Work Text:

“You have to listen to me! The humans are after you! If you keep on racing, you're going to get caught!”

Bee shouted with worry.

“I know, you've told me a thousand times.”

Breakdown rolled his optics.

“Because it's true!”

“You know what? I don’t need you nagging me about my safety! I am perfectly able to take care of myself!”

Breakdown shouted back.

“I'm ‘nagging’ you about your safety because I care about you! Why can't you see that?!”

Breakdown groaned and turned away, starting to walk away.

“I do see that! And I don't need it! Just get off my back!”

Bee started following him.

“I don't want you getting yourself killed!!”

“Primus, Bee! I liked it better when you didn't have a voice box!”

The silence was loud after that.

Breakdown stopped and was confused, hearing Bee stop walking and shouting. When he turned around and looked back, he immediately realized what he said.

Bee was shocked, and on the verge of tears. Breakdown quickly felt horrible about what he said.

“Bee, Bee I didn’t mean that.”

He quickly walked back over to Bee, gently grabbing his forearms.

Bee struggled to speak as he tried not to cry.

“Why would you say that…?”

“Bee, please. I didn't mean it, I promise! I'll never say anything like that again!”

He frantically shouted.

The wound on Bee's neck may have healed, but the damage was done and the trauma was still there. Breakdown wishes he never opened his mouth in the first place.

“Bee…I'm so sorry.”

“No…no you're right.”

Bee pushed himself away.

“Bee…”

“You're right. I shouldn't be nagging.”

Bee turned around and started walking away, wings lowered in shame.

“Bee…please.”

Breakdown extended his servo, going to reach Bee. But he hesitated.

He messed up, again. He drowned in the guilt of his words as he watched Bee walk away. Why couldn't he keep his stupid mouth shut?! Yes, Bee shouting about his safety wasn't pleasant. But what Breakdown said was too far. He felt terrible, but he couldn’t change the past.

All he could do was accept the guilt and give Bee space.
