So, here's the situation:
I had a friend in school about ten years ago (feels like ten, can't be bothered to do the math), who I have reconnected with after all this time. He's a writer, and when I mentioned that I write, he gave me his profile link to read his stuff, because I was curious.
It's really cool stuff, HOWEVER: It is French.
Yeah, reading in another language is a challenge, a challenge I was too lazy for. I found a way to read his work in English using a Google Translate Chrome extension.
So I read his stuff. And enjoyed it, because I didn't have to do mental translations for every tiny detail. And I want to share his work with other people, except I don't keep in touch with many french people.
If I had to describe his work, in my own words, I'd say it's good, it's actually pretty cool? He writes his own original work (unlike me, a classic fanfic writer) and he writes exclusively fiction (we share a love of fiction, though).
Think modern fantasy: Magic exists, and it exists today.
Another common genre/trope he uses is transformation, mainly male to female, he has a few works involving that, and I don't know if it's obvious, but it's normally a trope I avoid.
It's something I'm not always keen to read, and I absolutely can not imagine myself writing a M 2 F transformation or F 2 M, because I can already see myself messing up somehow, somewhere.
But this guy, my friend, seems to get it. I say 'seems to' because I'm not a big fan of the trope at all and have had minimal exposure.
Lastly, his use of AI. Artificial Intelligence. He uses it to generate a cover for his stories, but also to check the spelling. We clearly have different stances in the AI debate, however, it's used minimally. Just thought I'd mention it here before he gets hate comments about the AI usage.
In all seriousness, I want people to read his stories.
I want people to like his stories, because they're pretty personal to him.
And I want to be a good friend who helps another friend with a beloved hobby.
So I'm going to put the link to his Wattpad profile here, and I'm going to repeat a few things.
It's all in French; that's easily ignored thanks to a Chrome extension.
He uses minimal AI; unless you're paying attention, it's barely noticeable.
He's a friend of mine; I'm doing this because I support his writing hobby, I don't want to cause him problems with trolls or bots in his comment sections. Please give him the same respect as you would give to me, or don't bother. Please? Thank you.
