“Eclipse!” Lunar called to his brother.
Eclipse turned to him, a foul look on his face. He'd just gotten home from… Somewhere. He never told Lunar what he was doing anymore.
“Did you get that part to fix my leg yet?” A few days ago, Lunar walked into the wrong room. It just happened to be while his brother was testing a new project, and he got hit accidentally.
Eclipse glared at him. “No.”
“Wasn't it supposed to come in yesterday?”
“Shut up about the damn leg! You did it to yourself, stop complaining.”
“O-oh. Uhm, ok. Sorry.”
His brother rolled his eyes. “I'm going to put you upstairs, since apparently you're too dumb to not get yourself hurt.”
Before any protest could reach his lips, Eclipse threw Lunar over his shoulder and walked up the stairs. He tossed him on the couch and walked back down. Leaving him alone. Again.
_____
Two days later, Lunar asked him again.
He'd been confined to the couch once again, but he'd sat on the floor and scooted himself to the top of the steps.
Before he could continue his venture downstairs, Eclipse appeared at the bottom.
“What the hell do you think you're doing?!”
“I was trying to find you, uhm, I wanted to ask about the part.”
Eclipse dragged his hand down his face. “Shut up about it! God, you're lucky you're so fucking stupid, or I'd put you to work looking through things for me. If you're going to be useless until you're fixed, at least stay out of my way.”
And with that, Eclipse left.
_____
He was working on a new project. Lunar wasn't sure what it was, but from listening to his brother he could gather that it would be ‘a better version’ and ‘another perspective’. All of his brother's attention went to whatever it was.
All Lunar had been doing for days was play video games in his head and stay away from Eclipse. It wasn't like he had anything else to do.
He was about to go to sleep when he heard another voice.
He scooted his way to the stairs and peered down to the floor below. There was a new animatronic, one he'd never seen or heard in his life. Eclipse had something akin to a control panel in his hand, and was also talking to this mysterious person. He heard his brother mention Sun and Moon, the people he'd been befriending for months.
He went to scoot closer, he couldn't quite make out what was being said, when he realized he shouldn't be eavesdropping. Eclipse would kill him. He'd be better off going to sleep.
_____
He couldn't resist. Eclipse came to tell him that he wouldn't be home for a few days. He was just turning to leave, when he asked the question that had been burning in his brain for hours. “Who were you talking to last night?”
Eclipse slowly turned his head towards him. “What did you just say?”
Lunar could already tell that he messed up. Big time. “Uhm. I, uh, I heard you talking to someone last night when I was going to sleep.”
Eclipse grabbed him by the shoulder, squeezing just a bit more than was comfortable. “Listen up. I didn't realize how much you 𝘱𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧 until I got you out of sight. This has made me realize that you probably aren't the best for the job. That animatronic is your replacement. I don't need you to befriend Sun and Moon anymore. If you don't prove yourself useful in the next week, I'm using you for scrap. If you somehow show me you're worth it, I'll fix that leg.”
The eclipse let him go. His brother turned and walked downstairs.
Lunar crumpled. How was he going to fix this?
_____
Throughout the next week, Lunar tried his best to be helpful. He barely slept, and spent all of his time doing all sorts of paperwork for Eclipse. He helped sort parts, and did all other sorts of tedious tasks that Eclipse didn't want to do.
After the week was up, Eclipse told him he'd fix his leg.
Lunar went into his lab, and woke up who knows how long later.
“Thank you, Eclipse.” Lunar said as he checked out his new leg.
“Yeah, yeah. You're going to help me carry things now, too. I upgraded the other one too. By the way, they will shut off if you leave a certain area that I set, and I have a control for them.”
That was 𝘯𝘰𝘵 something Lunar thought could be slipped into a casual conversation. If Eclipse wanted, he could just stop him from moving? That was scary.
“Uhm, why?”
“Because, Lunar,” Eclipse looked at him, some sort of sick glee on his face, “I liked you better broken.”
