patiently for the chance to speak with you.”

Itachi wasn’t surprised. Deep down, he had always known she was the love of his life—still was, even now.

“I’m happy you still thought of me after I died,” you said softly. “You sought justice. You protected everything we loved. You were strong.”

Itachi smiled faintly. “Of course. Why wouldn’t I be? You… our family… I love you all. I couldn’t do any of it without you.”

You stepped aside, and that was when he noticed it—a door standing alone in the white space.

“Why is there a door?” Itachi asked.

You opened it slowly. “Go on.”

When he stepped through, the world shifted.

A living room.

Their living room.

On the couch sat the children, watching television together. Itachi moved forward instinctively, reaching out to rest his hand on one child’s head—but his hand passed straight through.

“I’m really gone…” he whispered, tears filling his eyes.

You came up behind him, wrapping an arm around his. You pressed a kiss to the side of his head.

“Who’s taking care of them?” he asked quietly.

“The neighbors,” you replied. “The ones who always babysat when we went out together.”

“Ah… yeah.” He swallowed, watching them carefully. “I hope they’re okay.”

“Me too,” you said. “It was hard watching you live without me. Now it’s hard knowing we’re both gone.”

Silence stretched between you two before Itachi spoke again.

“Is that all you wanted to show me?”

You shook your head. “Of course not.”

You took his hand and led him toward the front door.

“Where are we—” he began, but stopped short.

Willow trees surrounded them, their branches swaying gently. Sunlight filtered through the leaves like something out of a dream.

“It’s beautiful…” Itachi murmured.

“There’s more,” You said, smiling. “Come.”

You guided him through the woods until they reached a clearing. A blanket was spread out, a basket beside it filled with fruit. Two tall glasses of water stood near a cake decorated with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries.

“What is all this?” he asked softly.

You giggled. “A picnic. Like our first date.”

Emotion surged in his chest. “Y/N… this is amazing. Thank you.” Tears welled up again as he pulled you close and kissed you deeply. When they parted, he rested his forehead against yours, both of you soaking in the peace you guys have been denied for so long.

“How long have you been planning this?” he asked.

“Since I arrived here,” she replied.

You laced your fingers with his. He noticed the ring still on your hand—just like his.

You clapped happily. “After everything you sacrificed for your family, you deserve the biggest celebration of all.”

Itachi looked at you, smiling wider than he had in years.

Together, you guys finally sat—at peace
