Chapter Text
Oh sweat Chiwa, A little one who tried to not gave into the words of others and find good in everyone. To the surprise of some, she didn't have much friends. Well that a little draw back with being friends with him. Rudo Surebrec, a boy she was friends with and have a little...okay maybe a big crush on but no one needs to know that, especially her mom.
It was like any other day for her. Helping her mom with chores, have some alone time with the remnant object of her dad, water the garden, and finally going to see Rudo and what he was fixing this time. She was getting more worried by the day, specially since he heard from her mom that there was another trash raider incident and mom immediately knew who it was. But that didn't stop her from behing his best friend and besides. After her first two routined chores were finished and said a quick goodbye to a portait of her dad and immediatedly went running for the streets. She knew Rudo would be there with either fixed object and ones he still was finish. While she was running she heard the murmors of the older folk, it went along the lines of "Heard there was another trash reading incident" and "kids needs to learn his place." . That made her slow down but her worry and frustration spike up.
"why does Rudo kep on doing this? What if something goes wrong and the rich side gets a hold of him?!" such thoughts lingered in her head but she took a deep breath and walked to where he was, sitting on the ground with the trash she suspected he collected from his raid and fixing to what appear to be a lamp? or was it a lantern? Anyway she walked and stood in front of his sitting state and put her hands on her hips. "Rudo, did you go dumpster diving again?" Chiwa said with an annoyed tone and she leaned little towards him. Rudo's red eyes looked up at her own yellow eyes, "Chiwa" he said in a flat tones that made Chiwa a little more annoyed. "Don't 'Chiwa' me! You know that city gets super upset about their trash. who knows what would happen if they got a hold of you, besides it's just trash so why go through the trouble?" Frustration that Chiwa had bleed a little in her speech, it really did worry her what would happen to Rudo. Especially since he already has a bad reputation so something like this could easily send him to the Pitt and she didn't want to lose her only best friend. friend
Rudo looked back down at the item Infront of him. "I mean I don't know. Those rich jerks are always tossing out stuff. It's all still good and I guess I feel sorry for it." Placing the fixed lattern in front of him. "And how else am I going to afford to stay alive?" Chiwa took a deep breath and smiled, it gave her a warm feeling hearing how Rudo cares so much about object that people won't even bat an eye at. "You really love trash don't cha Rudo?" as she stared at the lantern. "No I wasn't saying that Rudo tried to say but was rudely interrupted by Sanzi and his group of friends.
"Ah man that is nasty! Why did you wake up in a pile of dead cats or something" Sanzi dramatically said as he mockingly pinch his nose to not smell the so called stentch implied as his mindless friend laugh along as if it's the funniest joke ever said. Chiwa narrowed her eyes at him. "Hey Chiwa, what's up?", Sanzi said as if he wasn't just acting like a bully moments before. "Keep moving." Chiwa replied back. "hey aren't you worried you're gonna get the stank from him?" Sanzie ask as if it's the most obvious thing ever. "What?" clear disbelief heard in her voice. "C'mom, just look at thos nasty, busted gloves he never takes off. Bet that'll give ya a flesh eating rash if you touch 'em!" Laughter followed as a boy with a cream color beanie kicked down the lantern and crouch down to Rudo's level. Chiwa clench her hands into firsts as that beanie boy went on about how no one would buy the stuff that Rudo fixed and had the audacity to mention what's going on with his hands. Chiwa sucked her teeth as she does not play about people making fun of others who literally have disabilitating pain, especially when it's towards someone she cares about. "Yea and so what? THat doesn't mean he's any different that us." Chiwa retorted back
Then Sanzie started talking about something but goodness could she care less. She stared him down and wanted him to just leave already. When he crosed the line and mentioned Rudo's dad he eyes widen a little at the rode he took but then noticed he stopped as if he was afraid. "See look at him. He's got tose freaking murder eyes" Sanzie said as him and his group started to retreat. "They always like father like son" Beanie muttered and another follow suite "It's only a matter of time before you kill someone! psycho!". Chiwa watched as the group of boys left, "I'm not a psycho.", Chiwa turned to Rudo and saw he was hunched over the lantern Beanie boy kicked to the side.
