Chapter 1: Yes, we may be hidden by rags but we’ve something they’ll never have

Chapter Text

The wind blew peacefully, the birds chirped with a melodic tune, and the sun was starting to rise. The two huddled together on top of the Cadillacs hood. Timmy rested his head on Kevin’s shoulder, and he looked contently at the sky. “This is nice,”Timmy said. Kevin nodded. This feeling of serenity was foreign to Kevin, but he didn’t mind it. He really liked this. Kevin shivered a little, the cold mountain air nipped at his face. Timmy sighed. “I wish this could last forever. Just you and me, alone from society. Doesn’t that just sound like heaven, Spencer?” He asked, smirking. Kevin said that he would kill for a life like that. Timmy had a strange feeling that Kevin wasn’t joking. He rolled his eyes with a smile and tightened his grip on Kevin’s hand. Kevin smiled tenderly. It was quite the sight– Timmy, the fruity edgelord who does the stupidest shit for attention, and Kevin Spencer, the sociopath with a criminal record longer than the Bible, were getting all soft on each other. No one else understood it– not their parents, not those jerks at school–I mean, they were from different worlds. Timmy had lived comfortably and his parents weren’t terrible. Timmy’s dad hit him sometimes, but that was only when he was drunk, and his mom was annoying at worst. Meanwhile, Kevin could barely survive, most of the time he had to beg Timmy for food or steal enough money to eat whatever slop the school was serving. To make it worse, Kevins parents were just god awful and spent most of their time fighting or ignoring Kevin– and yet, despite all that, they were inseparable and felt they were the only ones who understood each other. It was certainly quite the shock to not only see Kevin at school, but for him to be there because of a boy. Kevin hated the damn place, but at least he could spend more time with Timmy. He really liked him– Timmy was kind to him, something no girl ever was. Even if he hated the idea of being fruity, he couldn’t be too mad. It made Timmy a little less threatening and a little more relatable. That makeout party he attended when he was young had ruined his perception of women and intimacy, so it made sense he could never hold a relationship with one, no matter how much he loved them. Timmy looked back at Kevin with a warm smirk. Kevin felt a little hot– he felt mushy every time Timmy looked at him that way. Allen the magic goose appeared next to Kevin, laughing at him. “Woooowee! Getting all soft on this fruit, are we brokenhead?”allen said, flapping his wings. Kevin grit his teeth and told Allen that if he ruined their moment one more time he was going to cook him for dinner and feed him to Timmy. Allen rolled his eyes. “Yeah, yeah, whatever. I’ve got better things to do anyways! I’ve got two hotties waiting for me in hell right now! See you later fruitcake!” Allen said, disappearing again. “I’m cold… can we start the fire now?” Timmy asked. Kevin said he didn’t want to get up because he was far too comfortable resting with Timmy. “I’m going to die of hypothermia if we wait any longer!” He whined, placing his hand dramatically over his forehead. Kevin sighed and stumbled off of the car, putting both of his hands in his jacket’s pockets. Timmy slid off and followed happily after him.

