Ezrabbine foreber 7

Summary:

Desperate Sabine is looking for an Ezra

Chapter Text

Two figures emerged from the mist.
The first was tall, clad in dark armor with clean lines, bearing no Imperial or Republic insignia. His helmet rested under one arm, revealing a pale human face marked by old scars. His eyes were cold, calculating—but not cruel. Attentive. As if he were measuring every breath in the room.
The second figure stepped half a pace behind him. Shorter, leaner, moving with a feline grace. She wore a partial mask that revealed a crooked, dangerous smile. Her gloved fingers hovered near the thermal detonator at her belt—not as a direct threat, but as a reminder.
Ahsoka stepped forward instinctively, placing herself between Sabine and them. Her posture was calm, but Sabine knew that stillness well: it was the calm of someone ready to unleash a storm.
—You didn’t have permission to board—Ahsoka said.
The scarred man inclined his head slightly, a gesture that could have been respect… or condescension.
—Permission stopped meaning anything a long time ago—he replied.—My name is Kael Varyn. And if we hadn’t stopped you, you’d be dead by now.
Sabine frowned.
—That’s a strange way to save someone—she shot back, lifting her blaster just a fraction.
The masked woman let out a soft laugh.
—I like her.
The Force stirred again around Ahsoka. Not hostile. Not benevolent either. It felt ancient, like a current that had waited far too long to move again.
—You speak like someone who knows more than he’s saying—Ahsoka replied to Varyn.—Why?
Kael met her gaze without blinking.
—Because the name Ezra Bridger is being whispered again. And wherever he surfaces… something worse is never far behind.
The air grew heavy.
Without thinking, Sabine’s hand went to Ezra’s lightsaber. She felt it hum faintly, as if sensing the danger before she did.
—Then—she said firmly—we’re already in too deep.
Kael’s lips curved into the faintest smile.
—Exactly. Now you have to decide whether you want to drown… or listen to what we know.
The ship’s hatch slammed shut behind them with a dull, final thud.
And Sabine realized, with an unsettling certainty, that this encounter was not a detour.
It was the beginning of something much larger.
New fragment – Escape
The explosion was small—but precise.
Sabine had triggered it on instinct, a charge planted near the secondary conduit she’d spotted the moment they were boarded. The blast rocked the corridor, lights flickering violently as alarms howled to life.
—Now!—Ahsoka shouted.
They ran.
Blaster fire scorched the walls behind them as Sabine slid across the deck, firing blindly to cover their retreat. Ahsoka moved like a blade through smoke, deflecting shots with swift, controlled motions, her presence in the Force sharp and focused.
They reached the T-6 just as the gravity shifted.
—Engines online!—Sabine yelled, diving into the co-pilot’s seat.
The ship lurched forward under heavy fire. Ahsoka pushed the thrusters past safety limits, the hull screaming in protest as they broke free of the tractor beam. Stars stretched—
—and snapped back into hyperspace.
Silence followed.
Only the low hum of the engines remained.
Sabine’s hands were shaking.
She stared at the console, breathing hard, her jaw clenched. The adrenaline drained away, leaving something heavier in its wake. Her fingers slid from the controls to Ezra’s lightsaber resting beside her.
And then she broke.
Her shoulders slumped. A sharp, broken breath escaped her chest as tears welled up and spilled over. She turned away, pressing her forehead against the cool metal of the console, trying—and failing—to hold it together.
—I was so close—she whispered.—Every time… every time we think we’re getting closer, it gets worse. More enemies. More secrets. What if we’re too late?
Ahsoka didn’t answer right away. She stood behind Sabine, quiet, steady. Then she placed a hand gently on her shoulder.
—The path was never going to be simple—she said softly.—Ezra knew that. And so do you.
Sabine swallowed, wiping her face with the back of her sleeve, her voice raw.
—I just want to bring him home.
Ahsoka squeezed her shoulder, firm but reassuring.
—And we will—she said.—But the Force is moving again. That means the cost will be higher.
Sabine looked up, eyes red but burning with resolve.
—Then we don’t stop.
The T-6 surged through hyperspace, carrying them deeper into a galaxy that was no longer asleep.