"Those guys were being massive jerks weren't they?", chiwa brushed her skirt and crouch down as well, being eye level to Rudo and looking at him with a smile. "Don't listen to them ok? You're nothing like your dad and a good person like you would never kill anybody" Chiwa said with a smile as they looked eye to eye with one another. "You think? Thanks, and you're um-" sadly Rudo didn't get to fi ished as Chiwa's attention was currently on a white stuff dog with long ears, a red scarf and yellow eyes, similar to Chiwa's. "Ah look at that puppy! It's so adorable. It's looks practically brands new, YOu really are skilled at fixing things" admiring the stuffy, Chiwa noticed the stitched work and felt a little sense of pride since she had originally taught Rudo how to stitch stuff back together because her mom taught her how and Chiwa wanted Rudo to know how as well so they could be stitching buddies. Now she still does know how to stitch and sew but not really with the intent of being a seamstris but in more of a medical professional. So seeing how good the stuff dog condition was in she was amazed at how good he fixes stuff and wonders if she could ask him to teach her a thing or two.
"Yea that guy's y'know" Chiwa's attention diverted back to Rudo as he got up and then crouch down near to her. "I mean he's not for sale or anything. He's special" Rudo picked up the dool and held it in his hand. "and I thought you-" Rudo wasn't able to finish his gesture before Chiwa's mom ,Celine, called her. "Chiwa!" Her mother said in a stern tone. "uh mom!" Chiwa quickly got up and ran to her mother. "We're heading home" Her mother replied back. "I'll see you later Rudo!" Chiwa gave Rudo a quick wave of goodbye before walking along side her mother. Her mother clicked her tongue "I told you to stay away from that boy". "But mom he's my friend, he would never hurt anyone" Chiwa tried to reason with her mom. It was the same thing everyday and it was starting to get frustrating. "Young lady, don't you know what his father did. His father had murdered multiple people and you hanging with that boy is only making people wary of you and I don't want such weary to grow into hate and confusion. For it to be enough that a simple misdemeanor could end up with you being sent to the pit" Celine said in a stern tone and sighed, She doesn't know why her daughter is so adamant about hanging out with the son of a murderer. Celine glances at her daughter and saw she was staring straight ahead, probably too upset to speak and that made Celine heart clench. Why did her daughter had to be like her father?
Her stupid , caring father that cared so much about others that it literally costed his health and now these ungrateful folk expect her precious daughter to be their next doctor. Not even caring if it's that what Chiwa wants. The walk home was silent until Celine sighed "Chiwa, you know I only say this to protect you. I don't want you to end up in the Pitt." Chiwa stayed silent for a bit until she finally relented and responded back "I know mom..." Celine stopped and put her hand on Chiwa's shoulder "Chiwa, I know you only see the good in people, just like your father. But I really do need you to stop being around that boy. People are whispering about you and him and I....I don't want anything to happen to you honey." Celine ended with a sigh as she looked her daughter in the eye. Chiwa wanted to defend her choice but seeing her mother's sad and tired expression left her wordless. All she did was have a quiet nod and they started walking again but this time her mom had her hand on her shoulder. When they reached home Chiwa took on her shoes and placed it in the little cobbey where the shoes go and secretly went to her parent's room. Sneaking through the door Chiwa went and knelt down to check under the bed for a box. When finally seeing the box and grabbing it. She opened it up and looked at all the small drawings her mom did. Some was her dad, others were Chiwa and some was of beautiful flowers. Chiwa wonders why her mom stopped drawing but in the end she knows why. It's painful to draw without the one who gaved you inspiration and hope
"Chiwa dinner is ready" Celine called out for her daughter as she placed two places almost bowls with soup and a small plate with rice. "Coming mom" Chiwa said as she quickly placed the drawings back in the box, sliding it under the bed before getting up and leaving the room. She took her seat at the table. along side her mother and ate her food. Dinner was quiet, she didn't know when it happened threeshe did but it was something that she has gotten used to. Her mom then started talking about something Chiwa wasn't paying that much attention. Only nodding along and wating her meal. Then after she cleaned her dish, wished her a mom a goodnight and went to her room. In her room was filled with small items from memories and people. On her bed was stuffies she made and some unfinished clothes she was still making. Threads, needles, and fabric was everywhere, medical books were placed on a specific spot on the ground near her bed divided into what she has read and what she hasn't reads. Some hand bags were placed to the corner of room as well. Chiwa sighed and she looked around and started to clean her room before finally laying in bed , changing into a simple undershirt and long pants and closed her eyes. Letting the numbness of sleep take over..........