Timmy sat on one of the logs around the fire pit, swinging his legs peacefully. Kevin bent over the firewood and pulled out his lighter from his pant pockets. He lit the wood on fire and straggled over to Timmy, sitting next to him. He fiddled with the lighter for a few seconds before putting it back into his pockets. He leaned onto Timmy and stared into the flame. “So, what do you want to do today, Spencer?” Timmy asked. Kevin explained that when he hid in these woods while on the run from the police, he discovered a few spots Timmy might like. “So like- hiking?” Timmy raised his brow. Kevin nodded. Timmy sighed, “Hey man, do me a favor and go grab something for us to eat.” Kevin nodded and walked toward the car to look for some food. Timmy stretched and grabbed his phone. No WiFi– great. Timmy didn’t much like camping because it meant he had to be away from his technology for hours and hours, but he was willing to make that sacrifice to hang out with Kevin one on one. Timmy groaned and stuffed it into his back pocket. Kevin came back not too long after with a pack of hotdogs and roasting sticks. They sat together in front of the fire and Timmy cooked them. They chatted about random stuff like music, the newest movies, and sand crabs. Kevin took a bite, and raised his brows. Kevin told Timmy that his cooking was amazing, and then mentally chastised himself for stroking his boyfriend’s huge ego. Timmy smiled widely, “I know, I know– I’m just the best aren’t I?” He laughed, only half-joking. Kevin called Timmy a dork and then proceeded to push him. Timmy gasped. “Oh, it is on, Spencer!” The two got off the log and the forest erupted in laughter as they threw the hot dogs at eachother. Timmy hid behind a large tree that gave their tent shade and Kevin ducked behind the right side of their tent. Kevin told Timmy that his aim was ass and that he should just hurry up and submit to his superior. “Oh yeah??? WATCH THIS!” Timmy jumped in front of the tree and threw one of the hot dogs right between Kevin’s eyes. “Shit-“ Timmy chuckled a little. “Are you okay, dude?” He asked. Kevin suddenly sprawled up and grabbed timmy by the waist, knocking them both to the ground. Timmy was terrified that Kevin would erupt into a violent rage. “No- no hard feelings, right?” Timmy laughed nervously. Kevin stared for a few minutes, before breaking the silence and telling Timmy that he really is a dork. “You had me worried for a sec, Spencer!” Timmy let out a sigh of relief. Kevin couldn’t help but notice how good Timmy was looking and smiled, baring his fucked up teeth. “God, Spencer! You need to see a fucking dentist.” Timmy laughed. Kevin said that dentists were evil and he’d rather die than see one again. “Ok yeah, that makes sense…now are you gonna get off me or do I have to stare at this mess for another hour?” Timmy asked, becoming a little claustrophobic under him. Kevins face went back to being blank, and he straggled up. Timmy rose too, dusting himself off. “Sooo, where’s this spot you want to take me?” Timmy asked. Kevin took Timmy by the hand and started leading him into the forest. The two trudged through the light snow. Timmy’s sneakers were not cut out for this kind of athletic strain, and he was falling a little behind. Kevin told Timmy that he should stop caring so much about fashion and focus more on the functionality of his items, especially because he could actually afford that shit. “But I have to look awesome- ugh, you wouldn’t understand, Spencer.” Kevin didn’t much care for looking “awesome,”mostly because he thought that sounded really fruity and cringe. Kevin told Timmy that being pretty was for faggots and drag queens and was just overall overrated. “So you think I’m pretty?” Timmy asked. Kevin turned red and told Timmy that they should stop talking now. “Oh my god! You do! You think I’m pretty!” Timmy smirked dumbly, his cheeks turning a light pink. Kevin sighed, knowing he would never live that down. “Well, if it’s any consolation, you’re not half bad yourself, Spencer.” Kevin severely doubted that– he knew damn well he was hideous. Kevin shot Timmy a glare before looking forwards again. “No, I’m serious. There’s just something about you that’s really pleasant to look at.” Kevin told Timmy to fuck off and to stop lying just to make Kevin feel better about himself. The two continued on the path in silence for a minute. Then, suddenly, there was a weight around Kevin, and the two had stopped. Timmy wrapped himself around Kevin’s waist, hoping it would prove something. Kevin didn’t really like hugs, but he actually really enjoyed this–even if he would never admit it. Kevin smiled and made circles on Timmy’s back. He pushed Timmy closer to him, trying to steal some of his warmth. Timmy slowly rose his body till his face was eye level to Kevin. Timmy kissed him on the forehead and rested his head against Kevin’s. “You really have to stop being so hard on yourself. I meant it, dude. You look especially good without your hat, you know…” Timmy had only seen him without his hat once or twice and yet every time he relished it. Timmy didn’t really mind Kevin’s acne, his fucked up teeth, his crooked nose, or his blood shot eyes– even if he teased him a lot for it. He thought Kevin “pulled it off,” whatever that means. Kevin shrugged and took off his hat, revealing his matted black hair. Timmy looked passionately at Kevin, and Kevin felt all mushy again. Kevin wondered if he really would look better without the hat before Allen appeared on a tree branch near by. “Brokenhead! Don’t start changing yourself for this loser. You ought to teach that boy a lesson for trying to fix you! Go on, brokenhead, break his nose!” Allen yelled. Kevin rolled his eyes and turned back to Timmy. Kevin did agree with him, but he wasn’t about to hit his boy because some unhelpful Goose told him to. Kevin told Allen to eff off and flipped him the bird. He imagined Allen getting hit by a semi truck, and giggled manically at the sight. Timmy’s brow raised. “What’s got you so giggly, man?” Kevin explained that the imaginary goose that lives inside his head has been a real asshole lately about him having friends other than him, so Kevin hit him with a semi truck. “Spencer, you are out there, man!” He laughed. Kevin put his hat back on and his face turned blank again. He grabbed Timmy by the hand and continued leading him into the forest. As they approached, Timmy could hear water and wondered if he was being lead to a river. They reached a small ledge. The ground was steep but they could climb down it if they were careful. Timmy looked up from the ground and saw something beautiful. It was a waterfall that was about the size of a bus vertically. Kevin smiled and proudly showed off his spot. Timmy smiled widely. “That’s beautiful, dude.” Luckily for them, it wasn’t cold enough to freeze the river or the waterfall. Kevin led Timmy to a grassy spot by the river and they sat down together. Kevin rested on Timmy’s lap like a cat. The two rested in a comfortable silence.
