Harvey Loses A Bet

Summary:

Around midnight on a Friday, after going out with Mike, Harvey returns to his and Donna’s Seattle home with a surprise…

Notes:

This is my first fic... eek

It's a silly idea that just came to me; some may say he'd never do it, but I think this is pretty true to character... at least, I tried.

Hope you enjoy :)

Work Text:

“Honey, I’m ho-ome!” Harvey shouts with mirth after swinging open their front door. Donna rounds the corner to greet him as he fumbles his way inside.

“Woah there!” she says, seeing him stumble, and rushing to help him stay upright. She grabs onto his shoulders; he holds onto her waist.

“Hi,” Harvey says with a goofy, drunken grin. He leans in and kisses her, faltering slightly. She steadies him, and tastes how heavily saturated his tongue is with whiskey.

“Hi, drunk-y,” she giggles in response. “You are so drunk right now. What did Mike do to you?!”

“He beeat me,” Harvey slurs, “He won the bet.”

Donna smirks, “Uh-oh, what’d he win?” she ribs, “The drunkest Harvey ever?”

“I’ll show you,” Harvey chuckles.

“What?!” Donna replies with confusion. Her eyes suddenly widen as Harvey pulls away and unbuttons his pants. “Oh God,” she whispers in suspense. Harvey pushes the side of his pants down, and reveals—on his upper thigh, covered with plastic—a small ‘D’ tattoo.

“Oh my God!” Donna shrieks with laughter, her hands flying to her mouth in disbelief. “You got a tattoo?!” she exclaims.

“Yup,” Harvey says, popping the ‘p’.

“What the-” she shakes her head incredulously, “how did Mike get you to do this?!” she asks.

“C’mon Donna,” Harvey replies as though she’s being obtuse, “You know me, I’m a betting man. I don’t lose,” he explains with ironic confidence.

“Well, you did tonight, apparently,” Donna snickers. Harvey rolls his eyes childishly.

“Yeah, but I don’t normally,” he responds, prompting another laugh from Donna. “I’ll be honest,” he begins out of nowhere, comically sincere, “I was scared at first. I wanted to back out-”

“More like black out,” Donna interrupts. Harvey cackles loudly at her joke, making her burst with laughter again.

“Good one, honey,” he says.

“Jesus, you are so drunk,” Donna giggles at his earnestness.

“But then,” Harvey suddenly continues, “Mike said, ‘Just pick something you’ll never gonna change your mind about,’” despite Harvey’s mangled words, Donna blushes at the implication, “and I thought- I know! My wife! The love-a-my life!” Harvey exclaims, extending an arm out with enthusiasm.

“Aw, honey,” Donna kisses him, bringing his arm back down to her side. “You’d be making me cry right now if you weren’t so hilariously wasted,” she chuckles. He kisses her back.

“I’m never, ever, ever, ever, ever, gonna change my mind about-chu,” he declares.

Donna smiles adoringly, “Me neither, my love,” she whispers. Her smile turns amused, “But wow,” she chuckles, “I can’t believe you actually got a tattoo. You never cease to surprise me, Harvey Specter.”

“Gotta entertain my baby,” he shrugs with a smirk.

“You’re an idiot,” she laughs lovingly. “Now, let’s get you some water, and get you to bed,” she instructs, guiding him to their bedroom.

After helping him change out of his clothes and tucking him into bed, Donna cuddles up next to Harvey, finally preparing for sleep.

A moment later, she feels him suddenly tense. “Wait,” he says. Donna lifts her head with concern. Harvey asks, seriously, “You know why it’s a ‘D’, right?” Donna giggles for the umpteenth time that night.

“Hm, is it because my name is Donna?” she answers teasingly.

“Exactly!” Harvey exclaims. “You know everything, baby,” he swoons with sincerity. Donna giggles again. Sober Harvey rarely calls her ‘baby,’ and usually only during sex. But, while she prefers that, she also enjoys drunk-Harvey’s overuse of the term, and how it makes her feel like they’re embarrassingly passionate teenagers.

“I love you so much, Harvey,” Donna whispers.

“I love you so much,” Harvey responds cheerfully, kissing the top of her head. Donna chuckles one last time and snuggles into him. She soon hears him snoring lightly, and smiles to herself, reveling in how loved Harvey makes her feel, even—and especially—when he’s his least-inhibited self.
