rain pattered gently against the windows of Luo Weizhao
The's apartment, turning the city lights outside into soft, blurry stars. Inside, it was warm — the kind of cozy that only comes after a long week of chaos at the bureau
.Luo Weizhao sprawled on the couch in an old T-shirt and sweatpants, feet propped on the coffee table, a half-eaten bowl of instant ramen balanced on his stomach.
He'd insisted on "cooking" tonight, which meant boiling noodles and dumping in whatever packets were left in the cupboard. Gourmet, it was not.
Pei Su sat beside him, legs tucked elegantly under himself, wearing one of Luo's oversized hoodies that swallowed his frame. The sleeves were rolled up, but they still flopped over his hands as he scrolled through his phone, occasionally glancing over with that small, amused smile he saved just for these moments."
You're staring," Luo said without looking up, slurping a noodle."
You're eating like a raccoon who just discovered fire," Pei Su replied smoothly.
"It's fascinating."Luo snorted, setting the bowl aside.
"Says the guy who once tried to eat caviar with chopsticks because he 'wanted the aesthetic
.'""That was one time." Pei Su leaned over, resting his head on Luo's shoulder.
"And you still finished the jar for me.
""Because you made those puppy eyes." Luo shifted, wrapping an arm around Pei Su's waist to pull him closer. "Cheater."Pei Su hummed contentedly, nuzzling into the crook of Luo's neck.
"Effective, though."
They stayed like that for a while — rain outside, quiet inside. No phones buzzing with urgent texts, no late-night interrogations. Just the two of them, tangled together under the throw blanket Pei Su had dragged from the bedroom because "your couch is too utilitarian, Captain.
"Eventually, Pei Su reached for the remote. "Movie?""Only if it's not one of your artsy French ones where everyone smokes and cries about existentialism."
Pei Su laughed softly — that rare, genuine sound that always made Luo's chest feel warm. "Fine. Your turn to pick. But no more action flicks where the hero looks suspiciously like you."
Luo grinned. "Deal."
He scrolled through options, landing on some cheesy rom-com Pei Su would pretend to hate but secretly enjoy. As the opening credits rolled, Pei Su's fingers found Luo's, lacing them together under the blanket.Halfway through the movie — during a particularly sappy confession scene — Pei Su murmured, "You know, if this were us, you'd probably just grunt 'I like you' and call it a day."
Luo turned his head, pressing a kiss to Pei Su's temple. "I'd do better than that."
"Oh?" Pei Su tilted his face up, eyes sparkling in the TV glow. "Prove it."
Luo didn't hesitate. He cupped Pei Su's cheek gently, thumb brushing over his cheekbone, and kissed him slow and sweet — the kind of kiss that said everything without words. When they parted, Pei Su's cheeks were faintly pink, even in the dim light
."See?" Luo said quietly. "No grunting required."
Pei Su smiled — soft, unguarded, beautiful. "Noted."
They finished the movie like that: Pei Su curled against Luo's side, Luo's arm around him, fingers occasionally playing with the ends of Pei Su's hair. When the credits rolled, neither moved to get up.
"Bed?" Luo asked eventually, voice low.Pei Su shook his head.
"Five more minutes."Luo chuckled.
"You said that twenty minutes ago."
"Shh. I'm comfortable."So they stayed.
The rain kept falling, the city hummed faintly beyond the windows, and in the quiet warmth of the apartment, everything felt perfectly, simply right.Just them. No shadows. No rush.Just home.