"Chiwa, come look at this flower" a faint voice echoed through the endless field of such green grass that Chiwa couldn't believe she was seeing. She followed the voice and squinted her eyes, trying to make shape of the Silhouette she was seeing. Going closer and closer and she stopped abruptly, there was her father, smiling as if everything was ok again. She didn't know what to say but she quickly ran to hug him. Crying in her arms as he gently hold as as if she was still a newborn. "Chiwa, my sweet girl, what's wrong? Why are you crying dear? " Her dad asked worriedly as he brushed his fingers through her hair. "No dad" Chiwa pulled away, wiping her eyes and nose "I just really missed you." "Well my dear, there is no need to cry, I will always be here, no matter what" Her dad pointed as his heart then here own, before kneeling down and picking up a White lily. Chiwa eyes widen with amazement, it was so beautiful and she hadn't seen them around much anymore these days. Her dad smiled gently and placed the flower in her hair.
"When I saw this lily, I thought of it's meaning "family love. and who better to give it to that my sweet daughter" Chiwa wiped her eyes and smiled "Dad that's cheesy." "Well being cheesy is how I got your mother, maybe learning a thing or two will finally get that boy Rudo notice who is waiting for him." Her dad said in a teasing tone, causing Chiwa to immediately stammer "Dad he wasn't even the topic!" Chiwa yelled, embarrassed that her crush was mention. Her dad chuckled and plucked another flower out, this time it was two flowers. "Ciwa I mean this dearly but sooner or later you will have to tell him but not never. You will have to make your choice and if you truly love this boy I'm sure you will. Now pick a flower" Chiwa saw the two flowers in front of her, a daisy and a daffodil. One meaning true love and the other meaning unrequited love. Chiwa eyes wide and she looked at her dad again. Who simply smiled as she took as a deep breath and reached out for the daisy. The world started to spin and her vision blur. The vision of her dad's smiled changed into a sad one "Be safe, sweetheart.....dad loves you." Chiwa wasn't ready go, she didn't want to go. She didn't want to leafe her dad. she tried to reach out for him, to get him to grab her hand..........

Chiwa opened as her eyes as she quickly sat up, realizing it was only a dream. Chiwa sighed as as the old weeds of grief spring up again but she immediately felt embarrassed since not even in her dreams she could escape her dad's stupid teasing."Stupid dad" She muttered as she started to get up from her bed and looked at the window, only to see that it was quiet early as the sky was a mixture of a dark blue with rays of yellow peaking through. Chiwa morning frustration heighten at the sight. Already knowing she wouldn't be able to go back to sleep, Chiwa started to fix up her room, Folding the blankets and setting out her clothes for the day. Chiwa then went to the kitchen to collect the buckets to fill the morning buckets with water from the pipe. Since it was early there wasn't much people, only like two. Ms. Sally and her little toddler Vicky were always up early for reasons Chiwa never notice. Once Chiwa was near enough Ms. Sally gave her a silent nod as a good morning since she was mute and her daughter who was still half asleep slurd a good morning as well. Chiwa returned the silent good morning and waited in line. After a bit, when the mother and daughter fin ished filling their buckets up. Chiwa went to the pipe and filled hers. Watching the sky and it's shades she wonders why she had such a weird dream . Mom says that there was an old saying that if you remembered your dream it's most likely it will come true. Chiwa didn't believed in the saying this time she hopes it's true. She kept daydreaming until she heard water falling the ground and quickly turn to see that her bucket was overfilling. She quickly turned off and looked around to make sure no one saw that before quickly dishing away with her buckets on both hands. When she finally reached , she was out of breath but still managed to carry the buckets inside.
After that whole situation Chiwa didn't have the energy to warm up any hot water so she poured some water into a bowl and went to the wash room to place it there before grabbing her towel. After cleaning herself she changed into her clothes and started her morning routine until it was socially acceptable enough to go see Rudo. She felt a little guilty since she promised her mom she would stay away from him but she's make sure to make it quick. She fixed up her hair and stepped out of her home, on her way to find Rudo, and maybe even confess her feelings to him!
