"Mommy, Mommy, look!"
Helaena smiles as Jaehaera beams, proudly twirling in her new dress. Aegon did promise her to buy any dress she'd like if she managed to get better grades in French. Why do children learn French in westerosi schools? She absolutely has no idea. She's thankful, however, that Westeros' first language is English. Her poor daughter, learning her maternal language on top of two others, if it had been the case! Jaehaera did her best, studied hard, asked for help when she needed it. Aegon's surprisingly good at French. He'd joke, saying it's because of french kissing when the truth is simpler :
His friend Leon speaks French.
Fluently.
Because his mother is half french half Westerosi.
He was raised bilingual and thus, when he and his brothers of heart attended school together, he'd tutor them.
And he tutored Jaehaera too, with a great kindness, an infinite patience.
Helaena remembers how her mother used to berate Aegon when she tried helping him with his homework, often to tears, as she called him a lazy idiot when he actually was trying his best and suffering from an undiagnosed ADHD. He refuses to do that to their children.
Jaehaera's grades improved over time and they remain good to this day.
So he kept his promise and took her to a store he knows isn't too crowded, as their daughter is a bit agoraphobic, and he let her choose the dress she wished. Supervised, of course. But if she wanted a Disney princess dress, she'd get a Disney princess dress.
Jaehaera picked a beautiful green dress with white and pink flowers printed on it. It's above the knee, the neckline is square, the sleeves stop a bit under the shoulder, and form a soft balloon shape. A really lovely summer dress she'll be able to enjoy as the summer holidays approach.
"You are so beautiful, my little snail!" The young woman tells her
Aegon grins as he gives her a shopping bag.
"What is it?" She wonders
"Jaehaera found it and thought you should have it." Her brother-husband explains. "I agree. You definitely need to have this."
The Targaryen raises an eyebrow as she opens it before gasping as she realizes what it is.
"By the Seven Gods!" She exclaims
The exact same dress Jaehaera is wearing... but adult-sized.
"So we match!" Her daughter bounces with joy
The mother is almost jumping on place herself as her spouse laughs.
"I can't wait to see you matching." He says
"Now, you need to match with Jaehaerys, Daddy!" His girl tells him
"By the Seven, what a great idea!"
Helaena just smiles, her hand resting on her stomach, hidden by her bag. Aegon doesn't know it yet, she wants to surprise him properly, but soon, he'll have another son to match with.
