Work Text:
Phuwin stares at a photo on his phone, a photo of him looking at Pond as if there were no one else in the room and he, Phuwin, was about to devour Pond right then and there, without question, without hesitation, paying no attention to all the people around them (including Pond’s family).
Perhaps, probably, most likely, Phuwin would be surprised by the face he sees on the screen, but he is not. Lately, that’s the expression he’s had every time he’s looked at Pond, and their fans, bless them, have been kind enough to take pictures of him at that moment and post them on Twitter with captions that couldn’t be closer to the truth.
[You did it again] – reads the message from Pond, after which Phuwin’s face becomes a little hotter than before. Of course, Pond had seen the photos. Probably all of them, from every possible angle. Phuwin is not embarrassed by how he looks at Pond, but he is a little shy when Pond mentions it.
[What about your face?] – Phuwin replies and bites his lip. He sees dots appearing and disappearing, Pond is typing something for a long time, too long for Phuwin’s liking, so he gets up and turns on his computer. “Games will calm me down,” he says firmly, but instead he picks up the guitar – the one Pond gave him – and starts playing one of their favourite songs.
The vibration of his phone startles him.
[Just say it] – Pond replies in English.
“That’s it?” Phuwin asks his phone, as if it would know, but the only response is silence.
[Why would I do that?] – he types but doesn’t send the message. He closes LINE and starts recording the song he was practising a moment ago. Half an hour later, he has the perfect version.
Phuwin opens the app again, deletes what he wrote, and sends the video instead. He closes his eyes, hoping that will be enough.
The L word that Pond uses so often doesn’t scare Phuwin. He knows what love is and he knows the feeling very well. But saying the word? That’s another story. And while Pond never forces him to do so, he often teases him by sending him photos of Phuwin looking at Pond as if he were his whole world.
Phuwin looks at his phone. There is a long moment of silence; Pond is not responding, probably getting ready to leave for the airport to catch his flight to Dubai. Another long-distance relationship, a few days apart, in different time zones. Phuwin sighs.
[I miss you too] – Pond finally replies, and Phuwin smiles when the next message is a selfie of Pond with a heart-shaped sticker on his cheek. [This is where I expect a welcome kiss when we see each other again] – Pond adds.
Phuwin giggles. [Idiot] – he answers and puts his phone down. A minute later, he grabs it again and sends another message before he changes his mind.
[ily] appears on Pond's phone screen moments after the [Idiot] message, and Pond can’t help but break into a wide smile.
“Phuwin?” Mae Ying asks rhetorically and shakes her head when she sees Pond’s expression. “You two are gross. Love each other for a long time, hm?”
“Forever, ideally,” Pond replies, nodding.
“YUUUUCK,” he hears from everyone in the car, which makes him smile even wider.
[I love you too] – Pond sends the message and makes himself more comfortable in his car seat. This is going to be a good trip.
